there are bearing shells which are not like ball races whatsoever they are basicaly a curved piece of soft metal coated with a layer of hard metal which is why they need constant presurised oil suply or they seize
and that goes for -big end - main - and cam bearings look it up if you dont believe me i have rebuilt enough to know
