I love the bass on my friend of misery and this version, but apart from that Jason never really did any thing worth remembering. He was only ever ment to replace Cliff's Presence in the band and not be a major player in the band like Cliff was.

Yeah! Cliff had major contributions like Orion or For Whom..Tolls. Moreover, he was well-versed in theory. Jason , I believe used to mirror Hetfield's rhythm. He was side-lined, I feel sometimes.

Exactly, Jason was more of a root note bassist, which soudns crap and requires no skill. Cliff was classically trained and as well as playing root notes, did his own thing as well, making the bass guitar more than just a support instrument.

The pick gives you a clangy metallic sound , something which a six-string can also give. The fingers have a different effect though ( my opinion, though)

Wrong, you should know his bio better! When he started to play bass, he got no amp, couldnt afford to buy, so he used his own technique, so bass could sound loud and better with pick, so he got used to it. If you know shit, dont act smart
