  • Superb acting from both of them.

  • I'm not gonna call ahead.

  • The Office is a genuine masterpiece

  • awkward

  • man this show should have had a longer run

  • "Let's See"!! haha

  • original, and brilliant

  • not gonna call a head

  • should call ahead.

  • Subtle...a work of genius!

  • I love the part when he says " exaggerating" and then flick his head and rolls his eyes lololol. Love The office, it makes my life complete!

  • "learn that!!"

  • love the subtle change of tone over the coarse of a minute. David always having to deny accusations by shoving it off with a laugh. classic.

  • david's laugh is adorable when he lifts his shoulders up and laughs!

  • HE'S GOT ONE O-LEVEL!!!

  • Comment removed

  • arrrrrr noooo!! you missed the best bit out :(

    just afetr that, they sit down and Gareth says again;

    you should call ahead

    an david replies abit frustrated

IM NOT GONNA CALL AHEAD! hahahaha

  • So is he actually welcome or not? No one can give an answer.

  • @lcsxwtian

    Answer:1 year late M8:

Worked in Offices for 40 years and its embarassing if the old Boss KEEPS coming back.

The "Young Guns" have finally got their wish and moved up once the older Boss has left and (often) only humoured in originally as they wanted to "keep friendly with the Boss".

Now he's history they not only have no need to do that but an "intruder" or 2outsider" actually gets in the way.

SAD but its life's harsh reality so after the "Hello's" what do they do ?

  • I'm not from Britain and I'm not from America either. I think the British version appeals to intelligent people and the American version appeals to the lowest common denominator. The American version is a sitcom that has nothing to do with real office life and is acted as if it were a typical sitcom. Gervais actually understands comedy, which is what makes this original version so much better.

  • Missed out the best bit.. "I'M NOT GONNA CALL AHEAD!"

  • AWKWARD! lolol

  • Love it!

  • one of the best scenes in my opinion.

  • Cringe factor at all time HIGH lol

  • Not disruptive!!

  • Shut it Gareth, David Brent DOESNT call ahead!

  • So uncomfortable.

  • "I'll still get in" lol

  • haha Genius, kind of creepy though!

  • It's good for them, it's good for the company, so it should be good for you. LEARN THAT.

  • just enjoy the programme and laugh dont look so much into it, fuck me some ppl have no sense of humour.

  • I <3 the british office. I've only seen about two episodes of the US version, and it was excruciating compared to this.

Anything with Ricky Gervais in, I want to see anyway, he's a comedian today that is like no other.

  • 6 years of medical training.. he's got 1 O-level

  • Quality.. Are they adlibbing at times.. Great

  • nah. its like all in the script

  • best actors ever.

  • I just love the suppressed aggressions in this clip, especially from David. The British "the Office" is the best show ever made.

  • @SwedenRocks73 haha so true, half the show is just brents suppressed aggression. he does it so well

  • I love their awkward laughter.

  • lmao, so brilliant.

  • NOT DISTRUPTIVE

  • hahah i love the "learn that!" after he says "so it should be good for you"

i love those kind of little touches gervais makes. hilaaarious

  • veastix you got to remember what the office is, its meant to be a doccumentry

  • Might be too obvious of an observation, but when the script is so so good, even a mediocre actor can do an excellent job (I am not saying of course that they are mediocre actors). Vice-versa, if an actor is given a bad script, there's little he/she can do about it. The good acting of the entire cast, is greatly due to the hard work that Gervais and Merchant into developing the script.

  • 'I'll lock the door. Well i'll still get in' lmao

  • "not gunna call ahead, your not a doctor"

  • CRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGE.

  • im not gonna call ahead

  • best acting ever !! ::===)))))

  • Comment removed

  • Just supurb acting.

  • 'Well I bought that from Halfords!'

  • The greatest. The only way I can even stomach the American Office is that Gervais is seeing a big payday for selling the rights. "Rather!"

  • i agree, the office us literally makes me feel sick that it would use the name, this is in another class of its own

  • Agreed. The American Office has a vibe that we cannot connect with at all.

  • tim is jim and gareth is dwight

  • Tim's a loser letting simple Gareth storm ahead, then again he's always on about doing something else.

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely hilarious!

