I really need help with my bike -It seems to have a charging problem. The altrnator doesnt works as it has to be....can you help me with a detail explanation about this video.
Wow. Well I've got a few questions, but it's a bit late now, so I'll put them together and PM you. This is gonna be a REAL ass-saver for me. Thanks in advance!!
My plate is just flat accross the top twp holes with a single hole to zip tie the stator leads to - But The rest of the modification looked just like you photos you posted - On the side cover I slowly machined down the area around the screw holes about the same amount as the plate thickness - my cover sealed fine with the original rubber gasket - I did have to remove most of the ribs to clear the trigger wires - My knotch for the wires is right beside the oil fill cap - Very cool modification
Glad that it worked out for you. You are the first (after myself) that I know of. Clay on the steel plate. Press against engine. Drill through the impression. That's where the drill press makes the difference.
I did this modification to my 92 Vulcan with out too much problem - I did not have a drill press an used a hand drill - I fabricated ( 4 ) plates before I had one that properly centered the stator - those ( 6 ) holes have to be precise - But, at the end of the day my Vulcan was back up an running an this saved me a bunch of money.
Anyone that has done an engine tilt to replace the stator is banging their head on the keyboard right now: a;lskj*fuckheaddf'alskdjgf;lkaj*shitsfsd*damntglkj :)
Please visit the site below for a full discussion of the mod. I'm sure that it will answer any questions that you might have.

The way it should have been designed in the first place. You can do this yourself.
