The Flying Mario can only be used in the Gateway and the Observatory. Other than these two places, not a single one of these Red Star power-ups can be found.

It's a darn shame too. Some Purple Comets would have been PERFECT for this type of thing.

@Saestrol yeah i think the flying was a bit of a let down :P i mean this is the only place where you need it aside from getting around the observatory slightly faster or get some 1-ups which are too easy to collect anyway :D

I don't get it, the Wii remote is part of Mario power or it's just a waste of equipment, trying to put a use to that gay controller?, why he can't go HIMSELF for the things? can work as a gun for Mario? if you're focused trying to keep the dude in the land, who got time and eyes to follow him and the Wii pointer? that's absurd.

What? Have you played the game? (Calling the controller "gay" makes no sense by the way...)

You control Mario with the Nunchuck connected to the Wiimote. You point the Wiimote at the screen to attract Starbits and do other things, not specifically control Marios direction. Yes you can run right up to bits and collect them too, but it's so much easier to just point at them.

Some objects require the Wiimote to intereact with. And its actually a nice way of handling the game.

@Saestrol I dunno, aside from the ignorance, he does lay out the ground work for a valid point. It just seems really lazy to just point at the star bits to collect them. I mean, look at that purple coin "challenge". It'd be one thing to be stuck in the power up's time limit and the red stars throughout the planet not respawn or something. But because of people having to get used to the Wiimote, so much potential challenge and fun outside of bosses is lost. Would be a better game without it.

Pointing the Wiimote at the screen is used for more than just that. I mean, imagine the Gamcube controller split into two. Then the right side with an infared sensor.

Also, It would be irritatingly bothersome to manually touch every single Starbit you come across, seeing how most are out of reach. The Starbits are almost optional , but can bounce over your head when you try to run into them.

I like the idea of more focused hand-eye co-ordination. One game that doesn't feel gimmicky.

reasons why better than winmg cap

1: you can press A to change your direction toi give more accurate flying

2: laser eyes allow gfood aim

3: triple jump/cannon not needed to use. only spin in the air to activate.

lol-this so definitely beats super mario 64's flying winged ability-hold A in mid0air to stay still and you can still float-it lets you aim where you're gonna go. put +1 if you agree with red star gloves are better then winged cap. Because if u don't wear a hat you cant fly. put -1 uf you disagree. But if you say -1 reply to me but don't put the obvious reasons-like using it in levels.. :-(

Basically getting the Red Star will put Flying Mario Power-ups in the Observatory.

You can always go to the options to make the Wiimote sound effects come from your TV.

I have done that here, but there are only a few that will come out of the TV. The shooting sound is about the only one.

There is a unique sound for collecting Starbits, touching a Pull-Star, Releasing a Fireball, Hitting something with the Spin and a few more that will only come out of the Wii-Mote where turned on.

No... I don't think you can bomb anyone before or now...

But you can bombard them with Starbits while flying and knock em' out in the Gate. It's little weird to control because the flight has a curve to it, like it's always curving downward.

What exactly does the Red Power Star unlock? The Green ones unlock the three 'Tilt the remote' galaxies, what does this one do?

It puts the Red Star Power-up around the Observatory. You can quickly use Flying Mario to get to the Garden or the Engine Room. Plus, I think it's the only way to get the 1-Up Mushroom at the very tip of the place.

Basically just an easier/faster way to the higher places. They will be found in two spots, one by the Garage and the other is beside the Red Luma (the one who had a "secret").
