I saw this once. All that I could keep thinking is "SHUT UP and open the damn park already!! GEEZ!!!"
Disneyland's opening is much better. They let you on Main Street 1/2 hour before the park officially opens and a simple dropping of the rope is it. Clean, no fuss, no muss. They know everyone is really anxious to get in already.
@club33az They actually do it at Disney to echo the way Walt first opened the park on opening day, with a rope. If they had a higher volume of crowds in the morning they would also do a show; however it's quaint and more classic to do the rope there.
In WDW, the show has a special magic because it's big and grand and wonderful. You're not missing any park time by watching it; it's on 10 minutes before park opening and finishes right as it opens. It's pretty perfect.
Woops...we had a reservation for breakfast. They let you in around the side if you eating in one of the restaurants..she thought I was trying to cut the line..
of course everyone will be going to space mountain, which was my first plan until i saw everyone who commented would do it too so im sure that is the most popular ride. 0.o
They probbably don't let you on to MAIN STREET USA before the park opens anymore because techinically that is part of the park and they are getting it ready for the day and also for security reasons.
BUT HOPEFULLY I'LL BE THERE IN A WEEK TO SEE FOR MYSELF WISH ME LUCK!!!
Yes, this happens every morning. Noone is let onto Main Street until this ceremony is over and the park opens. Years ago, one could go onto Main Street and have breakfast waiting for the park to open. Everyone gathered at the HUB (the end of Main Street) which was roped off waiting for the characters to arrive and open the Lands. Back them once the ceremony was over, people could race to whatever land had their favorite attraction. (cont) Disney Dave
ive always wanted to go to this, like when they first open the gates! i here that ppl like run in and everything! i'd probably go to space mountain first lol cuz the line gets long fast! lol
we have 29 weeks left till we go (8th sept 09) i might try and see this hope we get picked to go om the train if not oh well worth the try i'm a bigger kid than my kids lol
I go to WDW every year sumtimes twice and I have never been up that early for the opening ceremony, but this past summer I was on the fishing excursion in 7 seas lagoon and I heard this going on
I've there maybe about 5 or 6 times and I have never got there when the doors open either. I'd like to sometime but coming from central time zone it is much easier for me to stay til they close. Maybe in 2 months I will get to the opening at disneyland as I can get up 2 hours earlier easier.
I caught the last bit of this show last time I was there. I was running over to get thunder mountain fastpasses, and got to give Mickey a high-five on the way! *.*

How exciting. A bunch of non-union wannabes lip-syncing and jumping around to an uninspired canned track. The designers of this crap cynically create not to please their own educated sensibilities, but what they second guess will delight dull hillbillies. Yawn.
Coming from a former Cast Member, this show DOES NOT happen everyday. It does show most days espically during high season but if you attend during slow season, I suggest asking a Cast Member what days they will be doing it. It is really cute and I totally recommand see but always ask before planning on see it and then it not happen. It also does not happen at the same time. If it is Early Morning Extra Magic hours at MK, this show can be performed as early as 6AM. Always ASK! Hope this helps!
was is cool being a cast member? i would love to work for disney when i grow up. although probally not one of the cast members actually in the park, i would rather be an imagineer. its what im going to go to college for. well, engineering... but is it hard to become one of the costume people or do you just apply for it?
Being a cast memeber has probably been the highlight of my life thus far. I worked at MGM (now Hollywood Studios) on the Backlot Tour and it was great. Its not too hard to become a cast member, for one reason that they need a TON of people to actually make WDW run. But I totally recommend working for Disney, it was really great.
I'd try doing it but I'd have to move away from the real winter I get here with snow and I can't stand florida summers. Too hot and humid for me as I like the cold.
My fiance and I always get up around 6:30 on Magic Kingdom day whenever we go to Disney World, just to see the show and be first in the park so we can book it over to Splash Mountain and Big Thunder RR!
My family and I finally made a Rope Drop ceremony last year. I was determined to get us up, dressed, fed and out the door in time to see one. I wonder if my husband will want to do it again this year? LOL It was a long day, we were there from 9am til 11:40pm. I thought my 8yr old was gonna drop dead, either that or push her 23month old sister out of her stoller. hahaha We all love Disney and we're there from morning til park closing. Got 66 more days til we're there.
Can anyone tell me if this still goes on? Because when I went this summer we went to breakfast at the Contemporary and didnt get there until 15 minutes after the park opened and I didn't even know if they still did this.

3 times gone to WDW and i have never seen or knew that this parade existed.Actually in no website of progam or anywhere is this show mentioned either officially or unoficially. This is a great discovery for disney fans like me. Thanks
I can't believe they have an opening! I NEVER knew and I've been there 16 times in the 21 that I've been alive! Thanks for posting...next time I'll be sure to see it!
i have been to WDW 6 times over 11 years and NEVER knew they had an actualy "show" before they opened. During the first part of this vid I thought it was just music and didnt realize they had dancers. THank you for this. also check out my vids, i hve some WDW vids.
Well the park itself doesn't open for a good 15 minutes after this show so you really would not have anything else to do. The only thing that would be open would be Main Street USA and even then the shops don't have cashiers until those 15 minutes are up anyway.
Soo don't be such a party pooper. The shows are the best part of Disney - the rides really aren't that great, that's for sure, so what are you trying to get into the park to see?
I have just been to Disneyland and it was a blast so I guess the people in this clip are pretty excited. GO TO SPLASH MOUNTAIN IN DISNEYLAND IT WAS SO SO AWESOME!!
