  • yeah man !!!!

  • This is awesome.

  • improv or did u plan it out?

  • that is sweet! :) Great job guys!

  • since when did gingers know how to play acoustic?

  • Yea there was no need for a Bass at all, If I heard this w/o video I would have never known there was even a bass playing LOL.. no offense.. It did sound good though

  • Jake can I touch your hair?

  • Awesome bass

  • so good the bass player should get a spike hand thing ;)

  • y'all should switch instruments!!

  • is that a fuzz box or crybaby he has his bass runnin through, i love mine, hehe

  • its alright ... its not the best, but not the worst :) keep playing bass

  • a bass solo that involves a acoustic? in my part of the world we call it a duet :)

  • @gokory Ya, the original name of the video was bass/guitar duet. But I decided that since Dawson is only playing the chords, it's technically a Bass Solo

  • @shadow904 It's "technically" just a melody played on a bass since a solo is "technically" only one instrument.

    ..."technically."

  • o.O necer knew bass could do that lol i luv teh sound of bass gutairs

  • That was good. Sounded way too much like a guitar though. Get rid of the pick, man!

  • Ah, Mr. Guitar I see that the tables have turned. :)

  • I like it.

  • He's good, but he needs to use his fingers. It gives a better sound. But apart from that, AMAZING m8!

  • sounds almost like a 6 string guitar, nice solo :D!

  • What does this have to bass?

  • do you know what effect he is using on the bass

  • Sounds nice with the simple Am and e chord progression the bass sound surfy if thats a term

  • very good guys!

imma bassist myself and i just gotta say well done... but im just not a fan of ppl picking on a bass.. i guess you could call me picky...

  • How'd he get his bass to do that? It's amazing! :D

  • once upon a time i heard a song so good i shat my pants it was sang by twelve year old children......the best in the land hince the above musical performance

  • it is a bass you retards...you can put effects on a bass guitar just like you can an electric or acoustic guitar. In the band i play lead guitar in, our bass player does this sometimes....our bass player uses an expensive GK bass amp so it has really good quality sound...don't believe me look it up.

  • the acoustic was pretty trippy and the bass playing was real sick. nice job

  • Hey, that acoustic guitar sounds pretty cool, would you mind telling me the chord progression?

  • Sounds like C-Am.

  • Dude...that definitely is a bass......a fender jazz to be specific.....has a sick slap tone

  • i think its odd how the bass has distortion

makes it sound like an electric when he plays those high notes

  • no its definitley a bass.

  • no, thats definitely a bass, look at the tuners. 5 string fender jazz bass. correct me if i'm wrong. the bass player in my band plays one

  • Accurate.

  • is it ironic that the guitar becomes the bass and the bass becomes the solo-er?

  • J'adore :p

Bon travail les gars ! <3

  • the bass player would be a good guitar player

  • bass is a guitar...

but just by the way he holds and plays the pick, shows he plays 6 string guitar as well...

  • prolly not, i started playing bass with a pick first

  • i was talking about the way he plays with it..not just that he uses a pick..but his style of using the pick and the style of his left fret hand also...his playing it like a guitar, so im pretty sure he plays both..

ya, most people start with a pick

  • hmmm bass is totaly not the same as a normal electric guitar ,,

    its much harder 0.0

  • thats very dependent. if you want to be as good as say les claypool then yeah. if you want to be good enough to become famous you just need to build enough finger strength to push the strings down

  • "Having some fun at a party. Everything is improvised."

    Their is not song.

  • what song is this

    ?

  • Everything is improvised.

  • anyone other than me want to take a crack at transcribing this for once? No? lol. Awesome job, I love bass overdrive

  • good job keep on going

  • Nice, the jam just gets better as it goes.

  • how does he get his bass to sound like and electric..is it plugged into an electric amp?

  • yea probably...

or he just plugged in an overdrive pedal into a bass amp.

  • really good bass solo, i enjoyed it

  • thats weird but way cool

  • Lol guy on the left easy job, 2 chords lol.

  • keep guitar at rhythm. bass sounds good in lead.

  • Terrific !!

