Google Frankie Lymon Eternal. It is the best website for accurate information regarding Frankie and a place for those who knew Frankie and/or fans to share stories.
Frankie Lyman shoulda' been the Micheal Jackson o' the 50's were it not for racism, etc.... His life may not have been so tragic. In comparison, as for as talent today the pickinz's slim. Great talent will always have its adversaries. Back then, well hell, thangs ain't changed much 'round here. Somebody'z on som'em.
what's sad is that a 30 year old woman introducing heroin to him when he was only 15......he was a kid for crying out loud.....some women really aren't about shit....even back then....
This version is right up there with "Out in the Cold Again" for showcasing the remarkable range of Frankie's one-of-a-kind voice. What a great loss it was when he passed at a young age. He had it all over the imitators who came later, especially Michael Jackson.
Damn...I love this version of the song. This song is older then my parents, and Im 18. It would be everything different that we have more musicians like Frenkie, not like musicians nowadays. RIP Frenkie.
@1crankyvet As long as they stick to the truth of his life and away from the court case. With the right actors and the truth a movie about him would be oscar worthy.
WOWWW!!! That was probably the best version of that song that I've ever heard! Judy Garland does a really good job with it, but Lymon's voice is remarkably rich!
@lx0az9 Honey, Bieber ain't got nothing on Frankie. Just seeing that kid's face makes me feel like I'm being violated. He can't even sing for pete's sake and girls go crazy for him. It's unbelievable!
I am a "doo wop lover. Whenever the Teenagers performed, I'm usually there. I have pictures with them and, we chat about their background. So, you are reading this completely wrong! I did not say they are called "background singers!" When they perform, they are called "Frankie Lyman's teenagers.
he was like many talented young pop stars of today, they start out young, and live a life around ADULTS which sucks them down the wrong path, still didnt change the fact that he was a brilliant outstanding vocalist , at least we still have the great pleasure of being able to listen to the wonderful tracks he produced , i agree with chrissen1 , a proper tribute should be made in his memory , talent like his should never be forgotten..i have got a cd with all his tracks on , its brilliant !!!

@JeffRebornNow it's truly heart-wrenching for those that love to create for the pure sake of creation - to have their 'heART' exploited due to MANMADE materialism.
your art is representation of your heart, mind, and soul -- so, when folks taint it for their own selfish greed: gloom.
Frankie wasn't able to cut off those invisible puppet strings. he couldn't necessarily just get out, either. any creative soul knows that not expressing yourself is the equivalent of purposely not breathing.
@JeffRebornNow I love your powerful statement. I don't think most people understand - externally what you perceive to be a 'gift', also is a 'curse' internally for the creative and organic soul.
it's difficult to be authentic and heartistically expressive in this narcissistic, egotistic, captalistic, and materialistic world. it usually thrust the 'conflicted gifted' into unbearable depressive stupor, reclusion, and self-hatred.
I would like to see a movie about his life. Why do Fools Fall In Love is just bitter sweet memories of the wives and you know they were bias because they were all after his non-existing estate. I would like to see his child hood, discovering his voice, how the teenagers hooked up, his career on Columbia Records when he was an adult, etc.
Instead of making the awful and inane "why do fools fall in love" movie - a REAL bio pic of his life should be made so his voice and talents are really showcased and give him his props.....all everyone seems to know is that he died of a heroin overdose-I'm sure there were many positive moments in his life that he should be remembered for instead. RIP Frankie
It often seens as though some artists -- poets, actors, singers, musicians -- are so sensitive to the stimuli of the world, that there talent -- which is based on that sensitivity -- comes at a great cost. The world is often too much for them. They need not have had the worst of lives, but they felt every pain and frustration acutely; whereas, someone with a coarser nature would not have been so affect.
@GrindStreetMusic Not really a good excuse, but yeah they did. Probably a lot of the African American singers of the time had to be "ON" for most of their life, and heroin was the only way they could come back down. Remember, this was the times when open discrimination was a large part of America. Life was not easy, but heroin was.
@callofduty2freak It was no big secret that he used in his younger days, but it hasn't even been proven that he actually died from an o.d. Honestly, I wouldn't be so sure of it until I see an actual autopsy report or a death certificate, which knowing how screwed up the country was back then about race, they probably just threw him over to the side and didn't worry about anything.
Frankie Lymon was tha greatest singer of them all....he lived a fast life....It's sad for me to even know that...Fame will mess anyone if there not careful...
@DctrNugget U really think so, naww never, even if he would of lived his life,i dnt think he wulda been bigger,mj broke barriers.but lymon was so beautifully gifted
This guy had such a fantastic voice. It's a shame that he didn't have a strong mentor to keep him on track! However, two of his background guys are still singing. And, I enjoy their performances.
@pookiedoowop frankie did have a mentor of sorts, the person who helped him get n2 the bizness and later funded his rehab...and u say 2 of his background singers..tho the label pushed frankie in front of the rest of the Teenagers, they were all members of the same group..im sure the 2 remaining Teenagers wouldnt appreciate being called frankie's background singers
I guess in 1957 Lymon and the Teenagers split apart. As a solo artist, Lymon was not nearly as successful as he was with the Teenagers. His voice changed and he lost his signature voice. Lymon died from a drug overdose at age 26.
