without batteries. it's certainly not cheap and despite something like 200million $ invested they've gone bankrupt several times. while I am a big fan of electric cars, the think business case is not impressive. maybe they can get going this time
@jabajabamaster A new Corvette on the road in Norway would be, roughly, 100'000 USD with the basic model. A Th!nk should be around 40'000 base model and 50'000 with all the bells and whistles. It's rather 2 Th!nks for the price of 1 'vette...
Hydrogen for fuel? I don't believe it's going to happen. Why, because it takes more energy to make hydrogen than it does just put gas in our cars. More energy consumed= more pollution. Another thing to consider is that we will get the hydrogen from fossil fuels not water, so hrdrogen = a fuel that is going to run out. If you think EV's are expensive, hydrogen cars will be worse, about $100,000 each, at that price I'll stay with my gas powered car.
@kevthor64 true, that's why the do "invest" in hydrogen cars, and not in EV; because the latter do work, and they won't forget petrol until It is all gone...
A job well done on this video, useful info, entertaining, good at keeping your interest. It is the best interest of the oil companies for our cars to get 2mi. to the gal. instead of 200mi. to the gallon. Right now our cars are about 30 to 40% efficient, but a powerplant efficiency is about 70 to 85%. It is in the best interest for the power companies to burn less fuel for the power made. So the question to ask is; who do you want on your side, the power companies or the oil companies?
one thing about the comparison to hydrogen powered cars, and electric powered cars. To charge the electric car in the first place, you need electricity (obviously XD) but that electricity comes from a powerstation, thats doing more damage to the environment, than a normal combustion engined car, there is no way of powering a car, that doesn't damage the environment at all, every way, there would be somewhere along the line that it does something.
Well you could power cars from green electricity, which gets more developed everyday. Scientists from Harvard and Finland have calculated the possibilities of wind power. They found out that with a fully built world wild wind power park we would have more than enough electricity for the whole world.
The only reason we have cars as they are today, is because we can fill them up in a matter of minutes, and do much more miles than any electric car.
This electric car can go 110 miles on one charge, which is less than the average petrol powered car, but you have to wait a while for it to charge up, which makes your journey even longer. Which in other words, is just taking a step back.
The main reason that we have cars as they are today is that gasoline cars became cheaper than electric cars in the 1920's. And oil companies didn't mind.
Anyways, how often do you drive for more than 110 miles in day? Two days in a year? You can charge it while sleeping. Besides, batteries are getting better and in few years we will have e-cars going as far as petrol cars. Check out Tesla Model S!
HD both taking life and giving life when comes to movies.. it is sucking the "movie" feeling of "man that's a good movie!" and replacing it with "man that look like standing right here in the room!" it sucks out dreaminess but it gives clarity!
Why isn't it possible. The original Th!nk's Ford produced are still being driven here. This is definitely a much better upgrade. I would prefer to have this version than even the Th!nk Ox. Electric Aid, do you think it is possible to buy one of these now and get it to the US?
The Th!nk Ox is currently impractical at current battery prices . . . it is at least 2 to 3 years away. Perhaps they could convert to the series-hybrid architecture.
At the moment Think only takes new orders for fleet customers. Together with that, they have about 3-400 cars that are being completed for the private customers who ordered it last fall. I saw that the car rental company Hertz was selling 2 of their just recently but they are gone now. I will let you know if something comes up =)
This car is amazing (as is the video :) ) Where is this car sold besides Norway? I would love to see it here in the US, but I don't think that'll be possible.
Clarkson and James May. both are quite disastrously ignorant even though I think May would not be opposed to the truth if he was schooled a bit. he seems to be genuinely curious even though he hasn't acquired much intelligence yet.
All Norwegian crew except for the narrator. In the production/shooting period we where 4-5 people over a period of 3 days plus some extra hours =) Plus 2 guys and the producer/editor in the post production period that took 2 weeks or so.
It takes 12 hours with a 10Amp socket and 8 hours with a 20Amp socket. We just plugged it in at our garage at the end of each day. Typicly around 22:00 and it was ready to go at sunrise the next morning.

So they're a lot better than than nickel-cadmium, good. Lithium is potentially dangerous to human organism but it's nothing comparing to cadmium. Don't get me wrong, I totally approve this vehicle I just wanted to resolve my doubts, and I did :) I'd be happy to buy this vehicle, as soon as my country's energy production drop from 95% coal, to something like 20%. But for countries like Norway or Switzerland it seems to be perfect transportation.
Why wait for coal power to be phased out? EV's are so efficient with current battery technology that it's still way cleaner to run an EV that is charged completely from Coal than it would be from gas.
Think about the carbon footprint / emissions of getting gas to your pump. First, you have to power an oil rig to get the oil out of the ground. Then you have to transport the crude to a refinery. Then you use a lot of electricity / power to refine the crude. Then it has to get to the pump!
@Shrubtastic I HATE it when people give the coal-powered electricity argument!!!!!!! THINK ABOUT IT PEOPLE: Here we have an electric car next to a gas car. The electric car gets it's power from a coal plant. The gas gets it from gasoline. One day, the government installed solar panels all over and wind turbines too.
