@thurmanjr7 uh, yyyyaa, i understand that.. which is why i said what i said. and what other engine are you referring to that the LS73 is smaller than.. just curious..
Contrary to popular belief, Corvette's are not drag racing cars. They were built primarily for road racing/circuit racing. They are still potent drag racers though, and I think that LS3 C6's run mid 12's stock, while a Z06 will be in the high 11's. It all depends on the launch!
@Razor4ever The LS3 is a fantastic engine. But the LS7 is a true racing engine put into a street car. Unless you take it to the track, you'll probably never be able to use the LS7 to it's true potential. If you're just looking for a hot-rod for the street, an LS3 Corvette will more than suffice. The bolt-on gains are great and its a very reliable engine. Again, unless you constantly go to the track an LS7 is over-kill for the street (dry sump oil system, 7K RPM red line, etc).
@KTM990WFO You mean track as a circuit or a drag strip :)? Im more planning to do drag racing, since there are no good circuit tracks in my country. There is the Nur ofcourse, but its like 1k km's from me.
@KTM990WFO If I had anything powered by an LS7, it would have a consistant relationship with 7000rpm, And I would be nowhere near any racetrack where such relations would occur.
@madtownmadman It's easy to say that but when you have an LS7 the only place you can really punch it as far as the street goes would be the highway or some back road with a long straight away. Anywhere else and you have to be a very capable driver to handle the power/chassis. You even have to respect the power from a base C6. It's not that hard to get into a Corvette though. My dad bought an 06 Z06 with 8K miles on it for $45K. $5K into it and he has ZR1 power. Look around.
I got 2008 c6 ls3 but it's totaly stock what do you advice me to put on to give me more power and what are the items that you have put on your car? and thanks :)
@7amadomilani Stick some after-market air coolers for maybe 25 more horsepower if you replace everything, if you want to go on a big budgtet you can stick a turbo on there for a few grand and get tons of more power and even better mpg..
@iceman67340 American Racing made the headers with 1 7/8" primaries that connected to 3" midpipe so it could bolt up to a 3" Z06 Corsa exhaust. You are right the stock exhaust is 2.5", but if you get headers with a 3" midpipe, a 3" exhaust will bolt right up.
The Z06 is geared to do 60 in 1st, not this one. The base model has the LS3. Regardless of whether the LS3 has the base gears or z51 track package gearing, it still doesn't do 60 mph in 1st. Watch the video again, and you can clearly see it shift way before 60 at redline.
The base (non z51) model might actually have the same gears as the Z06. I can't really remember; the redline of the engine is certainly lower though. Either way, it results in a first gear that can't reach 60. You get the point :)
That sounds NOICE! My '09 Duramax with 4" straight pipe sounds awesome, but still can't beat the musical tone of a gas Chevy V8! Nice ride's man, Love the 'Vette and Yukon.
but wait....well isnt the 6.2L in the GMC Yukon Denali?? if thats the case then they dropped the LS3 in the Denali's, Escalades, and Tahoes?? if im correct..not sure..

@Twinkmasta1 And the reason why the LQ9 is iron, because iron has higher melting point, and the LQ9 and the L92 for the 6.2 are built for towing, and heavy towing raises EGT's to levels where it would melt an aluminum block or at least deform it.
Same reason they detune the vette engine in the camaro and trans am....just so they don't become faster than the vette, because that's GM's flagship car, why would they have a little nothing car beat their "best" car?
Exactly lol i wouldnt mind having a Trans Am with a LS1 block tuned just like a Corvette....if thats the case then i wouldnt really care to buy the Corvette...
your right. ill never own one of those. prob ride in one. but i will however be acquiring a LS3 09 vette around this time next year, and i plan on procharging it. cyber grey with rims and tint and led tail lamp with M6 60# injectors and kooks 1 7/8 with corsa sport. maybe some springs and decent tires go run some 10's. just subscribe and follow my lead.
Give me pushrods any day of the week. They make so much lower end torque vs the ohc engines. The car runs low 12s @ 117+ mph stock and gets 30+ mpg on the highway. What more do people want?
I don't understand the rip against the Corvette. So it uses a push rod motor....Fiat was using DOHC is the 1930s so the argument that the Vette motor is outdated is null and void. The interior is also not bad anymore with the EL gauges and nice NAV system. The car looks great, is reliable, fast and gets great mpg. What more do you need? Make mine the Zo6!!
@Marc99GT that makes two of us...i currently drive ls2...i was thinking of procharging...but now im going to get one of these and header and vortech it....vortech superchargers on these car is rindonkulous.
He more or less let's it rip at second 6, and he reaches 60MPH at second 10..so yea 3.9 is pretty accurate..Corvettes are the shietttt.. love that screaming engine..
Scary thing is, that is with some bolt-ons and a tune. Imagine with a good cam what it will do. The headers and exhaust, probably 3", is making a big difference.
3.9 to 60 in a stock ls3 vette. With these mods mid 3's are not out of the question. I clocked 0-100 in 8 seconds flat almost. Crazy fast. for a 50 thousand dollar car.
You have to go for a ride in an LS3 vette to appreciate how fast that car is. I have been in every year vette going back to the 80s, but the LS3 feels totally different and even better than the LS6. It must be the torque curve because the car feels too fast stock vs the LS2.
4.6 is not even close. It is definitely in the 3s and it hits 100 real fast. The LS3 is a totally different animal and with those mods, they shoot past 400 rwhp and good flat torque curve. Go for a ride in one with just exhaust mods and a tune and you will see for yourself. Stock they are trapping 117-120 mph auto or manual.
Damn man, that thing is fast and you can shift your azz off . I'm looking to buy an 06 A6 Corvette. I realize it has the LS2, but with some mods, it will fly. Nice job.
I agree when comparing stock vs stock. The first things I would do is toss the stock rear gears and converter. The converter makes all of the difference in the world in an automatic. I drag raced a Turbocharged 99 GT auto and owned an 87 Buick Grand National. When the A6 is set up right, it makes the car unbelievably quick.
You must be pretty comfortable in the vet, you did a really good job. Fast launch and great shifts. Im thinking about pickin one up in place of my supra. Does it have a decent amount of legroom and head room, because I am 6ft 6 so it is kind of important to me.
Thanks, consider the fact, I'm holding the camera with my left hand bracing the steering wheel while I shift with my right hand too. :) The Vette has good interior dimensions. I'm 6'2" and fit easily, so depending on your leg/torso length you should fit well too. If you can fit in a Supra, you should be able to fit in a Vette.
@WS6TALS1 A bolt on ls3 will not keep up with a stock ls7 car, and get pulled hard. You will need a cam to do that. Overlap a dyno of the 2 cars, and take a look at the power curve.
@mawk27 Actually the 0-100 times for this particular bolt on car is very, very close to a stock Z06. Given what an LS3 puts down stock- then add bolt ons and a tune it doesnt surprise me. Im not starting a fire here but it pulls pretty hard- A c6 z06 will though do better than it beyond 100 and yes 0-100 as well. I think you misunderstood my first post.
I understand what you are saying. I have a blown LS3 vette that made 602rwhp, tuned it back down and pulled timing out of it. I also have a C5Z06(bolt on/cam, 435rwhp) that I cut 1.6-1.7 60ft's in. You can check my videos to see a 1.7ish 60ft in my stock ls3 on the street, and some low 1.7's in my c5 at the track.
good lord that thing is amazing. i was never a vette fan but the C6 is incredible. i hope the ls3 cars will be reasonably priced in a few years when they are used

