  • can i use vaseline ?

  • @DoUdO1000 I don't think that would work but I've never tried it.

  • You can also use B.B cream

  • can you use a bath and body works scented body butter?

  • @mrstaylorlaunter831 I wouldn't since it's going to be used around your eyes but it's your own choice just be careful

  • Isn't this more of a tinted moisturizer? A primer like Mac's matte cream smoothes out imperfections by way of minimizing pores and giving you a more smooth and even base. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont see a foundation + moisturizer doing the same. All it does is thin out the foundation.

  • @zeniam166 this isn't to be comparable to Mac's matte cream because I've never tried it. if I used a lotion I could call it a tinted moisturizer, but the body butter thickens it up. Whether it seems like it will work or not, it does for some, and it doesn't for others. It all depends on the skin. If Mac's matte cream works for you as an eye primer, I would just stick with it then. have a nice day!

  • is there an alternative to the body butter?

  • Can you tell me plz if I can use a face cream instead? :)

  • gonna try this...

  • What song is this?????

  • @honeybun8890 i defenitley agree dont do that

  • cant you just use concealer or foundation instead wthout all that stuff? great vid tho:)

  • @jennifer5920 eh it works, but doesn't last all day. I've tried that and by the end of the day my make up was creasing, so it did kinda work but not all day, for me at least.

  • the body butter costs more than udpp!

  • @ChaziRockAngel yeah it does but you get more body butter than primer potion :)

  • @kimllovesbeauty gues so nice vid :)

  • can you use any type of lotion??

  • @sreynich1 I just did it haha. I used a random white lotion I found. xD Works perfectly :D

  • if you use a bit thicker body butter the result will be even better than urban decays primer!

  • what i use is a white eyeliner or black one if you want your eyeshadow to be a bitt bolder, spread around the eye area and then put your shadow over. This will work because eyeliner already has pigments that will stick to your skin and therefore will not harm your eyes in anyway~! hope this helps~!

  • @momomei106 hmm sounds like a good idea never heard of that before.

  • Dear, @GizmoBeauty , instead of using body butter, can you use moisturizer too?

  • @WeLoveDuckiies

yeah I think i would prefer to use moisteriser on my eyes than body butter, i suppose the texture would'nt be the same but you could put some face powder in there to thicken it up :) x

  • awww come on i'm new to all this make up thing and all i have is powder foundation.

Does that work? please respond! : /

  • @selenajackson5 Hi! Thanks for watching! The liquid foundation or concealer gives it a better consistancy. The powder foundation mainly just gives the body butter a tinted color. It may or may not work depending on your type of skin. I would recommend just mixing a very small amount and testing it to see if it will work for you.

  • @selenajackson5 you can scratch out some of the powder foundation and add a few drops of water to it.

  • can i use Vaseline ???

  • @JandyPham

Hi, I've never used Vaseline as far as mixing it into an eyeshadow primer. I use Vaseline near the eye area in the winter months on nights when my eyes get really dry almost chapped. I say try it, play around and see what works best for your skin. Just make sure not to get it in your eye and to stop use if any irritation occurs. Have a nice day!(:

  • I did this it works great....but after reading the highest rated comments I am not sure what to do....

  • @LoveMakeup1001 it is whatever you decide. I've done this for years and never had a problem. It is true that the products aren't MADE for the eyes but that doesn't mean you can't use it there. As long as you are careful not to get it in your actual eye I don't see the problem. Of course I wouldn't use it if you know you are going to be doing something that will make you sweat or something then it would have a chance of getting into your eye. People use foundation around eyes all the time.

  • @LoveMakeup1001 ...and I know tons of people that use body butter on their face. If you have any irritation you could always quit using it or switch to something else. Unscented would be the best. Also, you could always ask your doctor if you are still concerned. thanks for watching and I'm glad it worked for you!!(:

    -Gizmo Beauty

  • in reference to the body butters i use an all natural raw unscented shea butter and ive used it by itself on my face and my eye area with no type of irritation or damage i even use it as a nightly condtioner on my lashes so im sure if u use that instead of other heavily scented body butter you would be fine

  • plzzzzzzzzzzz tell me what the name of that song????

  • @kaseycac9 Ahslee Simpson Lala

  • plizz, tell me what is the name of the song and who is the singer?? :) pleaaaaaseee!!!!!!

  • I REALLY DOES WORK.

I TRIED IT OUT, MYSELF (:

  • nice video :P

  • @EvilEvieQueen thank you(:

  • You said you can use foundation? any certain color or can it be the one you use for your skin??