  • lol nice one...the bass is very very very awesome!

  • Is he just going from E to Am?

  • That was awesome! hey, do you have the tabs for the guitar and bass for this???

  • it was pobably ment to be the lead. and jake is an awesome bass player so he cando wat he wants

  • the bass is to lay down the beat, sometimes a rythym, and to carry the lead if need be

  • The bass player is cool, but its kind of off setting to hear the bass so loud and the guitar so quiet (I know its an acustic guitar) and it hosnetly sounds liek the bass is the lead and the guitar is a type of rythem guitar... i dunno, im new to this kind of stuff im only 14

  • it sounds like that cause...thats how it is, the bass is playing lead (YES its possible) and the guitar is playing a rhythm part

  • thort it was funi watchn d bass play d lead lol

  • I enjoy a humble bass solo.

  • the bass sounds like a guitar

  • hes probably using a guitar amp

  • or a OCTAVER!!!

  • GREATTTTTT !!! ^^ I LOOOVE !!

  • Jake is cute :)

lol, anyway, pretty cool song. Like everyone else i was kinda miffed when i saw he was playing bass like a guitar, but whatever. Not the end of the world.

  • i pick bass sometimes...most metal playersdo...i also finger pick it adds varity to playing and makes it more fun

  • the bass player is awsome sounds like a violin

  • niceeeeeeeeeeee

  • What sounds better to you is not universal. I enjoyed this but i prefer low sounds on the bass much more, distortion is a lot of fun tho.

  • pick playing was a popular style in the 50's and 60's when many guitarist started to play bass. It allowed people to hear the bass rather than just feeling it. As time went by pick style started to fade away and was replaced by finger and slap. so to clear this up you can play bass with a pick and by the way Paul McCarthney (The Beatles bass player) used a pick to play. The bassist has his own style of playing so back off if you don't like it too bad. Sorry i went off topic. Nice Improve 5/5

  • i think it was good, you can slap the bass, finger the bass or use a pick, why not? it depends on your stile

  • lol Well I liked it anyway.

  • wow ive never heard a bass that high lmao , thats just wrong

  • gotcha... and yeah all the people at my school think they can play bass now it's retarded.

  • precisly (spelling), my school is just full of a bunch of poosers who say that they can play bass, guitar, drums etc., i only know a few good players

  • same here, i have one friend though that's just crazy on guitar and does all this crazy shit with it like he'll lift it up and yank on the springs in the back, and he can shred like there's no tomorrow... awesome...

  • exactly, there are alot of kids who think that they can play (but cant) and then there are the very select few who are just monsters

  • i'm sure that if everyone would just find an instrument ant stick with it then there would be more monster players man

  • nice, but that comment before me was kinda sad,

    he's a kinda sad person I mean;)

  • now try that with a real bass sound or a not so queer distortion..

Might as well be playing a guitar if you're going to have you bass sound like that.

And sorry, I have to say it, but damn is that one ugly looking bass..

  • Sounds really cool, I dig the sound of a high-gain distortion bass :)

  • Awesome 4 string guitar .... . . . 0.o ...

  • 5 string...

  • @mha1986 5 sting dah!!

  • @mha1986 5 in yo face nigga!

  • what model J bass is that?

  • haha fun stuff great job guys!

  • might as well play a guitar bro.. :)

  • Yeah. That distortion takes away any bassness that you could have.

  • i think its a five????

    idk i cant tell

    great solo by the way....

  • 4 stringer

  • ohh dude how many strings does your

    bass have? it sounds higher,

but this is really awesome. Good job!

  • any tabs....mybad

  • does ur friend playin the bass have and tabs

or know where i can find them?????

    i appericate it.

  • what's with gingers two chords only? and this is what you guys do at parties lol?

  • "what's with gingers two chords only?" LOL!

  • :) i explained it on an earlier post but that was a while ago, so i'll explain again...At the time of this video, Dawson had only been playing guitar for about a month, so we couldn't get to complex with him

  • dont play bass with a damn pick! thts what u have fingers for!!!!

