why do people want to still learn cantonese? Mandarin is "chinese". if people start learning cantonese theyre going to be way behind the times when China and BEIJING are the world leaders. so...learn chinese, not this thing
Catonese is older than Mandarin and is one of the 5 major dialects. So, actually Cantonese is spoken more. Mandarin has only been around for a little over 700 years and Cantonese has been around over 2000 years. Most people in Hong Kong know both Cantonese and Mandarin. Although Hong Kong was handed back to China in 1997, it is still the cultural capital.
I don't speak Cantonese so this video is as helpful as @/?*&$%"£r!"£$%^&*()_+@:>?+_)(*&^%$£".......did you understand that sonichub, now you know how I feel. No offence meant.
You will surely miss both getting a laugh out of it, and learning sth, then. There is plenty of stuff for beginners around, though. I hope one day your Cantonese will be good enough that you can come back and understand why this is so hilarious...
i am a chinese but i am keen on learning cantonese. i only now focus on cantonese and sometimes will evenn forget how to speak chinese, replacing the words as cantonese. lol. i now only watch cantonese dramas, i mean hong kong dramas, and is quite easier for me to listen.
I am a cantonese but I love Japanese a lot. (Started learning Jap recently) but seriously, when I challenged myself to learn French as well... Oh wow! I think I did better focus more on Jap. Learning to speak numbers in French alone has already caused my brain to go haywire
It depends what your first language is and what other languages you speak. If you speak Mandarin it won't be such a challenge to learn Cantonese. It's also far easier for Asian speakers of Japanese or Korean to learn Cantonese than for them to learn English because there are so much of their vocabulary was borrowed from Chinese. So, obviously Cantonese should be made a lingua franca in Asia.
Spanish is my 2nd language and because of that, Learning Japanese was a piece of cake (due to all of the pronounciation), Korean ended up being in my head because I watch tons of K-Drama. knowing 5 languages makes job opportunities endless. though I expect my little sister to surpass me ( she's only 10 and knows 3 languages)
i hear the girl said lau diu, and the second one she said lai diu but the word is written as "dei diu" i don't get it at all
what's that mean actually, and why some of the video there is someone showing middle finger?? don't comprehend at all. is this learning or mocking honestly??
No, this won't be much help as a learning tool for beginners. If that's what you want, you'll need to look elsewhere. It's more like a parody of what often passes for language teaching. I love her sense of humour. Great stuff!
haha this is the only word in Mandarin my friends taught me. Those two were so funny.. but my friend spelled it "diao" .... Is it a mistake? Or is there a reason for this spelling?
hehe it's like the many uses of 'Fuck' in the english vocab. Lau Diu kinda means inviting trouble or a fight and dai diu means the person deserves it lol
Hahaha!!! I saw this a long time ago, it still cracks me up now I'm watching it again!!
