Hi James, that was wonderful of you to post this and to continue doing all you do for Hillel's memory. I hope you are having a very good life of your own as well - if you would ever like to come for Shabbas or anything else at Chabad please pop in any time! Not sure where you are, but there is always a Chabad somewhere near everywhere. Just look it up and come on in!
Yessah!!!! I just bought the T shirt, can't wait. James, i wish you every success. Uplift is my favorite Chilis album, and Hillel rocks that shit. Peace!! John from Australia
I'm sure the new guitarist will be wonderful, but you can't help getting attached to the old ones...
Hillel is the saddest, naturally because he died due to misuse. But he was great, and Frusciante was great. The RHCP were lucky to have such wonderful guitarists.
Ahhhh really? LOL very cool. I love Hillel!!! My name(max) in hebrew is Hillel!!! I have the Chilis logo on my wrist im gonna get Hillel & John in it...3 best guitarists ever. Hillel, Hendrix, Frusciante. Miss Hillel. My playing is dedicated to these 3. Love you HILLEL<3
rhcp are my favourite band and I love all of their work but my favourite albums are the first five , chilis have created their own genere and hillel was so amazing. he was so creative and all.his powerful riffs and fleas hyperactive bass lines. just amazing. Im the guitar player and hillel and john are my biggest influences
When i first read Scar tissue, my heart sank when hillel died.. i knew he was dead, but the way Anthony described his feelings and experiences.. It was Heart wrenching to say the least.
my brother met him at show in 87', and said he was a very nice guy. He definately shows it in this video. he had the music and the charm that'll always inspire me, and the rest of the world. RIP Hillel
my brother said he was a nice guy when he met him at a show in 87'. It shows in this video. he was an inspiring dude, the music and the charm. RIP Hillel
when anthony speaks you can see alot of hillel's personality left in him from when he was still around. Like hillel is vicariously living through anthony from the dead. ahhh hillel you're missed.
Hey I am a true fan of the R.H.C.P. I like the new stuff (1989-Now) so much I decided to look deeper into their discography. Through that I found the Old Stuff (1984-1988). Albums like Freaky Styley. I am a drummer, but I was amazed by the outstanding musicianship by Hillel. He was a pure genius and unique talent. I wish he was still creating music and inspiring more generations to come. Anyway, I am truly sorry for your loss.
just read Scar Tissue. Hillel seemed like a wonderful guy who created something fantastic with his friends from Fairfax High. This is a very nice tribute.
i read it, and i hate reading. its an amazing book and makes you think of life in a whole different way. hillel was the shit, and thats the truth. once he passed, the rhcp chemestry was just gone
Hilliel is a great infulence on me and my interest in music ... its such a shame the world never got to see more of his amazin talent ... and James .. tht ideo is amazin ... im sure he would be proud knowin tht you are keep th memeory of him alive .... RIP Hillel ... we miss your awesome music .
James, God bless you man! You are a key player in keeping the spirit of Hillel Alive. You are amazing, and Hillel is looking down right now with Hendrix and Cobain with a big smile on his face and a fiery passion in his heart. :-)
RIP Hillel. WE all miss your awesome funk to this day. Im sure youre up there smiling on the rest of the guys now doing what they love. god bless slim
i also think its wonderful, james, that you're still doing all you can for people to remember your brother and recognise what a spectacular person he was.
You made a lasting impression on the band hillel. You had fun while you were with us and im sure your still rocking out in your afterlife. RHCP 4 Life
hey James man i'm so sorry about your loss, Hillel was a great artist and i'm sure he was a great person too. I was wondering though, are you still in touch with Anthony and Flea?
oh, god, you're the brother of hillel slovack, man. you're lucky. YOUR brother was one of the most important boy in the band. but, i saw the interview and now i think that he was a good man, too. i can't believe he died...and how the band can still write songs, music and get on the stage without him. "i'll see you later, my lovely man, if i can..." that made me cry. HILLEL WE LOVE YOU RIP
nine minute Jam...I give it away as a bonus Cd. It's priceless. A bunch of never released pepper old school jams! GO TO my web site. CRUSHGROOVE and take a listen to more of this jam.
My band had a drink with him in 88, backstage at Camden Electric Ballroom, he was the only Pepper that did. The rest were self-contained to say the least, or maybe they were coming down off smack and didn't want to be sociable.
I think what he was trying to say is...Hillel was humble and didnt matter who you where, he would talk two you and be nice . Hillel never bragged on how good he was. Hille, was on of a kind.
Oh man, I miss his humor! I watched and taped the first (two) documentarie(s) on Dutch TV in 1988 (& 1990; in which John Frusciante was introduced). I was blown away by Hillel's honesty. He was completely himself and extremely funny! Nice what you're doing for your brother; he's also still missed over here. love & respect
I watch this video every fuckin' day. I just feel incomplete without it. Thank you so much for uploading this James, it makes us feel so close to Hillel, without having met him.
red hot chili peppers are the shit. i've read scar tissue about 20 times and its really sad about what happened to hillel. he influenced the way i play guitar

maybe donate any profits to a local charity that helps young people with drug problems? this video shows clearly how devastating drug abuse can be...without mentioning it. it took your brother away- such a handsome and charismatic guy.

james i just thought i should tell you that i respect your brother with all of my heart for being a part of and helping start the band that changed my life... much love to all people who support bands like the chili peppers because every band that makes it big puts a dream into the brains of the youth who can later do the same for another... pCe to the world replace guns with guitars...
This is the first time i have seen Hillel speak, he seems like a funny warm genuine guy. Aswell as a brilliant guitarist, i wish he was still with us.
man. its a shame that drugs get in the way of alot of great guitarists. hillel's in a better place now...in rock heaven having the greatest jam session with hendrix. what a jam that would be
that wouldn't be a jam my friend... that would be a musical masterpiece with which our ears could not handle the raw awesomeness as our heads would explode from beautiful music
hillel...if you were still alive, i would be wearing your badass underwear. just want you to know that, the israeli cowboy who cant be stopped. ):

man. its a shame that drugs get in the way of alot of great guitarists. hillel's in a better place now...in rock heaven having the greatest jam session with hendrix. what a jam that would be
FenegadesOfRunk 3 years ago
that wouldn't be a jam my friend... that would be a musical masterpiece with which our ears could not handle the raw awesomeness as our heads would explode from beautiful music
