  • @Panohuh

    ¿QUE SUELE PASAR?

  • What is this? This is not Sesame Street.

And is that Big Bird? Big Bird is only yellow, he is not green red and purple. And what are they saying? Is that Alan, Chris or Louise?

  • @brettfoshager This character is called "Abelardo" he is BigBird's cousin and he is mexican. He appeared in an Sesame Street Episode in which that is explained.

  • @brettfoshager is abelardo his mexican cousin and this show is plaza sesamo his mexican-latinamerican sesame street counterpart a show apart the old man is don boni

  • Esta es la voz nueva , verda ?

  • Thats a big ass bird I would be afraid jk lmao. GO ABELARDO!!

  • Aww, Abelardo is so cute! I slightly watched this version on Univision growing up here in NY. They only showed it on the weekends. I watched the regular version more.

  • LOL, the apple (manzana) apears in the letter because actually "manzana" is the only word in spanish that Big Bird knows xD. This is because in one chapter, Abelardo visits Big Bird (who is his cousin), and Big Bird was searching for a special word in spanish to greet Abelardo. It seems that the translator forgot that joke. [Sorry about my english ^^U]

  • Well that's great. 3 years of high school spanish have rendered me just barely able to comprehend a show targeted at 7 year olds. Awesome.

XD Still, gotta love a 7 foot tall parrot.

  • Why is Abelardo saying "Gallo, gallina. Gallo, gallina" ("Rooster, hen. Rooster, hen") in the second half of this segment? That's a bit bizarre.

I like Don Boni's response to Abelardo's saying he'll tell Big Bird "lots and lots and lots of things" in his second letter (at 3:15): "Then, I'll go get a sheet!" (as in a bedsheet)

  • @QuesterLEJ "Gallo, gallina" is like a silly song you sing when you're playing hopscotch or you're just jumping out of joy.

And the correct translation of what Don Boni said is "Then I'll go get a spreadsheet". That means only a spreadsheet (bedsheet) will be big enough for Abelardo's purposes.

  • Guess I kinda understand MarshalArchibaldo. How can both of them break that language barrier and fully understand their mutual letters, just using drawings and a few words? That reminds me about the time Abelardo went to Sesame Street to visit Big Bird (a epic episode, if you allow me to say). Maybe Rosita could help Big Bird to translate some spanish stuff, but what about Abelardo? Who helps him?

  • @BunnyfriendMX I think Abelardo was just... staring at Big Bird? Actually it seemed that he could understand some english, but I'm not sure. However, the only english word that Abelardo knows it's "scram"; but I think that he doesn't know the meaning ^^U

  • @sminako05 As far as I know, Abelardo haven'n learnt english in all those years. He can't speak or understand a single word, and you're right: he doesn't know what "scram" means. Anyway it's funny how they manage to communicate between them =D

  • ...I guess the language barrier is not a problem. lol XD

By the way, why does this thing confuse you?

  • You see characters from SS on PS and treat them like they're native to there. But, whenever you see the American street in an insert shown in a different country, they treat it like the same street as the foreign country. You see Big Bird in PS inserts often, but does he live in America or in Mexico? It gets confusing.

  • @MarshalArchibaldo When Sesame Street inserts appear in Plaza Sésamo, they're set apart from the Plaza itself. I mean: it's kinda implicit that Bert, Ernie, Telly, Elmo or Zoe don't live in the same place that Abelardo, Pancho and Lola or share the same space. (they're treated like muppets living in a neutral place). And they even go further in that matter adapting some skits from SS to PS look and feel, and using PS characters.

Maybe I can understand this since I grew up with the show.

  • @MarshalArchibaldo It's simple, Sesame Street is an inter-dimensional crossroads outside of space and time.

  • @genbairen cause abelardo (spanish big bird) wrote to big bird (english big bird)

ps.. i wunder if spanish children watch sesame street???

  • @lavigne777619 Abelardo is the MEXICAN Big Bird, and yes we do watch Sesame Street but we rename it Plaza Sesamo
