  • I just love this song so much !!!! It always tempts me to sing along, the Russians have such a wild joyful spirit, i adore it. I love russian music, the russian soul is so deep and this comes out in the traditional russian music. Russian music is a weird mixture, often changing between deep sadness and all of the sudden turnhing into the wildest joy.

The most funny thing however is that the song has been written and performed by Germans, lol i really wonder how they manage to sound so russian

  • If any other guy dressed up like the one singing with the mohawk and that vest, I would call them gay, but this guy isnt gay even though he has that one simply because he is singing this awesome song.

  • @AsafSchnider hahaha, i fully agree with you, i love it too! The song is from the 1980ies, i already loved it when it came out 25 years ago.

    Text:

wo ho ho ho ho- HEY!

Moskau ,Moskau, Väterchen, dein Glas ist leer (Daddy, your Glass is empty)

  • Dschinghis Khan für immer! :-)

  • Dschinghis Khan für immer! :-)

  • @MsErosramazzotti Just use the YouTube downloader.

  • Best.... Chorus... EVER!

  • Who is the young Mohican guy?

  • @samuraispirit Which one? The mohawk guy is Daniel Käsling. The other young guy in the center whose clothes indicate that he's standing in for the late Louis Potgieter is Stefan Track. The bonnie lass with them is Ebru Kaya.

The four original members are Wolfgang Heichel (the larger guy on the left with slightly longer hair and what looks like eyeshadow); Steve Bender (the shorter-haired, older-looking guy on the right); Edina Pop (Zsa Zsa Gabor-looking lady) and Henrietta Strobel (the blond).

  • Who's the young guy with the mohawk?

  • @M08397

    (sorry for lack of names)

i think that dude and the other 2 younger people are just there for dancing reasons, like 1 person couldnt do justice to the guy that passed away and the other guys who appear a bit too old to shake it

  • @M08397 His name is Daniel Käsling.

  • 3:24 brilliant dancing.

  • out of the performances done in the last 10 years this is the best

  • Steve Bender aka The Scary Bald Guy passed away a few years ago RIP

  • @TheButterySnarf Quote from Wikipedia: "The original members of the group were Louis Hendrik Potgieter, Steve Bender, Leslie Mándoki, Edina Pop and the husband and wife pair Wolfgang and Henriette Heichel."

  • anybody know this guys name?

  • the spiky mohawk guy. hes HOT

  • anyone else notice that Tama drumset at 3:33?

  • They really look like they're having fun up there...

  • This is an awesome song, but too bad most of them are either lip-syncing or just trying to go along with the original song.

    Moskau forever!

  • the worst thing is that their lip-syncing is pretty bad. =_=

  • It's not just bad, it's fucking horrible.

  • the video is not in sync.

  • isnt it ironic that the scary bald guy in this video has hair, but yet shortly after this dies of cancer, where you usually don't have hair?

    The mysteries continue....

  • a chemotherapy makes your hair fall out, not cancer.

  • Yes I am very aware of that, my mom passed away from breast cancer that aggressively traveled to the rest of her body after remission.

  • respect.

  • @KradyyY no,doubt.

  • i lived in moscow fo a year

  • Moskau! Moskau! Billy is a handyman. Porcelain is the surest plan. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Hey!

  • one of the best songs!!!!

  • Are they perfoming in russia?

  • i understand this song and i love this song.

  • Isso de fato é uma pérola. Lembro do Brasil nessa época... quanta saudade !!!!!!!!!

  • See, these people know how to party! Every other live concert I see, everybody just either jumps around or they just stand there screaming. I would LOVE to dance there, even if it's just to move my limbs in some retarded dance!

  • It just not the same, but the music is still enjoyable ;)

There are younger members on the stage. They're in a spin off called "The Legend of Dschinghis Khan" or something like that...

  • would u guys just understand the songtext...

...this is what make the song so great!

  • I like this song!

  • Are they just miming it?

  • I think so. We obviously hear the studio record.

  • Yea it was miming but the microphones were on. Because you heard one of the original members in one of the songs with a horrible humming noise. And steve was singing live to Rocking Son.

