To everyone saying it is unplayable with the same card, 2 things.

1. Make sure to enable crossfire in the Catalyst Control Center

2. Try enabling/disabling vsync

Dont test the FPS on a BETA game ...it's not the same as the full game !

Hello.

I have the same 4870x2 but my second GPU not running for some reason. I read that alot of users have the same issue. it run BF3 everything on LOW around 25FPS.... how yourse run so smothe even on HIGH settings? i have latest 11.11 drivers with win 7 64bit. i have read that ati stop support this card and the last known working drivers is 10.5a

hey there. first disable AI .

second try to disable ambient oclusion in the game. it will give u 15+ frames.

@tomeredlich tried everything. Disabled AI on ccc no difference. Still the one GPU is on idle (temperatures) seems like i'm on trouble.... everything on low 1080p getting 15fps.... seems like one gpu is out of order...

the 2nd gpu will work only in full screen mode. so if u playing the game in window mode it will not work.

@tomeredlich Disabling Catalyst AI, is a bad idea if you want to utilise both GPU's on the X2. use afterburner and monitor GPU load once you have disabled CatAI, You will see that only one GPU is doing any work. Ambient Occlusion default setting of HBAO is quite hard on these cards,but SSAO can run quite comfortably at a reasonable frame rate. I have an Alienware m17x R2 laptop with mobile version of the X2 (which is clocked quite a bit slower by default) and i can run ultra @ 1920x1200

@pheargoth Hey I have that laptop too, but i getting shit fps, 20-30 and varies far too much. What are all your settings? I just installed 11.12 and the Profiles and still the same! 2nd GPU is coming on according to Riva tuner.

@WeeeBob1 Hey there, this might seem like a strange thing to suggest, but try ENABLING vsync.....my framerate INCREASED substantially on these cards for some reason....in single player i can run on all settings ultra, except AA deferred (which I set to off, or 2x) @ around 45-50 fps @ 1920x1200. In multiplayer i run 1680x1050 @ medium settings for a solid 60fps

@RICKY69SC Leave it set to "let application decide" in CCC, but in game, make sure vsync is enabled. The only problem with this is that you get some mouse lag, and it's a bit annoying

@tomeredlich you will gain substantial FPS by ensuring that AA deferred is set to of, or 2x and you can leave AA post on medium or high (does not cost much performance, but doesn't look as good as AA deferred) hope this helps!

@leontokardos86 I had the same issue, Alt Tabbing the game got my second GPU running. If Alt + Tab does not get your 2nd core running, try setting the game to windowed mode then back to full screen. Use MSI Afterburner, and set it up so that it displays the GPU usage overlay in game.

Never de-activate Catalyst AI if you have Crossfire or X2 as it will stop Crossfire or 1 of the cores on X2 cards. tomeredlich, I dont know how you get 2 cores running when you disable AI....

For all of 4872x2 users - Catalys A.I. must be on standard or advanced, otherwise your 2nd GPU will not be used...

I am seriously thinking to buy XBOX instead of upgrading my computer.. I have almost same specs freez1305. I haven't test it yet and were thinking to pre-order but now will not buy it unless I am damn sure it will be playable on my PC.

I played on Maximum settings, while playing on Ultra, game runs very smooth but I feel like my aim goes out of focus or it makes me difficult to choose and shoot.

I am using latest drivers and AMD Fusion utlity.

@freeze1305 you have weak CPU. He has about 20-25fps so this gpu is not enough for Ultra 16x aa but for high and 2xaa is ok.

@freeze1305 i have a very similar setup to you. it played like shit on low for me. i think the beta was badly coded so dont worry to much. you should be able to play quite comfortabley on medium-high settings in the finished game :)

@freeze1305 try installing AMD Fusion utility and setting it on GAMING!! You must be able to play it since your specs are good. I am playing it max resolution.

@freeze1305 Hey you've got the new 11.9 drivers right? That and the new 11.9 CAP completely sorted it for me. I was having the same trouble. It's something to do with 'crossfire scaling' from what the driver's update notes said. Good luck getting it to run! I only got it going properly yesterday but damn am I pleased.

@freeze1305 i have same problem with my 4870X2 have 3,5GHz P core2 duao 8GB ddr2 and hi asus Mainboard.. on 64 men map its almost unplayable.. maybe its solution buy a 6970.. If not im going crazy and i can switch all of my components..

Update you RAM, 4GB is not gonna do it.

On hight settings it needs like 5 - 6 GB.. so get an extra 4GB on your system. 8GB should be OK !

@freeze1305 Your RAM isn't good enough I think, The minimal RAM setting is 4Go DDR3.
