  • Yeah, this version is far superior to the one with drums on it. Not that the other one is bad, but this version lets the guitars and bass deliver the tension, and MAN! does it hit home!

  • "The Way I Feel" album has a much inferior version of this song on it. This version is from the first album.

  • Sweet melancholy, wonderful song

  • SWEET!

    Thanks

  • I know that the stated on Canadian Idol the it was the title track from his second album Shane Weibe sang it and did a great job. Check it out as it's on here too.

    Beautiful song!!!

  • The version with drums is okay in my opinion, but there's an quiet intensity to this one that is just outta sight, especially the instrumental break.

  • One of his best songs!

  • BlackHoleBrew is definitely right. The first version, which matches this album cover has a steady, droning vibe to it with lead elements near the end of the song that will later re appear as guitar lead hooks on TWOTEFG.

  • it is the first

  • I remember hearing this for the first time back in the early 60's when I was just learning what you could do with a guitar, a pen and some paper. This was inspirational. The electric version is good too. A good song can survive and thrive in the hands of many artists. It's a testament to the quality of the writing and the best stuff always brings you back to the original like Dylan or Tom Waits. Thanks Scout4Me

  • i love this version so much more than the electrified version that is the title song on a later lp.....tysm for posting this

  • I think this song is actually from "The Way I Feel" which is his second album. It also has "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" and "Song for a Winter's Night" and came out about 1967.

  • @BlackHoleBrew42

No, this is his first album, I`m pretty sure.

  • @Scout4Me1 BlackHoleBrew is right; "The Way I Feel" is his 2nd album. The picture is of his 1st album entitled "Lightfoot!" Thanks for posting the song though.

  • @darshloaf "The Way I Feel" was also the third track on his debut album as well as being on his second. That was common in the 60s to have a song show up twice on different albums. Simon & Garfunkel did that with "The Sound of Silence".

  • @BlackHoleBrew42 It's on both.

  • @BlackHoleBrew42 His first album, the one pictured above, has this song on it. My dad bought it when I was a kid in the 60s; it got played constantly. I bought the LP myself later on, and played it constantly... Btw, he gave my Mom's friend guitar lessons in Lindsay, Ontario, before he hit the big time!

  • @BlackHoleBrew42 I had this first album for years. Left it behind somewhere on my travels. This song is on it, for sure.

  • oh, I can see why- thanks again ( I love music that has a good message, and of course speaks of the wonder of nature that God created for his children to enjoy and learn from...speaking of nature, I'm gonna send you something special about the eagle soon... :)
