That movie was financed by some very powerful people. The fact is the debt isn't caused by the average american, it's caused by politicians and too much subsidies and defense spendings, or too many bailouts. The movie, while right that the debt is a serious problem, says the solution is to hurt the people who were innocent of the crime in the first place! The debt isn't the problem, it's the system.
Debt is created as soon as the bank creates the dollar out of "thin air" and exchanges it for bonds that the government provides to it instead. As long as you have a single dollar created then an amount of debt is created as well. And how do you pay for this debt? You ask for a loan as a govenment/state from the same national banking insitution and so money is being created together with debt in a never ending growing curve. So do you realize how the system feeds itself?
I think I do, I don't know why you mentioned this. If anything my strength is finance. While the system feeds on itself, it can only work if there is economic growth. But the debt is increasing far faster than GDP, and it's also very very big. But like I said, debt in itself isn't the final problem and solution.

Frankly, on a critical point Carlin is right. The problem with this country is its owners. But that actually means the voters and the consumers, and quite frankly, the entire demographic of Carlin's fan base. Mostly a bunch of people who don't vote, don't know the names of their congressman or senator, couldn't tell you who their mayor is, etc. People who just magically expect government to do what they want while sitting on their ass, watching youtube, and bitching that no one listens.

I think he was over-rated because the liberals in the media, who get to decide minor things, like which celebrities to venerate (while the corporate owners dictate the editorial policies on things which actually matter), thought he was one of them. Clearly, he was no liberal, but rather something a trifle more sophisticated. We no longer have a meaningful impact on govt leadership, but the times our class has had are historically few and far between.
Instead of listening to Carlin and getting depressed about how bad about how we have it, we'd do better to look at ourselves thankfully in the big picture historically, then show some concern, put some of our disposable income and time into helping the sweatshop workers of the world who would do absolutely anything to be jammed by Carlin's "red white and blue dick".

The first time I watched this, Carlin seemed so profound and I felt indignant at our, the commoners, lot. Then after a lil' thinking, I realized the hierarchy he describes has always and will always exist. When you think of us in our correct historical perspective as peasants, serfs, vassals ...the worker bees have never had it so good. We have the freedom to change jobs, disposable time and money.
