several factors...MXR micro amp is £40....this is £150. This does sound better yes but I wouldn't swap my micro amp for anything. The micro amp is good for pushing a strat, giving a mild boost with little tone colouring...a strat still sounds like a strat, a paul like a paul, it will push your amp harder, the rothwell will give a bit of tone colouring with the mid boost but will fatten up the sound...more bass, more mids etc which the mxr doesn't have. It's all down to choice really

i like how it adds to a strats jangle without coloring the tone. like for example my strat through a digitech gnx3 sounds like it has humbuckers in it, and i like to hear the natural tone of a guitar
