You're forgetting a particular crew that was around during the fall of So Solid. Pay As You Go Kartel. They were the ones that played the evolved darker UK Garage tracks which we either call Sublow or Dark Garage. I won't start on how the Drum & Bass scene influenced UK Garage lol.

So Solid definitely did make harder forms of UK Garage tracks like Woah, Why, Haters etc etc but not what I would call Grimey Garage. So Solid definitely smashed it and the whole of London was on a Garage thing and made the crew element popular as well. The only track I would class as a stepping stone to Grime was Rap Dis by Oxide and Neutrino. That choon was definitely Sublow/Dark Garage. One heavy riddim.
