There is no research that supports the use of a continuous passive motion machine with improving function or long term recovery of a total knee replacement.
There is a strap that should be going across the shin, the thigh strap should be tighter (you can see the knee is still in ~10-15 degrees of flexion with the CPM in full extension) the head of your bed should not be raised more than 10 degrees and you only should have it on for ~ 2 hours at a time 3 times a day not for 6 hours continuously
His knee is doing great now. Thanks for the advice though.
