All the so-called music lovers, who just want "everyone to stop arguing and just enjoy the music," must stop inculcating their assumption that "all music is equal" to the unwitting majority. It simply is not. Music criticism begins with this realization. Eventually, we must be able to say that Coldplay is better than Radiohead or Radiohead better than Coldplay. When we just throw up our hands before the idol of our "enjoyment", we all lose.
I was at this show and it was one of the best Radioheads shows that I have ever seen. Fantastic light show and of course perfect music. I can't wait for them to come out with their next album and tour again.
call me carzy if you want i dont give a fuck, this is my favorite radiohead song, yes, out of all of them, second i heard ok computer as a whole and it ended with this, i was hooked, brings tears everytime
Same here... when I was first getting into radiohead, I was really excited when I got ok computer 'cause that's the album I heard was "the best." I enjoyed the entire album, but when it ended with this I was just stunned. I got some mad chills, and now I still do every time I hear it.
The Tourist is the example on why OK Computer is an Classic almbum, maybe the best rock album ever. This song, on another album would be the headliner, the best song...on ok computer it kinda get lost...but this is just amazing.
this is a cool live version, but the solo is a bit too mellow, i think. i liked the mtv version of the tourist when ok computer was first released. now there's a greeeeeat live version of this song.
C'mon, now that's crazy talk! I love Radiohead and I think they're the most important band of our generation, but The Beatles are still the greatest band ever!!! For instance, they released something like 14 albums in 6 years! That's right, The Beatles literally changed the world in only 6 years time, and yes, they did in fact change the world!
i dont think they are more or less important, one cannot say.. but i think, where the beatles ended, radiohead begun. they are with no doubt the most geniuos band playing
@angkatanudara That may be true today, but a very strong argument could be made that Radiohead could not exist today if Beatles had not come before. We had to have Beatles and Pink Floyd to create a context for Radiohead. That does not make Radiohead less than Beatles. The Beatles - at least their later work - would not have existed without John Cage coming before. And we had to have Beethoven for John Cage. And it goes on and on. Radiohead stand on the shoulders of giants.
@broadpath Radiohead is more son of REM and Queen than of Pink Floyd. People used to say they were infuenced by U2, and they denied so. they've never hidden their influences, yet they hardly ever say anything about pink floyd
@etejuanete3 REM and Queen? You are thinking of Muse. RH are on a whole higher plane. That is why I mentioned luminaries in my post - Trane, Cage, etc. These are musicians who expanded the foundation of what we recognize as music. Perhaps you see REM and Queen in that light, but I see them as used toilet paper from Thom's arse.
@broadpath well not really. I just said random influences but Thom said once "when I was young, ( or something along those lines) the Pixies and REM changed my life". he's good friend with stipe and has sung with him on stage, of course that was like 15 years ago. before their carreer went in a different way.I DO know several musicians like Cage and beatles influenced them too. about muse... they're sons of The Beands, not even of Radiohead's complete context
@etejuanete3 I don't really have as strong an opinion as seems from my posts. I was just having fun with it. And since you like RH then I'd probably like you too. Peace.
@angkatanudara If you are old enough to remember where music was when the Beatles arrived then I'll grant you credence to say what you said. However, if you were not at least 10 years old in 1964 then you have no way to gauge the impact of Beatles. RH are far better musicians than Beatles but consider that Beatles changed western society.
RH has not yet had that impact on the world. Perhaps they have changed your world, but not the world as a whole.
i saw them the day before, same place (they played at the greek theater two nights in a row), and it was my birthday. man...i wish they played this song :-(
2 people couldn't get into this show, or their fingers slipped and hit the wrong thumb.

amusing that this song is about not taking time to appreciate life, but this is playing too quickly. compare to another example.
however, i look forward to the guitar solo !
