you guys act like you're some goodie two shoes so virginal and pure with your "oh my gods" and "oh dears" listen you are driving in a third world nation road - get friggin used to it - and your filipino friend there should have known and warned you about it - so get over the " i never" shock, LIKE, OK? valley boys? or get out. if and when i come back there i would expect such and be smart enough not to DRIVE! get over it!
The bus that cut the driver at 1:02 I get that all the time when driving in Manila. It's just a test of nerve between you and the bus driver. If you win, the bus won't be able to cut you off and you'll be in the front. If you lose the bus will crash into your side and traffic jam will follow.
@archellemae I've lived my life in the Philippines almost all my life.My dad was the mayor of our town for 4 years before he became an Assemblyman.I should be able to say life was good coz we were top of the food chain but I can't.I saw before my eyes ppl living around us had it hard.It may seem nice from a vacationers pov but they should living day to day there is different story if you are just another joe on the street.Look at @mygod909 comment 3 months ago- he was warned of being kidnapped.
@mrgrld I lived in the Philippines all my life too. I'm not top of the food chain. Actually you can consider me below the average. I have my own problems and what not. You can't see me being bitter about living in the Philippines. Prolly because as you said you're on top of the food chain you have more time and chances to emo about the negative sides of everything and me living my hard life is more focused on being optimistic so I see the good sides. It's just yin/yang.
You say Taxi driver is going 100mph? Maybe 100kph but not 100mph. It is impossible to do that on the streets in manila unless it was after 11pm when the streets are clear. Vacationing in the Philippines is great only if you have someone to watch over you. If you go there as a foreigner you better be ready to get scammed or robbed! Living day to day life in the P.I. is not as nice as it seems to you.
not bad, try driving the hilly and steep slope streets of baguio city during traffic hours and with a manual trans car, uphill stops are quite challenging...manila is easier..
naaaah you dont need a jedi to drive in manila, actually all the clips in your video is not so bad and almost every day i drive these streets on my way to work and we use KPH in manila not MPH ... try driving in india you will get a heart attack because they are dumb and un attentive drivers....
It's not Madness. It's normal. The safest city to drive. You have drivers that are 100% attentive. Somewhere sometime, another driver can make a mistake and you have to be able to 'accomodate' or adjust to such mistakes to avoid collision.
@Rcee01 maximum cash they will ripped would be 1,000 pesos. almost like $22. not bad for someone earning dollars...hahhahaha.. Anyways, i miss philippines too! I was there 3 weeks ago..i cant forget the flood experienced when i was walking along monumento..hahhhahh
yeah i heard the taxi drivers would rip you off anytime if you don't know anything about manila, luckly me, my family there had there own driver guy, i was like wth a driverguy? ahahah, but yeah i miss the surroundings of philippines, the poverty, the little kids asking for money..the taho guy in the morning, how you can just hop in a jeep and bus, the motorcycle back seat is the best.
@Rcee01 Its very awkward to hear everyone adressing you as "sir"everywhere from the aiport, hotel, mall, etc..But i totally miss the streetfoods and those decent girls i met who were introduced to me by my cousins...hahhahah. I miss redhorse and San Miguels too!
same i agree with you, everywhere i go , was refered to as "sir" and i kept telling them back that im not a sir lol, but it kept happening so i just stop. YES the street food, the sour mango and fishballs man
@mygod909 I really wanted to get to join the locals and jump into one of those jeepneys, but our driver told me not to for some reason. I really don't mind taking risks and getting to experience a culture directly, but I guess he was concerned about me getting kidnapped or something.
@MeisterASV If you are caucasian roaming around the streets of Manila, or same with many filipinos grew up in the states and has the american tongue: you are advice not really to go out without a trusted someone that guides you from the locals. Caucasian ladies as well should pay extra more carefull. some guys overthere has seen blondes only in porn movies, better not go out alone..
@1martinjom LOL.. My husband is also Filipino like me but grew up here in US, so everytime we go out to buy something I always ask him not to say anything and just let me do all the talking... But I doubt about the blondes being "rape" or something since most of the time they find them intimidating but I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I haven't heard one yet.
@21sinderella I'm glad i never heard anything like that happened..But i'm a filipino who moved to the states for so long, i am still a local (even i am already US ctizen everytime) i visit there,i am still very fluent with the local dialect and i can tell what local guys thinks whenever they see wonderfull precious blondes that they only see on tv..I seldomly hear some stories about some caucasian ladies got victimized by some robbers, i am very glad that was it, nothing worst...
@MeisterASV its unlikely that you will getting kidnapped.... holdapped yes but its not because you're white or different race but because it could happen to anyone...... everytime i ride a jeepney or a bus you just have to look if there are any suspicious people around you.... manila is not that dangerous.... people might actually be kind to you and we will smile if we see different race taking a jeepney.... if they look suspicious then simply get out of the jeepney......
@MeisterASV you should have, i don't know why the driver told you not to, i lived in Quezon City, Manila for a few months, I used Taxi's & Jeepneys and never once felt in any danger, I didn't try the tricycles because the traffic was a lot busier than what you see in your video and I didn't feel safe crammed into the middle of it on a tricycle, you would have enjoyed the jeepney, great fun and filipinos are great people, very polite
welcome to crazy ass country biatches lol. like they say thrilla in manila

Driving in Manila is more chaotic than the US, but less than Naples, Italy.....much more aggressive in Naples, same congestion.

drivers in philippines are superb, they can adjust easily. it's chaotic but not too much accident.
