i use sheer lipgloss to my eyelids and crease, then take a brush with shadow on it and instead of smearing the shadow on ,,i dab the shadow on my eyes..it stays on all day and has a shimmery, sheer soft look to it all day...
Isn't this more of a tinted moisturizer? A primer like Mac's matte cream smoothes out imperfections by way of minimizing pores and giving you a more smooth and even base. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont see a foundation + moisturizer doing the same. All it does is thin out the foundation.
@zeniam166 this isn't to be comparable to Mac's matte cream because I've never tried it. if I used a lotion I could call it a tinted moisturizer, but the body butter thickens it up. Whether it seems like it will work or not, it does for some, and it doesn't for others. It all depends on the skin. If Mac's matte cream works for you as an eye primer, I would just stick with it then. have a nice day!
@jennifer5920 eh it works, but doesn't last all day. I've tried that and by the end of the day my make up was creasing, so it did kinda work but not all day, for me at least.
what i use is a white eyeliner or black one if you want your eyeshadow to be a bitt bolder, spread around the eye area and then put your shadow over. This will work because eyeliner already has pigments that will stick to your skin and therefore will not harm your eyes in anyway~! hope this helps~!
yeah I think i would prefer to use moisteriser on my eyes than body butter, i suppose the texture would'nt be the same but you could put some face powder in there to thicken it up :) x
@selenajackson5 Hi! Thanks for watching! The liquid foundation or concealer gives it a better consistancy. The powder foundation mainly just gives the body butter a tinted color. It may or may not work depending on your type of skin. I would recommend just mixing a very small amount and testing it to see if it will work for you.
Hi, I've never used Vaseline as far as mixing it into an eyeshadow primer. I use Vaseline near the eye area in the winter months on nights when my eyes get really dry almost chapped. I say try it, play around and see what works best for your skin. Just make sure not to get it in your eye and to stop use if any irritation occurs. Have a nice day!(:
@LoveMakeup1001 it is whatever you decide. I've done this for years and never had a problem. It is true that the products aren't MADE for the eyes but that doesn't mean you can't use it there. As long as you are careful not to get it in your actual eye I don't see the problem. Of course I wouldn't use it if you know you are going to be doing something that will make you sweat or something then it would have a chance of getting into your eye. People use foundation around eyes all the time.
@LoveMakeup1001 ...and I know tons of people that use body butter on their face. If you have any irritation you could always quit using it or switch to something else. Unscented would be the best. Also, you could always ask your doctor if you are still concerned. thanks for watching and I'm glad it worked for you!!(:
in reference to the body butters i use an all natural raw unscented shea butter and ive used it by itself on my face and my eye area with no type of irritation or damage i even use it as a nightly condtioner on my lashes so im sure if u use that instead of other heavily scented body butter you would be fine
@TheSingerandLover it could be any color or brand you like, I use colors that are close to my skin tone. It could be your normal foundation or I now use a cheap $2 JANE foundation that I bought just for mixing. It doesn't have to be a high quality, anything would work.
I haven't tried that so I don't really know what to tell you. As long as it's kind of thick and doesn't iratate your skin it should be fine. Just be careful what you use around the eye area. thanks for watching!
Okay, I just want to point out that there are probably 100+ videos that show you how to make home made eye primer here on youtube. So she could not be coping anyone. But she did probably did get the idea for someone here on youtube. Just saying.
@akalexa thank you, i actually got this idea from my aunt. she has been doing this for years. Yes they are several video similar to this and I'm not saying I was the first or the best this is just the way I make mine. Thanks for the comment, and for watching. =)

I have never tried making it with lotion or a moisturizer, the consistency of body butter is thinker than most lotions and moisturizers and it doesn't make my lids as oily. I'm sure it could work I'm just not sure how well. if you try it, please let me know. =)