  • Not to mention you can hear someone REALLY off in the "Oooooh" part.

  • hammer lied

  • ich mag diese Lied sehr!!

Moskau doch wer dich wirklich kennt, der weiß das Feuer brennt in dir so heiß!!!

  • Why did this get negative 6?

  • hang on

which is the knight rider guy with the big hair?

  • He's the guy on the far left, wearing what looks like a gold cummerbund.

  • wow who is the girl at 2:07?

  • where is the russian version of it? It is much cooler!

  • 3 of them are dead i thought only 2 was.

  • I think it's only 2

  • Three of them are dead: the original guy in green, the bald guy and the original Dschinghis Khan character. The guy in black and the two women are still alive.

  • It's such a bittersweet feeling, now three of the members are dead and it's such a pity. A band with such a huge potential could have gon so much further...

  • Some of the dance movements that I saw in the clip that featured all the members back in the old days are missing in this dance routine.

  • Yea some cunt -1 my comment. Yes the ban are great i said. But that performance was lip synced you can hear them actually singing :) at some points.

  • this movie sounds like loudness optimized for FM broadcast.

  • Lol great band but they lip syced.

  • i love this band!

2 bad that 3 of the original band members are dead :'(

  • fucking AMAZING.

  • I wish I could see more of the original groups members instead of the other people on stage.

  • i just came back from South America, Ecuador and this song is rocking over there. they even have this song mix to a dance beat.....i got to like it cause i was drunk all the time and now i heard it and brings back cool memories.....thanks village people of the 70's.....=]

  • q truchadaaaaa

  • mne ponravilsya paren' s erakesam!

  • like it!

  • it's funny

  • lalalalala !!

    ey

    jajajaja!

  • "They are a German band with a Mongolian name singing about a Russian city, Moscow!"

exactly...Genghis khan actually conquered a portion of russia too...

  • P E R F E C T !!!!!!!

  • and im not just trying to sound smart... im german and happen to have some russian friends.

  • aaahhh... there are absolutely NO similarities between Russian and German, German being a German language and Russian slavic. If any words sound similar, its only because the word is probibly borrowed from English or French...

  • or Latin or Greek. German is a Germanic language (like English) and Russian is indeed Slavic, its Cyrillic alphabet based largely on the Greek template.

  • indeed english is much closer to Russian then german to russian.

  • Wrong. English is an alderman language, which means that it is a descendant from german language (think of angle-saxons...). There is no direct link to Russian language. But there is between Russian and German language, because of it's slavians origins. Here are some examples for their kinship: Buchhalter=Бухгалтер; Landschaft=Ландшафт; Landsknecht=Ландскнехт; Schinkenbrot=Бутерброд; Kilogramm=Килограмм and so on.

  • i have no idea but we never notice that.

but to learn any european language from russian is much much easier then for mongol or chinese or arabic. Alot of common words.

  • actually u made 1 lil mistake :))

Buterbrod - ButterBread :)

    anglo-saxon :)

  • ah, now here's where you are wrong. They are from two different language families, yes, but there are many words that are shared between the two languages. Holding a degree in Russian from an American university, I can say with 100% percent certainty there are similarities. For example the word "buterbrod" means sandwich in both German and Russian. Also the word "tanz", for dance, is "tans" in Russian. Just to name two.

  • I speak English and russian but have german relatives, i didnt know buterbrod and tanz had the same meanings in both languages. But they are very very different.

  • hello MR. American University undergraduate.

for ur information i would like to inform that RUSSIANS are europeans. and all europeans have alot of incommon. Language,Looks, traditions, 30% of the Russian lang contains old LATIN. like the rest of the european languages

  • And you point is? You're actually reinforcing my point. All of the European languages are related, and I'm trying to prove that GERMAN and RUSSIAN have similarities. They are different in alphabet, but have many similarities. End of story.

    Eta vsyoh.

  • our alphabet was invented in Byzantic Empire by Greek Bulgarians(EUROPEANS)

sorry about that then. my fault
