Yes I know that Legolas is Thranduil son so as he doesnt have a speaking part in the book he should be seen and not heard like a good little wood elve. Have we got an official age on Gimli?
Well they clearly said he was ill. Aragorn would be 30. Legalos shouldnt have a speaking part(but will :() and if we have Legalos cant we have Gimli(perhaps during the battle of 5 armys) Elija Wood shouldnt be there either except he will be listening to Bilbo tell the story.
@zaprese they should include those characters, just so LOTR fans get what they want, would Gimli be in the battle of five armies? he would've been very young, and his dad, wouldn't want him being in the same army as him. Elijah can be there when future Bilbo scene occurs, but yes at the story he would not have been in there, we all need a bit of Legolas too, due to him being a wood elf and son of tharunduill, plus my favourite character of LOTR.
@patryk1734 quote gandalf in lord of the rings "Bilbo good to see you! One hundred and eleven years old — who would believe it? You haven't aged a day..."
Wasn't Aragorn in Elrond's foster care during The Hobbit? If he was meant to be in his late 80's in LotR, he'd be about ten or so in the Hobbit? But Jackson shortened the time between Gandalf leaving for Minas Tirith and coming back to the Shire by several years (not sure to be exact). It may be simpler to just allude to Aragorn's existence rather than have him on screen, just for continuity sake - people like us would pick up on it!
im pretty confident that it'll be like one guy below me said at least 85% accurate to the book.its a long book afterall.if you havnt read it,i urge you to read it
@NavySealRay It's actually not that long...it's about on par with the individual parts of LOTR. It's also a very fast read as the story moves very quickly.
@xOmgitzWill well i hope you know that in the book, Gandalf, Bilbo and Gollum are the only characters that should return and Gollums part is very minor.
@akumie2 Well it's more like a tribute. It's good to have it accurate at most points but if it was a complete recreation it wouldn't work. Novels work very differently from films.
@lordmattis94 Oh yer, i agree entirely but i think they probably want to do it with parts set around the same time as lotr to keep the public happy (by having actors such as elijah wood & ian holm)
@MichaelHowrie i no this bro,,, it just should be so long after the production and film to get done and hav it shown in theaters 2years later.. i mean i dont like twilight but the 2nd part of breaking dawn is in theaters a year after the first part
I don't know why, but I'm awfully excited Sir Ian Mcelen will still be playing the role of Gandalf. As for Bloom and the others, there's no fucking need to be in the movie since they were NOT in the book. Most important roles will be that of Bilbo, Smigol and Gandalf. Read the fucking book, bitch!!!
@ElementGreen222 Actually, Legolas IS going to be in it, so you're the dumbfuck. They go through Mirkwood, he's the prince of Mirkwood, it's not a huge leap. And they could have put Aragorn in it easily enough. In the book, Gandalf disappears for long stretches of time and deals with the White Council and the Necromancer, and they plan to actually show all that behind the scenes stuff in the film
@ElementGreen222 legolas is in the movie, although its most likely a cameo since his dad catches the dwarves in the book, so he'll probably just be in the background
why do they get stupid girls to do all the video for this it makes it annoying it watch i dont care if she looks good she needs to learn to speak and change her voice every so often
simple, of tol, kien had thought of legolas while writing the hobbit i'm sure he would have been in the halls of his father, or at the battle of the five armies and so on.
and the background story telling that involves frodo will also bring us back ian holm as old bilbo, thank god.
if it was only for the money why do they bring holm back?
OMG Ian Holm should play the younger Bilbo Baggins not just the older version of him because when he finds the ring he stops aging... and its 21 century so i'm sure they can make him look like he looked in the first LOTR
@MsBuchnerd Howard Shore will make the music, just like he did in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy so i have no doubt the music will amazing and neither should anyone else. What i am hoping is that the movie as a whole will be as good as the Lord of the Rings.
New Line Cinema screwed Peter Jackson BIG TIME on LOTR!
...It took 3 years for 'The Hobbit' to even begin its concept stage of production. Once that finally did happen they began casting actors while cutting the script into 2-parts.
And director, Peter Jackson was unsure if he could make the prequel, so for those 3years he busted his ass to get this movie rolling and do it the way HE WANTS to be done. I heard him say once, if he had made this movie earlier, it would have been too soon..
You're not going to change my opinion on this buddy. Peter Jackson came onto the project later, and he wasn't the director, Guillermo del Toro was. I am pretty freaking sure Jackson said he didn't want to be a director again/of The Hobbit in an interview. After Guillermo left, Jackson picked up the job and what he said at the time made me think, if he didn't say it outright, that he did so because the project HINGED ON IT.
@jayoung472 "if he had made this movie earlier, it would have been too soon.."
What is he going to do or say really, at least anymore than I think he and the rest of the project crew already have? Do you think he is going to make a frank statement about the project being a disaster that may not ever reach theaters? I'll believe this film is going to come out when I am actually watching it on the silver screen, and not a minute before.
@ROS3tYL3R Sylvester McCoy has been cast as Radagast the brown. But sadly David Tennant hasn't been cast as anything I thought he would of made a fantastic king Thranduil.
Just to highlight a problem with taking over ten years to do something like this, we have Ian Holmes cast as an older Bilbo Baggins. If they had actually been on the ball they would have completed this 6-7 years ago tops and he could have played as the younger Bilbo Baggins instead of the elder version only. I'm also worried that some of the other actors might actually pass away due to old age (Christopher Lee) BEFORE THEY FINISH THIS. That's insane!
First of all, the Hobbit should have been done years and years ago. Not worked on, not started - DONE. Instead it took them years just to finish a god damn SCRIPT and decide they would two movies instead of one. They started casting people like 2-3 years ago and evidently still haven't finished.
They've also gone through like 3 directors, producers, and etc until they got Peter Jackson on board in an attempt to save the project and P.R.