  • @TheSingerandLover it could be any color or brand you like, I use colors that are close to my skin tone. It could be your normal foundation or I now use a cheap $2 JANE foundation that I bought just for mixing. It doesn't have to be a high quality, anything would work.

  • can i use some lose powder foundation instead of liquid or creamy one ?

  • can you use daily skin creme instead of body butter?

  • @Quinneeshasexxccii1

I haven't tried that so I don't really know what to tell you. As long as it's kind of thick and doesn't iratate your skin it should be fine. Just be careful what you use around the eye area. thanks for watching!

  • @GizmoBeauty i tryed it and it totally works this helped me out so much now i dont have to spend so much money on other primers!

  • @foreverblush

    awesome =)

  • thank you so much i am totally going to try this out!

  • @foreverblush you are very welcome. I hope it works for you. =)

  • Okay, I just want to point out that there are probably 100+ videos that show you how to make home made eye primer here on youtube. So she could not be coping anyone. But she did probably did get the idea for someone here on youtube. Just saying.

  • @akalexa thank you, i actually got this idea from my aunt. she has been doing this for years. Yes they are several video similar to this and I'm not saying I was the first or the best this is just the way I make mine. Thanks for the comment, and for watching. =)

  • @GizmoBeauty omg im sorry that was my older sister lol

  • @bistycat

well I guess it's ok, but I didn't copy anyone. I never even heard of that person until the comment. I don't like being called a bitch.. don't start drama.. maybe you shouldn't let you sister on your account.

  • @GizmoBeauty first of all i didn't start the flippin drama. sorry my sister was being retarded

  • you copied DAHEEyum.... not cool

  • @OhMySweetCherryPie

    no I didn't!

  • @OhMySweetCherryPie

Everybody has their own way of making eye shaddow primer

  • @OhMySweetCherryPie EVERYONE uses this recipe.

  • WHAT IS THAT SONG BY ASHLEY SIMPSON AT THE BEGINING! i love it!

  • @gooiebear147 LALA

  • well i have tried with the concealer but does it matter what type or lotion you use as long as it's white? is there a lotion you'd prefer

  • @13brokendm

whenever I make it I use a body butter, some people don't think it should be used around the eye area but as long as youre careful not to get it in your eyes. I try to use unscented types but it just depends on how sensitive your skin is. I also sometimes use foundation instead on concealer, just depends on what I have around the house. Hope this helps, thanks for watching. =)

  • You should also probably not use body butter because most of them contain mineral oil. They use it as a cheap filler and it is said to cause skin cancer. Check your ingredients!

  • would body lotion work rather than body butter? please respond

  • @xoxoskatergurl

I have never tried making it with lotion or a moisturizer, the consistency of body butter is thinker than most lotions and moisturizers and it doesn't make my lids as oily. I'm sure it could work I'm just not sure how well. if you try it, please let me know. =)

    thanks for watching! =)

  • @GizmoBeauty have you tired it?

  • @NickyMicky3

    tried what?

  • @GizmoBeauty making the eye primer with a moisturizer instead of body butter?

  • @NickyMicky3

I honestly haven't because I've heard such negative feedback about it, but I really should try it. I just don't think it will last a long time.

  • @urbeautyurstyle

this has never dried up for me

  • instead of using body butter can u use body lotion or a moisturizer??? i dont have body butter

  • @ttwlight

I have never tried making it with lotion or a moisturizer, the consistency of body butter is thinker than most lotions and moisturizers and it doesn't make my lids as oily. I'm sure it could work I'm just not sure how well. if you try it, please let me know. =)

  • body butter on my eyes? I'll pass

  • @Goanna1993

I thought the same thing at first, but it has almost the exact same ingredients as drugstore and high end primers. so I think body butter is fine to use around the eye area as long as you are careful to to get it actually in your eye. I understand if you would prefer not to use the body butter and I'm sure there is another option. Thanks for watching!

  • @GizmoBeauty no no no it sounds totaly wrong! I put body butter on my LEGS where it doesnt dry so good, actually its moist and kinda sticky . i knw Urban Decay primer dries pretty fast. Let me think of what a sticky primer would do to my eye shadow and liner.... hm... smudging them?

  • @Goanna1993

    haha, thats your opinions.

this works for more people than just me, if you want to spend money on UDPP then go right ahead.

  • @Goanna1993 Not necessarily true. You see big Youtube makeup gurus using cream shadows or eye pencils as bases also. It doesn't matter if it's sticky or not, the smudging would be caused by greasiness.

  • My dogs name is Gizmo XD

  • @sugarlemon98

    aw that's cute =)

  • Hello, i just wanted to ask if you can use a moisturiser instead a body butter?