    "Learn that"

  • "... i'll still get in!"

  • "Learn that!"

  • (very fast) its good for themm its good for the company so it should be good for you hahah

    call ahead

  • Learn that!

  • sensational... lol

  • wtf i didnt see any of the last series.. how come gareth has davids job!?!?

  • These are christmas specials, after the second series. If you haven't seen them, watch now, amazing

  • In Season Two it is hinted that Gareth takes over David's job.

  • Good luck NOT getting abused endlessly from any Office fan.

  • such good acting

  • arr you missed the best bit, where he goes at the end dead loud! " IM NOT GONNA CCALL AHEAD" and dampens the atmosphere haha..as usual

  • Its so awkward that its painful lol. "not gonna call ahead"

  • "well i bought that" lol brilliant

  • I love Mackenzie Crook xD

  • Uh... What?

  • what did he pull from the drawer? is that a window squeegee or something?

  • I was wondering that too. It's either that, but considering its David, it's probably something far far worse.

  • yeh its a window wiper/scraper thing

  • LMFAO!!! "Well I bought that... from Halfords" LMAO!

  • This is amazing acting :-)

  • These guys are incredible actors.

  • yeah they really are

  • "You should call ahead..."

"Ha haa...haaa... 'm not gonna call ahead..."

  • "Bit disruptive - NOT disruptive!!"

    Absolutely epic indeed.

  • Epic.

  • what are you on about?

  • r u american? coz ur talkin no sense

  • You do know that it's a Sitcom? Not a real life documentary.

  • Lol is 'the office' that believable??

  • lol at u

  • Love your Profile! TOP MAN!

btw:Having been in Offices since 1971..37 years ago..I know one of the most embarassing moments is when old bosses return during Office time and their prodigies have taken their hot seat.Suddenly the underlings do NOT have to suck up to them. Its a great shame but, sadly, that is the reality. The REAL test of friendship, officewise,is when people leave and they still CHOOSE to keep in contact.

Many Office "friendships" are just mutually convenient.

  • Thats for "Dominator"....

Brilliant observational British acting. They make their points thru' laughter but they want to make the point without causing upset. Many other Nations just tell it like it us which is quite insensitive I think.

  • "Learn that!" I love that part so much.

  • Me too, that's the best bit. Inside Brent is angry as hell and shouting when he says that but it's still covered up with the 'big joke' delivery. Class acting by both, and my point has always been that you just don't get material like that in the US version. It's not even on the same wave length, and as such I don't think they should ever be compared

  • Absolute genius

  • *cringes*

    I love the office

  • "I didn't.. Shuuut uuupp.. What are you talkin' about?"

  • "well i bought that.. from halfords" hahaha

  • love gareths laugh at 0.33. quality scene.

  • This is the pinnacle of great comedy writing.

  • Pug-nosed Gimp...

  • Comedy Gold, it gets under you skin!

I'm not going to call ahead

  • Great take on covering up arguments with forced politeness.

  • 1 o-level?!? and i thought only maggie's character was fleshed out with pilkington traits. looks like gareth too incorporates some of the k-man. thanks for posting!

  • Brent...you Beardy Twat

  • still get in lets see!!!

  • This series was far too real...it's very uncomfortable to watch.

  • true.. it was uncomfortable at times, but you have to admit, great acting

  • Love Gareth's evading eyes and ajusting his tie as he says "always nice to see you" in a sort of rehearsed way.

  • As usual with the brilliant UK Office its TOTALLY realistic...Sadly I've seen many times in Offices when the former Boss has retired or left and "popped in"..first time:O.K...."Look everyone here's Bernie or whoever"...after a few times its embarassing for all concerned.Very sad,but after 35 years observation VERY true!

  • not gonna call ahead, your not a doctor, if you were a doctor id make an appointment. LOL

  • well i bought that from halfords, lol

  • brilliantly done

  • yeah, you're right, aaronfledge...a bit sad, really.

  • The comedy is almost too realistic for comfort. This is a perfect example of how people cover up very serious arguments by laughing and pretending it's a joke. A lot of social jokes aren't really jokes at all!

  • talk about brilliant banter.love it

  • No I didnt! Shut up! What you talking about!...