3.9 to 60 in a stock ls3 vette. With these mods mid 3's are not out of the question. I clocked 0-100 in 8 seconds flat almost. Crazy fast. for a 50 thousand dollar car.

holy motherfather.......is that really LS3 corvette?;;;;
saudim46 2 years ago
You have to go for a ride in an LS3 vette to appreciate how fast that car is. I have been in every year vette going back to the 80s, but the LS3 feels totally different and even better than the LS6. It must be the torque curve because the car feels too fast stock vs the LS2.
Marc99GT 2 years ago
3 seconds? u fags are out of your mind.. try around 4.6 if that.. stupid fucks.. this is not a porche GT2
Ruskivolk114 2 years ago
Ironic you are calling people stupid f*ucks when you obviously do not know what a stopwatch is or how to use it.
quikagc5 2 years ago 2
4.6 is not even close. It is definitely in the 3s and it hits 100 real fast. The LS3 is a totally different animal and with those mods, they shoot past 400 rwhp and good flat torque curve. Go for a ride in one with just exhaust mods and a tune and you will see for yourself. Stock they are trapping 117-120 mph auto or manual.

I am shocked with just those modifications, that thing can pull mid 3 Second runs to 60...That beats the Z06!
SmokenAces88 2 years ago
deff looks like your 0 to 60 time is in the 3 second range...

Damn man, that thing is fast and you can shift your azz off . I'm looking to buy an 06 A6 Corvette. I realize it has the LS2, but with some mods, it will fly. Nice job.
Marc99GT 2 years ago
ls2 is only a tenth or two slower than ls3 main difference is the heads and air intake. But the m6 is way more fun than the a6.
rmm2424 2 years ago
I agree when comparing stock vs stock. The first things I would do is toss the stock rear gears and converter. The converter makes all of the difference in the world in an automatic. I drag raced a Turbocharged 99 GT auto and owned an 87 Buick Grand National. When the A6 is set up right, it makes the car unbelievably quick.

You must be pretty comfortable in the vet, you did a really good job. Fast launch and great shifts. Im thinking about pickin one up in place of my supra. Does it have a decent amount of legroom and head room, because I am 6ft 6 so it is kind of important to me.
94SuPraGuY 2 years ago
Thanks, consider the fact, I'm holding the camera with my left hand bracing the steering wheel while I shift with my right hand too. :) The Vette has good interior dimensions. I'm 6'2" and fit easily, so depending on your leg/torso length you should fit well too. If you can fit in a Supra, you should be able to fit in a Vette.

wow why spend the money on a z06 when simply bolt ons makes an ls3 rip like this...wow- good drivin too
WS6TALS1 2 years ago 11
yeah man im the same, just bolties and a head/cam pack on a c6 will do just fine in my book, maybe a few suspension and brake upgrades but
praetorian2150 2 years ago
@WS6TALS1 A bolt on ls3 will not keep up with a stock ls7 car, and get pulled hard. You will need a cam to do that. Overlap a dyno of the 2 cars, and take a look at the power curve.
mawk27 1 year ago
@mawk27 Actually the 0-100 times for this particular bolt on car is very, very close to a stock Z06. Given what an LS3 puts down stock- then add bolt ons and a tune it doesnt surprise me. Im not starting a fire here but it pulls pretty hard- A c6 z06 will though do better than it beyond 100 and yes 0-100 as well. I think you misunderstood my first post.
WS6TALS1 1 year ago
@WS6TALS1
Eitherway, nice ride and thanks for the video!

@WS6TALS1 "why spend money on a z06 when simply bolt ons makes an ls3 rip like this..."
Because more displacement makes more power!

Yes, the Z51 package has different gearing. Mainly a shorter second gear for autocross use.
