Noor Jehan a huge wasted talent! Had she remained in India instead of migrating to Pak. in the 1950s, she would have becum an uber-legend. People like Lata & her siblings would have been unknowns 2day. Had she stayed in India which is the perennial power-house of sub-continental entertainment, she would av dueted with Rafi. that would av been a dream team coz both of their amazing voices would av complimented each other. & even in her own right, she was a truly gifted singer.

Once Lata came to limelight in the late 1940's, Noor Jehan had no option but to run and take refuge in Pakistan. That's the truth. Her cheap voice wouldn't have lasted in India. NO WAY! In Pakistan, all she did was destroy rich married men's lives. Zubaida Khanum, Iqbal Bano, Naheed Niazi, all could sing better than her. Noor Jehan voice, as described by a true Punjabi man was like "A Phatta Dhol". I salute that Punjabi gentleman.
