but after all that I realized i needed to make changes if I was going to be happy, at first I felt as though I cheated death, but then realized i was given a second chance...so I made the necessary changes in my life and finally I can honestly say I'm happy !! THANKS TO MEDICAL SCIENCE!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
. Mentally when you go in for something like that, not knowing if you'll come out, it changes your priorities, life means more!! nothing is taken for granted!! it was rough, but
I had this done in 1991, and the thing grew back, we spotted it in 93 so i waited until it got big enough for them to go back in. during the wait I was on seizure meds because of grand mal sezeirs i was having from the first surgery, The doctors were able to go back in to remove the second growth in 2000, since then I haven't been on seizure meds and everything is fine
2 days ago I woke and my right hand was semi- paralyzed,
The ER docs finally decided it was caused by nerve damage? i think? said the nerves that control this part that is paralyzed is near the 3rd ventricle where they had cut me ,.
is this normal that such nerve damage to occur 10 1/2 yrs post surg??
also having probs w/one eye they cant explain the cause??
Hi. What happened to you two days ago is strange. I do not think there is a relation with the operation 10 years ago. It might have been a TIA or minor CVA. Have you visited a neurologist? Wish you the best!
At the ER they had to send for a Neurologist and that was his answer to why? and yes they set me an appt with a Neurologist in 3 weeks! Thank you very much Dr!!! I really appreciate you taking time to help!!!
hi,i had undergone surgery for colloid cyst seven years ago.now no problem with my brain.i am a doctor,i got treatment at sree chitra institute, trivandrum.
complete removal does NOT make always make a patient "cured"
I am still alive after 10 yrs, but have many probs from cutting into my brain that seem to be permanent, but alive! Sometimes wish I had died ? other times life is good and am glad to be alive!
@pkrwd thanks for your respons. i really agree with you on the fact that surgical cure doesn't always mean cure of symptoms. On the contrary: the outcome of surgery can even be really bad or even disastrous despite complete removal of the disease.
I hope that the periods that you are glad to be alive will increase and the periods you are depressed will decrease with time. I wish you the best!
@pkrwd I know what you mean, after my first surgery in 91 I'll never ever forget the depression, it was almost like an insult when people told me i was lucky, only because I remember thinking "how can you say that you never had to go through what I just went through". It does get better!! after awile i realized they will never understand. we are "special" in a sense that we lived to tell about it, and that we were given that experience. There are very few of us!
@misssherry61 I am glad you are doing better!!!! that is great!! I am just getting worse,, but i will not let them drill into my head again,,, I'd rather just get this life over with already!! It really sucks most of the time for me,, but am very glad that you are doing good!!!
almost all colloid cysts are benign and originate from the roof of the third ventricle. They grow slowly and eventually obstruct the flow of cerebrospinal fluid which leads to hydrocephalus. In case the cyst can be radically removed, the patient needs no shunt and is cured. The patient in the movie did not need a shunt either. The color of the protein contents of the cyst can be green, yellow or gray. this doesn't mean anything. Thanks!
there was was minimal bleeding/oozing from the choroid plexus which can easiliy be controlled by rinsing. There is no cut in the brain except a small tunnel through cortex and white matter for the scope. Patient is doing well, postop scan looks good Thanks for your comment!

What endoscope do you use for this equipment? What is the diameter?
