  • puissant !

  • He takes it to the brink of ruin and then brings it back dripping with awesomeness. Inspiration incarnate.

  • wow!

  • head shot

  • Great drawing!!!

More top artists drawing in our channel

    Best regards

  • is fucking perfect!!!!

  • art teachers always have some stupid shit to say. brainwash.

  • I think smudging only looks bad when u don't have a good understanding of light n shadows (values), in other words not knowing how to draw. But it also depends on the medium, smudging with charcoal does look a hell of a lot better then graphite. As for the art teacher that said that? well there's a reason why so many pros say they're self-taught..

  • AmaZING!!!

  • Lol @ your art teacher telling you nmot to smudge when thats one of the key techniques in drawing

  • we have to draw a full value skull for head drawing class... i am SO doing it in this style, heheheheh >w<

  • fuckin a

  • yeah my drawing teacher told me the same :x

    but this is awesome really

  • impressionante como começa td sem forma e o troço surge bem rapidinho hehehe

    muito bom

  • in every drawing i do, i smudge

    especaly if its 3-D

  • Awesome!

  • very good

  • credit where credits due man. I usialy dont like the smudging, but it works

  • Shawn you are pro. Need to learn alotttttt before I can master this, any good tips are welcome.

  • WHAT SONG IS THIS

  • Shawn was a few grads ahead of me in highschool (Cortland NY) He did a life-size Wolverine airbrushing on my friends wall, and a few other things in town. Bryan Bancroft (our tattoo artist) got Shawn into tattooing, and he's already mastered it! I'm saving my other arm just for him! haha Sam -

  • that was fuckin sick

  • :O wooooow thats awesome

  • what all tools were used here?

  • Very good use of the pinpoint eraser, this guy is incredible and paints like the old masters even though he has devised his own techniques and brought the whole thing up to date with unique ideas and subject matter.

  • Beautiful. :)

  • hey grindtime i dont hate on u tube so dont take me bad but art divides humans from hipocrytes it doesnt matter how you do it art is art id prefer an eraser to smudge cuz its a bitch to get off my fingers

  • What's the small red tool he uses?

  • charcoal pencil

  • amazing of what a brain is capable of

  • Looks like he's using charcoal pencils.

  • what kind of pencil's he using

  • Great drawing, this is just a sketch though... In sketching, smudging with your fingers should be just fine. I'm sure if Shawn Barber really wanted to he would take this sketch as a rough draft and spend some time on a new one and really detail and complete a realistic skull even better than this, but I'm sure this is doodling to him.

  • Omg, i love shawn barber. <33

    Hes an amazing artist.

  • wat is a name of the music ?

  • read the description.

  • Read jackass ------------------>

  • They Both mean

    The Strangers By The Bronx

  • never to smudge???? what kind of an asshole was he???? Why not smudge??? more smudge to the people!! *drunk while writing this*

  • @navitos exactly the old masters especially Carvaggio smuged. i know about cross hatching. that it helps to stregnthen skill but still not smudging is like not breathing

  • @PD19954 Exactly! :) Hahaha damn, i was obviously drunk when i wrote that comment, but i stand by it hehe xD

  • and to think that my art teacher told me to never smudge. huh, that proves that bitch wrong.

  • heh ive heard that from alot of art teachers, they are idiots, even the old masters smuged! there is one exception though and that is laurie lipton her technique is absolutly amazing!! all of her work is tiny little lines!!

  • thanks for the info on Laurie Lipton...her work is amazingly detailed.

  • anyone who ever tells you not to ever do something in art is just a fuckin motherfuckin bitch ass turd .. and if you listen .. then you're a sheep ..

  • lol sure as hell does. but i think your teacher meant not to smudge with your fingers, which does usually fuck up your drawing. still though that helljuice guy is 100% right do whatcha want

  • @fatasskrimson Ya dude i totally agree with navi, if you can use it do it... if you gotta darken out a whole section and then erase certain sections of that whole dark area for lighter shade do it. Use what your provided by your utencils and your one step closer to being unstoppable.

  • @fatasskrimson ur art teacher is retarted.

of course you smudge in art, you do what ever the hellyou feel like.

  • @fatasskrimson your art teacher was a tool.

  • @fatasskrimson

When beginners start drawing, they use smudging as a fall back and it can look really really bad if not used correctly. Most any art teacher worth their salt will tell you not to smudge and to just change pressure on the pencil instead. It is something that can look amazingly good if done perfectly, but otherwise will end up looking like shit. Try not to be disrespectful to your teacher and be thankful she passed on her knowledge to you.

  • @fatasskrimson that was a charcoal pencil, those are meant to smudge, smudging with a regular graphite pencil looks pretty bad,

  • @fatasskrimson lol ya man i know what u mean our high school art teacher used to say a similar thing. but one of the best ways to blend is to smudge. :)

  • Oh he came from my little town and to think he so popular ...I don't know why he isn't in are hall fame at are school : /

  • charcoal pencils?

  • fantastic!

  • holy shit major skill congrats

  • i love this video...

  • That skull is BADASS!!

  • this is insane

  • Awesome!!

  • damn your good

  • Damn You're so freaking Awesome

  • The jaw is too big. TOO BIG.

  • lmao

  • Shawn Barber rocks!

  • Awsome, I wonder what kinda tools he used.

  • He uses charcoal i think.

  • DANG!!!

  • lovin` it!

    love the bronx too :)

heartattack might have been a better choice, a little more mainstream and clean.

  • looking good but maybe the smoothign is a bit to much, destros lot of the pencil's texture

  • you missed a spot.
