You would love to hear this in French? That's stupid. This is a traditional American folk song. Putting it in French would ruin it. Plus, it wouldn't translate quite the same.

French is a beautiful language and it would be interesting to hear an American folk song sung in another tongue. Silent Night was first sung in German and it sounds and translates very well into English. So why do you say it is a 'stupid' idea? Do you speak French?

@chairde You can easly come back on me for saying your comment is now 3 years old. But most songs can't be translated very easly, and most of them would lose their essence. Songs are poems, and poems are the hardest to translate from language to language. If your group, Silent Night, could do it, that's just fine. But if you ever studied poems and languages, you'd know "Stupid" is a slang term of "not a good idea" in this situation., for the sake of the song.

@Wakssbm The word "stupid" is not and never has been a slang word. It is an insult. It is also an insult in Spanish when used as "stupido". I know that there are rude people here on Youtube but I am 65 years old and the people of my generation were taught not to insult others. It seems that rudeness is quite common here on Youtube, why I do not know. Perhaps it makes one feel superior.