i did. thanks. The eyeshadows at the begining ARE NOT ME OR MY WORK, but just a collections of pic from flickr. I plan on updating my intro soon with pics of me and my work.
no hun you can't, it will actually make your eyeshadow come off!! I use it as a make-up remover. Ff you dont have any body butter any white moisturizing cream will do just make sure it has a creamy consistency. This works for me i hope it works for you too.
I used just regular lotion to make my primer because I do not have body butter. It wasn't the best choice and doesn't work hardly at all. It made the end result way to thin. if you do use just a lotion I would recommend doing a thicker kind like Aquafor
no I'm just careful to keep it on my eyelid and out of my eyes but unless you actually put it in your eyes it wont like come off your lid into your eyes
and I don't think it matters if its unscented or not, I think its just what you perfer.
There's a type of lotion out there called "Cetaphil", you can find it at Walmart and the ingredients are light enough to go on anything and for anyone! your face, your body, whatever! It is also unscented! I use their facewash and their lotion everyday and i am in love with it! So use that instead of *body* butter since the skin around your eyes are very sensitive and delicate and are not meant for body butter or any type of body lotion.
you can buy it unscented, but i've worked out and sweated with wearing this and it has never been a problem for me. It has never went in my eyes, if you have sensitive eyes the unscented would probably be a better option. thanks for watching!
It makes the colors stand out more and prevents creasing somewhat. I've recently found out that it creases when you are in hot temperatures for a long period of time. Like going out at the beach during the summer, or whatever. But for going out with an average temps, it does the job very well.
I'm not sure, never tried any color but white... I wouldn't think it would matter much, the primer might come out a slightly different color but it should still do the job :)
The red dye usually used in cosmetics are typically not safe for the eye area. I do not recommend you use red, pink, or purple lotion or body butter. I also do not recommend using lotion or body butter anyway as they are not made for the eye area & could damage your eyeballs and/or eye area. Please use an eye cream instead.

I've never used a stick foundation so I wouldn't know what to say. I would think so but I'm not sure.

i did. thanks. The eyeshadows at the begining ARE NOT ME OR MY WORK, but just a collections of pic from flickr. I plan on updating my intro soon with pics of me and my work.

Can you use petrolium jelly? (Sorry if it is mispelled)
bunygurl 2 years ago
no hun you can't, it will actually make your eyeshadow come off!! I use it as a make-up remover. Ff you dont have any body butter any white moisturizing cream will do just make sure it has a creamy consistency. This works for me i hope it works for you too.

Can i use nivea moisturizing cream or cocoa butter lottion instead of carrot butter cream?
rtloveful 2 years ago
Someone said that lotion doesn't work as well as the body butter... I'm sure any body butter will work the same. I've just only used this kind.
GizmoBeauty 2 years ago
I used just regular lotion to make my primer because I do not have body butter. It wasn't the best choice and doesn't work hardly at all. It made the end result way to thin. if you do use just a lotion I would recommend doing a thicker kind like Aquafor
SoNahEgalWieWeit 2 years ago
no its too thin, u need something thick like body butter

does the body butter every go into your eyes and sting? n should it be lik unscented?
Dami424 2 years ago
no I'm just careful to keep it on my eyelid and out of my eyes but unless you actually put it in your eyes it wont like come off your lid into your eyes
and I don't think it matters if its unscented or not, I think its just what you perfer.
GizmoBeauty 2 years ago
There's a type of lotion out there called "Cetaphil", you can find it at Walmart and the ingredients are light enough to go on anything and for anyone! your face, your body, whatever! It is also unscented! I use their facewash and their lotion everyday and i am in love with it! So use that instead of *body* butter since the skin around your eyes are very sensitive and delicate and are not meant for body butter or any type of body lotion.

PiNEAPPiE, I'm glad someone else on here has some sense. :-/

@Dami424
you can buy it unscented, but i've worked out and sweated with wearing this and it has never been a problem for me. It has never went in my eyes, if you have sensitive eyes the unscented would probably be a better option. thanks for watching!

I did this but with Aveeno lotion (I have super sensitive skin) and mineral finishing powder, since the powder is so fine it mixes very well.

cool ! yeah I know several of my friends are the same way, I'm going to recommend this to them, thanks

does it prevent creasing or does it only make the colors stand out more??
ThirdEyeAbility 2 years ago
It makes the colors stand out more and prevents creasing somewhat. I've recently found out that it creases when you are in hot temperatures for a long period of time. Like going out at the beach during the summer, or whatever. But for going out with an average temps, it does the job very well.

wat song is this?
hollisterlover0522 2 years ago
Sorry, been gone for a week... the song is called LaLa by Ashlee Simpson :)
GizmoBeauty 2 years ago
erm.. does it matter whether the body butters coloured. cos the only one i got is redish/pink? Also same thoughts £20 for something invisble?? XD
hatsumomosilverlance 2 years ago
I'm not sure, never tried any color but white... I wouldn't think it would matter much, the primer might come out a slightly different color but it should still do the job :)
GizmoBeauty 2 years ago
The red dye usually used in cosmetics are typically not safe for the eye area. I do not recommend you use red, pink, or purple lotion or body butter. I also do not recommend using lotion or body butter anyway as they are not made for the eye area & could damage your eyeballs and/or eye area. Please use an eye cream instead.
