  • If you are a Torah observant Jew than joining this community wouldn't be that hard...except you have to know Yiddish and be a Chosid, a very hard lifestyle in this day an age...they have an average of 6-14 kids or so

  • Kiryas Joel is becoming a very interesting place. It's in effect a little Jewish state within a state. I would say we have a small unofficial "Yiddishe mluche" in NY stretching from Brooklyn to Lakewood, Monsey, Kiryas Joel, New Square and back to Brooklyn.

  • @evrei909 What is the dance all about?i have seen a bride in some pictures, is this the Chassidic way of "giving away" a daughter or bringing her in to a family?

  • Which satmar rov is this...

  • Mazal Tov

  • satmar jews= hungarians.........

  • yes, and what?

  • what is this suppose to mean?

  • It is the way the Rebba celebrates with a female child or grandchild. It is called the Mitzvah Tantz. Literally it means good dead dance. It is a Mitzvah or good deed at a wedding to bring joy to the bride and groom and this is the way the Rebbe brings joy to the bride. They dance with the rebbe holding a gartel or the piece of cloth you see the rebbe holding and the bride holds the other end.

  • The men and women don't dance together, but in some cases the bride can dance with her husband, father, grandfather, usually holding this piece of cloth.

Most Jewish families don't have that many people at a wedding, but some Hassids have seven kids or more so the extended family will be huge.

  • Thanks for the explanation, I enjoy viewing this video and other Jewish ones. I find the Jewish faith very good to the world.

  • Freylakh zol zeyn!