  • i agree

  • good to have someone tht knos how 2 play bass the right way

  • its a different style of bass, when you use a pick you get a sharper and cleaner sound, thus, its better for a solo. fingers provide a duller background sound which is better for playing in groups.

  • then why would they make BASS picks?

  • I would've liked to hear more chord progressions. That would add a lot to the song and spice it up. Good start though!

  • Hi There;

    nice done, i love it!!

i knew i couldn,t be the only one who use a bassguitar that way.... (check my clip and promotrailer)

    greetz from another bassplayer

  • Huh. I've actually never really seen a bass played that way before. It's a very different style from most people. Well done, though. He's definitely got skill, it just seems like he should be trying to play lead guitar rather than bass, which is usually more suited to keeping the beat.

  • The second a bass player shows moderate skill and sounds like a guitar, they SHOULD start guitar.

    Idiot.

  • he does play guitar. he just happens to play bass as well.

  • what about those of us who just simply like bass better?

i play in a style similar to that with distortion and all i just like the bass more

  • where is bass? i think the one on left is playing electric guitar, not bass... or am i wrong?

  • The bass guy's pro. Looks like the acoustic guy was just switching between two different, but easy chords.

  • good job guyz

  • Thnx man no need to find the brand, i got it. I will try use no of those too, thanks for answering!!

  • Heay guys great song.

Hats off to the bass player, i cant use a pick!

  • nie zamuuulaaajcieeee. ;D

  • Can anyone tell me what effect is the bassist using???

  • Its just a distortion pedal. if you would like i can find out what brand.

  • firecrotch :) on the left :P

  • this is pretty awesome. and i dont see how this is cliff burton.

  • cool bass melodies

  • cool

  • hes a gingerkid wadya expect. lol jk:P

  • its called Cliff Burton.

  • its only a jam, so know point in being so serious about whether it was good or not

  • Why only 3 stars?? i rated 5!

  • bloody awsome

  • i thought it sounded pretty cool, screw what anyone else says

  • lol thanks ^_^

  • Looked like a very dull party.

  • Horrible. It's easy as hell to play a solo with 8 notes and a guitar song that never changes between Em and Am. Weak. Try some key changes.

  • hey if its so easy lets you upload sumthing

  • hes making the bas sound like a guitar

  • bass is a guitar lol

  • That is a disgrace to Bass and guitar. A. WTF the bass player isn't too good and is playing a piece that does not belong to a bass. B. The guitarist plays 2 chords.

  • yeah dude, i agree... this is terrible... a disgrace to bass and guitar duets

  • this is pretty bad, actually... i hope you guys have gotten better since this was taken... and you need to learn how to play with your fingers on that bass, man...

  • bass? i dont hear any bass. is that dude on the right playing distorted bass making it sound like distorted guitar?

  • Yup!

  • That was soooo totally awsome!!!! I loved it! whats the song called? i wanna play it too! .lol

  • it was a song that we made for a class project :)

  • lol does dawson only know 2 chords?

  • lol no, but when the video was taken he was pretty new at the guitar

  • youre good at it but a fucking yellow base is ghaa!!

  • very good ^^

    10 points

  • okay that "bass" has six strings.

Are you sure its no guitar?

Basses don't sound anything like that.

  • i'm positive. it only has 5 strings. its also put through a pedal.

  • Wow. This didn't suck. Way to go you guys, though it sounded better when I was there... Wot, wot, wot. I has a fort.

  • Now You just need to throw some killer lyrics down and you'll drive the girls crazy! Keep it up!

  • That guy on the left is Bad Ass! He is a real Guitar Hero and a Hottie too!!!

  • pansies, but nice bass playing

  • that dawson guy cant play but hes so adorable! he looks like a cute red headed puppy!

  • sweet ... my first negative you tube comment .... but its only a two chord rhythm ... i can do better ... i'm not the best no ( i started playing 6 months b4 this video ) ... but don't judge me on this simple bit ... and many people would look bad next to the awesome talent that is jake ....

  • hehehe guess who, moo

  • Hunter .... you suck

  • OMG! That was so awesome!! Woot Woot!! :P

  • commenting again.... wootastic
