My dermatologist said I needed to wait a year before she would prescribe it to me again. So Idk what Im going to do.

The isolation thing is a product of a bad habit, trust me, my skin looks worse than yours, and I am a chick too, so I am more harshly criticized, at one point I stayed inside hidden for 4 months, without even stepping a foot outside once. It was terrible, I gained tons of weight, was depressed, lethargic, but I felt safe from the outside world. It's not worth it, break the habit slowly, developping skills and knowledge, also philosophy, helps me see it in a bit of a different light than before

You may just have REALLY high levels of testosterone....which when mixed with the top layers of skin can cause a great deal of acne.....talk to your dermotologist about that maybe???? I know that they have Spironolactone to help women with that...but I don't know if it is for males. Best to ya! :)

by the way, if you are going to university and you are a mature student then there should be a health care plan included with your tuition fees that will cover perscription drugs, if money is a problem.

mate, sorry to hear that the situation is so messed up. Are you still using emu oil? Although there are claims that it is non-comedogenic there have been counter-claims that it does indeed clog the pores.

since you cannot start another course for at least 2 months after the first, perhaps you should consider using a retinoid to keep your 'remaining' pores clear.

I cut my accutane treatment by month or a half ro two months, i said fuck it, i broke out really bad like mid way thruogh then cleared up, so i bought the other packs but never picked them up at the pharmacy. Yoyr gonna get a few, and when we do get pimpies and small cests the feelings we had when we really had it bad come back. I know this might not help but imagine all the kids you see on the bus with really really bad acne, remember now you feelfor them. betterperson

ya you might just have to do another cycle...i most likely have to as well cuz im only gunna be on 40 mg for only 4 months...fack, and it's normal to do more than one cycle of accutane, but ya...accutane is just supposed clear your skin until your body is able to keep it clear...like that usually happens around age 25-30 or whatebber but don't get too discouraged kay.

I went on antibiotics after accutane. It's been working but I'm sure after I'm done with them it'll come back too. I'm going to go get my hormone levels tested hopefully. I'm hoping that might give a clue as to why.

Can't say man. I just had my last pill a few days ago. Everyone is different but as has already been mentioned accutane doesn't "cure" anything. It simply stops the acne while your on the drug and allows your skin to heal / shed clogged pores. Some people are clear for life and others have to go on as many as 3-4 treatments. Depends on you and your acne.

Sam, don't worry, there is a solution. For one, I'm sure there are topical acne treatments that your doctor can prescribe. I'm sure your skin is not as bad as it used to be, so it'll be more effective. As a last resort, maybe another round with a higher dosage? It's almost month 5 for me and I'm still breaking out in cysts, so who knows? Don't be suicidal. That's just stupid. You control how you feel, suck it up buddy. Accutane isn't a cure, even though we hope it is, but it isnt. good luck. :(

I really do feel for you though. :( You seem like such a nice, cool person and it sucks that this is happening to you. Please just remember a good percentage of people have to do a 2nd course and then after that the percentages drop dramatically.

Ya luckily my parents have helped me out a little with the money for accutane, seeing that I would cry every morning when I looked in the mirror but ya it's a lot of money and just proves that accutane isn't a miracle pill but hopefully your derm. will give you something that will work other than accutane because your acne won't be as severe as before. I have my fingers crossed for you dude.

i didnt mean "eating crap", there are these special diets that forbid u to eat grains, drink milk and such, u should look into that for sure but ye im anxious to know what ur derm will say about this.

they study in this stuff and can't predict anything, so I guess there is not much to do! try and error....

omg I'm really sorry about what's going on with your skin!! maybe it's your body getting used to being off of accutane and it will go back to looking great after that. I don't know.

when I get my breakouts, all I do is just take it 1 day at a time...that's really all you can do. keep your head up sam.

jesus christ...i cant believe it, ur total dosage was so big and it still came back, dont get too depressed, its been said that in some cases u have to go through 2 treatments, keep it strong.