    Thank you =]

  • @LoIIipopStrawberry

I have never tried making it with lotion or a moisturizer, the consistency of body butter is thinker than most lotions and moisturizers and it doesn't make my lids as oily. I'm sure it could work I'm just not sure how well. if you try it, please let me know. =)

  • why do you have to add body butter? can you just use plain foundation?

  • Hey check out my tutorial :)

  • whoa this is pretty good. I thank you so much for this. ^^ I tested it by having a little bit of eyeshadow on my wrist with the primer and my other wrist without it and it was a big difference. This is an excellent way to save money. :D

  • @ThePoeticAngel

you are welcome, thank you for watching my video. I'm glad you like it! =)

  • can i use just plain body butter without the concealer ?

  • What about the main ingredient.......Dimethecone or some sort of silicone? Will this prevent creasing? Please say yes!

  • max factor pan stick is a great eyeshadow base if applied very thinly.....

  • @storiesandmore

I became aware that Max Factor tests their products on animals, even though I did enjoy using their products, I can no longer support this company because I believe animal testing is wrong.

thank you for watching my video and for your comment, have a nice day! =)

  • @GizmoBeauty L'Oreal also tests on animals. As Youtube comments don't support URL's, I'll PM you a link to a list of companies that test on animals.

I've recently started using Hard Candy (cheap from Wal Mart). They don't test on animals, and their products are great.

  • @saveoursandwich

thank you! this was an old video, I don't own anymore L'Oreal products. I used up the last of it while making this primer. I've tried Hard Candy's Face Primer and it's my favorite for the face. thanks for watching! =)

  • @HunnyBun8890 but can we use body moisturizer?

  • @TuyetNhiViet

That would be the same thing as body butter and lotion.

  • can i use face moisturizer instead of body butter ??????????????

  • @MisPurpleButterfly

Yes. That would be the better option.

  • @MisPurpleButterfly

I have never tried making it with lotion or a moisturizer, the consistency of body butter is thinker than most lotions and moisturizers and it doesn't make my lids as oily. I'm sure it could work I'm just not sure how well. if you try it, please let me know. =)

  • I dont have body butter, can i use moisturizer??????

  • where do you edit your videos???

  • Omg This is great i love it and it work well thanks Hun

  • @dopetriice

you're welcome! I'm so glad you like it! =)

  • ..what if i don't have body butter?? what alternative can i use?? and is it possible to do this if i'm using concealer on stick and a pressed foundation?? thank you ^^

  • @bluelover193 instead of body butter you can use any body moisterizer

  • i have the body butter and stuff but i dont have any concealer what should i put in then?????

  • I just use whatever I have handy at the time for face creams. Normally it's just like Lancome or somtimes Clinique...is that okaey to use on like my face w/ whatever concealer/foundation I'm using at the time?

  • Love this Vid! Check out my channel sometime! I subbed...can you SUB back? Thanks gorgeous! xoxoxo

  • lol...i have the same comforter! anyway...ty for the tip bc i definitely don't have enough in my makeup budget to buy everything i need incl. a primer.....thx again!

  • @Tariksmom

lol nice! im glad you like it, thanks for watching! =)

  • whats body butter.. like any cream for ur body?? like st ives?

  • It's like a thick lotion.

  • Please, if you insist on using "body butter" use an organic one. The perfumes, dyes, chemicals, etc. in regular ones may damage your eye area. Most body butters & lotions aren't sweat proof & may drip into your eyes. It's best to use an eye cream, since those are MADE for the eye area.

  • can u use a shimmery base instead of foundation cuz i dont have foundation but i have a shimmery base

  • short & sweet & to the point - gonna try this...

  • i think it's better for your eyes to use an eye cream instead of body butter because body butter usually has a lot of perfume in it

  • well I'm sure it would be better but this is just how I make mine and it works great for me. If someone is more sensitive that would be another great option. Thank you for your comment.

  • @RosesAndIvy you can try a body butter that is fragrance free if it is cheaper than the eye cream.

  • I agree 100%!!! It also has more harsh chemicals than eye cream & the dyes used in them are very bad for your eyes.

  • @RosesAndIvy

i agree, but there is unscented body butter available. I've never had a problem with body butter around the eye area, but the ingredients are the same in drug store and high end primers.

    thanks for your comment =)

  • can't you just use tinted moisturizer? or will it now work as well?

  • oh, and what can you use mineral foundation?

