Io seguo il classico e da lontano pensavo che Petrucciani fosse stato un fenomeno innanzitutto tenendo presente il suo handicap. Niente di più sbagliato, capperi...

Ho cominciato ad ascoltarlo con attenzione e devo dire che era un mostro di bravura in assoluto, di gran lunga il più grande nel jazz e, per quanto si possano fare comparazioni, non indegno dei maggiori pianisti classici. Ha un senso del ritmo che è assolutamente trascendentale. Nel Cantabile di Stuttgard è semplicemente divino.

Merci, je ne savais pas qu'il était d'Orange. Il fut un génie de compéhension musicale spontanée. Eh ben, comme les autres disent avant moi, il était un génie, un monstre, un géant! Montre moi un Américain qui peut faire cela avec la musique européenne - cela n'existe pas. Un Art Tatum joue Art Tatum, mais il ne joue pas Hindemith, il ne joue pas Schönberg, il ne joue pas Schubert.

C'est intéressant, vraiment, car je sais Jarrett a joué du Bach, du Handel, et du Mozart, et il a fait un album hautement intéressant avec les 24 Préludes et Fugues de Shostakovich qui est une oeuvre de génie. Par ailleurs j'ai publié une revue de cette interprétation importante qui, à mon avis, ne peut être comparée qu'avec la rendition que Svjatoslav Richter a donné à ces pièces bien particulières. Qu'il a joué Brahms, j'ai ignoré ...

@ipublica si vous aimez Chostakovitch... Que pensez vous de sa première sonate pour piano? J'ai été le premier à en poster des extraits sur youtube! :) Sur Brahms, on m'a raconté que Jarrett avait enregistré un concerto, mais je ne l'ai pas entendu moi même! Mais comme il était question d'un grand passage en octaves, je vois mal ça chez Mozart ou Händel ;)

@godelike Honnêtement, je ne la connais point, mais je vais en écouter des échantillons sur iTunes. Je vais aussi voir de trouver vos extraits. Je connais bien les deux concertos de Brahms, interprétés très bien par Gilels et Richter, but je ne puis imaginer que Jarrett ait joué cette musique. Il y a là des incompatibilités, si vous me demandez, et sur le point du sentiment romantique et en ce qui concerne la technique. Jarrett a des mains assez petites et étrangement rigides.

Started classical at 4, stopped at 12 for jazz... played with family trio, father on guitar and brother Louis on Bass, bars and restaurants in southern France...

Went to USA at 18, met Charles, worked 4 years with him, made the Live in Copenhagen, with Bob McFein, author of "Dont worry be hay"...

I want to do music that's out of jazz, out of everything, mixing rock, brazilian, etc... mix Stewie Wonder, prince, etc... I come from Jazz but i'm getting out these days...

Wholly crap! This guy isn't good, he is un-freakin-believable!!!! This is the first I've seen of him and I have to say, I'm impressed! After seeing Emerson, Wakeman, & Lyle Mays I thought I'd seen it all. It just goes to show great musician's come in all shapes and sizes. He's no Brad Pitt, but he can play the living hell out of a keyboard. Amazing. He is a truly gifted jazz musician.
