  • This is great! Have you heard this faster-performed version of Madeleine by English artist, Derek Lovell (username: deklovell)? I personally think it's the best cover Derek has done, well worth a listen.

  • Thanks so much for adding my video response of 'Madeleine' - wonderful to see Jonathan perform it again after three decades of not hearing anything of him! Lots of happy memories of singing this song with my mum in the '70s.

  • Wonderful to hear Jonathan singing this after so many years. Nothing "BAD" about it; he's a great singer/songwriter who mesmerised many in the good old days.

  • This man is talented.... but he makes BAD music

  • Great to see and hear Jonathan on a very rare performance since he retired from the business. Brings back memories of his gigs at Sheffield Uni in the early seventies.

  • I'm named after this song :)

  • awe so plesed to find this on here

twice around the houses is one of ma favourite all time albums

never knew he was back out playing again excellent

  • sti;l got the magic Last seen with JK's outside band welcome back

  • I last heard this when I was about 14 in the early 70s - still love it :-)

  • Great to see Jon again.( All those years ago in Dublin.) Your voice is as beautiful as ever!

Jon is unique in every way....and a thorough gentleman.. Thank you for all the joy you gave us in Liberty Hall in Dublin and enjoying you again now too. All best wishes to you and family.

  • Wonderful to hear this after many years, and great to see Jonathan performing again. Thanks for posting...I've ordered his first two albums on CD from Amazon for a tenner today. Now that's a bargain!! :)

  • I had the honour to be in a band on the same bill as JK at the Bay Horse folk club in Bentley, S. Yorks - must have been '71 or '72. A great night - great times.

  • I saw JK back in the 70's and I think he was supporting the Straws. On the strength of that we bought his album twice around the houses and played it to death. I have just ordered it from the internet this week!!! on CD yee ha can't wait to hear it again

  • Please, can anyone put up Sligo Fair? I remember listening to it in bed on the John Peel show waaaay back lol :)

  • @bluensunshine why don't you do him a favour and buy the CD?

  • One of JK's best tunes but hell they were nearly all brilliant.

  • My children all know the words of this song by heart, no doubt it will be appreciated by multitudes 'forever'.

  • Just like maiem54 I first saw JK on The Old Grey Whistle Test,I remember him being a very happy young man with loads of talent.I too still play the LP 'Twice Around The Houses' Thanks Kellyfan222 its great to see him again!

  • I used to hear Jonathan on radio in 1972/3 and enjoyed his stuff and looked on YouTube just to see if he was on and found this diamond! Good stuff.

  • I first say JK on the Old Grey Whistle Test back in the 70's, I still play my LP of his even now. I have been trying to find what happened to JK for years, at last I am hear to him singing again. Great songs then, and still great. Glad to see him singing again. Don't care if his voice is not as it was, what do people expect, still brilliant words, and great songs.

  • I've been listening to JK's music since the early 70's, He's still a writer of beautiful songs. thanks for posting, more need to see and hear him

  • Welcome back JK. An inspiration to us all.

  • fantastic, JK, Lancaster UNI,70s, memories, fantastic.

  • This is great stuff dude! thanks for posting.

  • Yeah, JK was good but my guess he made it all go wrong , when you listen to the last album or two. If you were given a one off chance in life to make some albums , with great musicans , are these what you would commit to posterity. However I love the good stuff and remember him fondly.

  • Can't believe I found a video of JK - could not agree more with last comment, huge singer-songwriter, very talented, and it was a huge tragedy he never made it big, his work is up there with John Martyn, Steely Dan - Went to see him in my student days, tight cheesecloth shirts, jeans rolled up to knees, high boots, and patchouli oil, JK's lyrics in my head - want a find on You Tube and thanks for putting it up - will tell all my friends

  • Thanks to U TUBE JK he is finlly being recognised for what he is, which is a writer of beautiful songs. His work has been criminally neglected over many years but he remains one the most talented singer-songwriters in the history of popular music and the greatest tragedy of all perhaps is that this belated recognition of his work has to be seen as too little, too late, for somebone of his immense artistic talent. Eric Clapton, Snowy White and Gary Moore are testament to this.

  • I assume your references are to people who played on his records or backing band (Clapton on first 1969 LP and Snowy White on record and in touring band 1975), though if so I was unaware that Gary Moore had done so!