  • coz body butter is more like thick so it stays longer if u use tinted mosterizer theres no point coz its really thin texture so it will just glide into your skin basically foundation kinda thingg

  • @heartz987

    exactly =)

  • like it. very simple

  • instead of using my liquid foundations can i use my stick foundations and just crush it up and add it to the mix?

  • I've never used a stick foundation so I wouldn't know what to say. I would think so but I'm not sure.

  • no worries i tried last night and it worked well just had to put some elbow grease into it LOL! thanks so much

  • lol I'm glad it worked out for you

  • who made ur intro , LUV IT!!

  • i did. thanks. The eyeshadows at the begining ARE NOT ME OR MY WORK, but just a collections of pic from flickr. I plan on updating my intro soon with pics of me and my work.

  • Can you use petrolium jelly? (Sorry if it is mispelled)

  • no hun you can't, it will actually make your eyeshadow come off!! I use it as a make-up remover. Ff you dont have any body butter any white moisturizing cream will do just make sure it has a creamy consistency. This works for me i hope it works for you too.

  • Can i use nivea moisturizing cream or cocoa butter lottion instead of carrot butter cream?

  • Someone said that lotion doesn't work as well as the body butter... I'm sure any body butter will work the same. I've just only used this kind.

  • I used just regular lotion to make my primer because I do not have body butter. It wasn't the best choice and doesn't work hardly at all. It made the end result way to thin. if you do use just a lotion I would recommend doing a thicker kind like Aquafor

  • no its too thin, u need something thick like body butter

  • can moisturizer be mixed instead of body butter

  • THANK U SO MUCH :)

  • hey; can i use lotion instead of body butter?

  • Never tried but I don't see why not ;)

  • Great video, thanks for sharing! Very useful stuff to know :)

  • does the body butter every go into your eyes and sting? n should it be lik unscented?

  • no I'm just careful to keep it on my eyelid and out of my eyes but unless you actually put it in your eyes it wont like come off your lid into your eyes

and I don't think it matters if its unscented or not, I think its just what you perfer.

  • There's a type of lotion out there called "Cetaphil", you can find it at Walmart and the ingredients are light enough to go on anything and for anyone! your face, your body, whatever! It is also unscented! I use their facewash and their lotion everyday and i am in love with it! So use that instead of *body* butter since the skin around your eyes are very sensitive and delicate and are not meant for body butter or any type of body lotion.

  • PiNEAPPiE, I'm glad someone else on here has some sense. :-/

  • @Dami424

you can buy it unscented, but i've worked out and sweated with wearing this and it has never been a problem for me. It has never went in my eyes, if you have sensitive eyes the unscented would probably be a better option. thanks for watching!

  • I did this but with Aveeno lotion (I have super sensitive skin) and mineral finishing powder, since the powder is so fine it mixes very well.

  • cool ! yeah I know several of my friends are the same way, I'm going to recommend this to them, thanks

  • yw =]

  • can i substitute anything else, instead of the body butter?

  • i hear some lotions work just as good, just play around and see what works for you =)

  • does it prevent creasing or does it only make the colors stand out more??

  • It makes the colors stand out more and prevents creasing somewhat. I've recently found out that it creases when you are in hot temperatures for a long period of time. Like going out at the beach during the summer, or whatever. But for going out with an average temps, it does the job very well.

  • Thank you for this!

  • wat song is this?

  • Sorry, been gone for a week... the song is called LaLa by Ashlee Simpson :)

  • erm.. does it matter whether the body butters coloured. cos the only one i got is redish/pink? Also same thoughts £20 for something invisble?? XD

  • I'm not sure, never tried any color but white... I wouldn't think it would matter much, the primer might come out a slightly different color but it should still do the job :)

  • The red dye usually used in cosmetics are typically not safe for the eye area. I do not recommend you use red, pink, or purple lotion or body butter. I also do not recommend using lotion or body butter anyway as they are not made for the eye area & could damage your eyeballs and/or eye area. Please use an eye cream instead.

  • What is the name of the song that's playing in the back ground?

  • there is a different song for my intro... do you mean that or the one on the video?

  • cool! I'm gonna try this soon. BTW I LOVE ur intro!!

  • Good start off video =]

  • Wonderful!

  • it looks cool i have a secert primeer! =] you'll never guesss wat it is =]

  • what is it

  • but does it hold up against creasing and color fade?

  • For me it does... and I hope it works just as good for the other people who try it.

Anyone who tries this should be sure to let me know how it works for them. I'd love to hear from you all.

  • I tried it & it works just as good as the too face shadow insurance I have! thanx again!

  • Im so glad you like it as much as I do :)

  • So it works well? Great video I will have to try

  • thank you i am going to do it
