at 2:34-2:40 or so it sounds like the altos are completely gone.. i wanted to listen just to hear that part b/c its stuck in my head and i just can't hear the part.. at all
Its my old high school's top choir, Homewood-Flossmoor. I graduated '08. This was recorded on just a regular digital camera so the audio isn't that great. We sounded much better in person.
I was lucky enough to sing the the choir Mullholland commissioned that work for. We also were given the honor of premiering is back in 94. Carol Ramsey made music way beyond her worldly presence. Good job BTW
I heard some wide vowels and there OO's should be a little more rounded...the overall performance is great...to tell you the truth this is the most moving song I have ever heard...it makes you picture a peaceful still water flowing on a river while you're sitting by an oak tree with green grass...my choir is planning on singing this song for MPA this year...I pray that we be phenominal.. God Bless
We sang this again at the end of the year (this being the first concert) and it was the last concert of my senior year so most of us were crying after we finished, this is my all time favorite song.
That's cool..my teacher said she sang this with her college choir her first year, she let us listen to it and it was very beautiful, so I just had to find it on youtube...:) I can't wait to sing this song at MPA though.
good try. more musicality would have been nice. starting softer then growing in the parts that lead to the climax of the song. and also i heard a lot of spread vowels. is this a highschool or college choir? but this song is beautiful. we sang it my highschool year and got to work with the composer! Dr. James Quitman Mulholland. it was awesome!
is that in the beginning of measure 40, a high Ab should be hit by only one soprano 1, if that isn't the case, and it did go sharp *(into a natural A)* which isn't too good, but it happens, but try to prevent that, and yes, TALL VOWELS make the performance... so practice that, and it sounds pretty good for the fact that it's on a dig. cam. but that is a very beautiful song, and i believe that everone did very well, and i look forward to seeing and hearing another performance :)
This song would have sounded alot better if the whole choir had tone and tall vowels. Also connect your phrases instead of cutting them off. Other than that this performance was ok. :/
Part of that is the quality of the sound. This was recorded on a digital camera with a video option, not a video camera, which is why the picture quality is poor as well.
You may not think so, but I think that should be considered.
I enjoyed playing horn on this piece!!!

Not very good, the dynamics are not expressed as they should it is forte in some parts when it should be piano and it has no life.
