to anyone who has questioned why horses have for centuries been revered companions... here is a prime example. They heal the soul, bring out your joy, and are the best comfort in any life.

It is amazing how the horse responds to her you can tell that if a animal understand love then he truly loves her I think it is great and how he helped her is fantastic that is for sure I hope they can be together as long as they are able.
i had a horse when i was a kid he used to hug me like that. horses r just wonderful creatures. i have had a life that was terrible just like the woman did but that wasnt my entire life it was after my freshmen yr in high school and after my horse was sold on me :( i miss having a horse they r such comforting animals

This is my very beloved family/friend/auntie in my eyes. I miss her very much, my mom was very very close with Phyllis. I remember when my brother and I were very young, and we used to love getting the smooches and hugs from Shag-Ra. They are very missed and loved <3
I wish there was a way to take all the horses who need to be adopted and join them up with prisoners and young people who need to be rehabilitated. What a sweet union. Animals help us.

I've always loved this story. It has such a "happy ending" for both of them which is just awesome in my book! When a person is able to develop such a bond with an animal, it is like magic, truly like magic. I got to have a little dog named 'Useless' in my life...and I honestly believe he saved my life. Since he passed away, I have been blessed with many, many more close bonds like this and I cherish each one. I will never forget my bestfriend, Useless and what he did for me. Amazing!

I raised a foal. She is 11 yrs. now (I'm 66), and all she knows she learned from me. A big responsiblity, when you think about it! I know how special she is, and that she reserves certain of her antics especially for me...but she's (almost) always a lady, and seems to appreciate the differences between kids and adults, small animals and the more threatening wild ones that sometimes lurk around her territory. She will raise and lower her "voice" to mimick me...funny to see. Gotta love horses!

@tinkermi" There can be no other reason then, through God's mysterious ways for Shag Ra & Phyllis finding each other. God does know what's best. Our animals that come from the ocean, our beautiful landscapes or taking in all the glory knows for certain there is something going on here. For me, it's my Higher Power.

Is this a wonderful story? YES and I'm glad SHE found the horse(it certainly had nothing to do with a god). If she didn't have an interest in animals to begin with-she would NEVER have gotten the horse-not like a god dropped the horse down to her from the sky!! lol o.o

99minerkc You missed the complete point. It is not that this is an amazing horse, it is that two suffering creatures found and healed each other.. That is most definitely a gift from God. I am sorry that you are so busy criticizing lovely things in life that you can not see God's work.

@99minerkc Have to agree with you on that one. LOL if it dropped out of the sky that might not be a really good thing. I am just imagining a horse doing just that. Maybe give it a parachute.

God Bless this woman. God created so many wonderful four legged and two legged creatures to actually act as angels. It always amazes me how animals can be abused yet if given the chance can give love beyond earthly bounds. There is nothing like the love of an animal or a child. God Bless this woman and her wonder horse.
