That's a smallmouth buffalo, not a carp. It is a native fish in the US and is in the sucker family whereas carp are in the minnow family. Totally different species.
Buffalo do not mess up the water and are not 'trash' fish. Please try to outgrow that attitude.
Common carp also are, in most places, normalized to the ecosystem and are not particularly damaging to the fisheries.

for one its a common carp pal not a mirror just letting you know commons are fully scaled and mirrors have only like a few scales on then n they are normally all hine a rough straight line but you reall do need to know how to handle a fish and how to land it
1. Never grab a fish by its gills on the side.Grab him in the middle from both sides.
2. Have a net. Use it when necessarily.
3. Have a unhooker prepared. You do not want to twirl around the hook and make him bleed.
4. Instead of reeling him so fast, slow down a bit and make the fish exhausted.
5. If you followed step 4, you have a big chance the fish won't flail around in your hands decreasing the chance of the fish smacking it's head on the concrete.

I'm sorry, this is not how you treat a carp, or any other fish for that matter. You need to play the fish properly, try using the clutch on the reel or put backwind on. You need a landing net, this way you won't drop it onto the concrete when you carry it - you can actually see where you've damaged the fish by dropping it (if you pause the video at 2:52). And invest in some proper scales, that way you aren't hanging it by its mouth.

@ATHKrew Carp are dangerouse to the native fish species, espesialy asian carp who do terrible damage to the commercial fishing by eating plantlife and decreasing the oxygen levels in the water. In the US carp are invasive species that are taking over our lakes, pounds, and rivers. To me they are trash fish because they endanger the livelyhood of the sport fish I seek to catch.

You dont ave to spendmoney to buy special equipment you can use loads of stuff to make an unhooking mat and you could stick your scales onto it to weigh the fish.
Be a leader and educate yourslf in the treatment of carp and help others.

@carpfisherman1000 Firstly, learn how to spell. Second, your are able to hold a fish by the gills, it doesnt hurt it. Ever heard of pike or salmon fishing? Yeah, thats the only way you can hold them. And lastly, its fine to pick them up by the mouth to weigh them. it does nothing that picking them up with your hands or hooking them doesnt do. Learn what your doing before you give advice.

I'm sorry, this is not how you treat a carp, or any other fish for that matter. You need to play the fish properly, try using the clutch on the reel or put backwind on. You need a landing net, this way you won't drop it onto the concrete when you carry it - you can actually see where you've damaged the fish by dropping it (if you pause the video at 2:52). And invest in some proper scales, that way you aren't hanging it by its mouth.

@JustinFishingSE that set up actualy is not my main set up now but it was a shimano rx 5000 reel atleast i think its RX and the rod is shit its a berkely cherry wood from walmart and its 6 inches short cuz it broke on a 5 lb bowfin:HERE is the setup i personaly reomend i use a abugarcia black max reel and an abugarcia vandetta rod at 7foot med/hev with 14lb florocarbon NOT mono AND dont forget to SUBSCRIBE
