I saw this quartet earlier this year at the Sydney Opera House.... I still havent been the same since.... Definatly one of the most amazing concerts ive ever seen.....
Saw these guys in Philly. The concert opened up with Wayne whistling. It was great and they played for about 1 hour and then 1.5 hours straight. Patitucci definately was driving the band in a lot of instances.
I am to see this band tomorrow night at the Berklee Performance Center. Tony is dead. Elvin is dead. I need a new inspiration. Brian Blade may be that man.
Now that we know that it is posible let's popose him! It'd be so great to have a leader like him... a great artist.... I'm Mexican, yet i'd vote for him if he were Mexican, hehe. Peace!
Hi, I was lucky enough to meet Brian after he used my drumset on a gig. I have a picture of him holding the ride tom. He signed the drumhead, "thanks for the Ludwigs" His ride at that time was an old K Zildjian with cracks and holes drilled to stop the cracking. I bet he found that in New Orleans. It's a beautiful cymbal.
Ha.. No... But he probably drilled the holes into it himself. But if it's like an old Turkish Zildjian than he probably would drill holes or put rivets in it.
I went to see them play, at the Barbican in London, tonight! Brian Blade was awesome, John Patitucci & Danilo Perez, I was not familiar with, but they were both incredible. Brian & John had a good connection bouncing of each other, whilst Danilo and the great Mr Wayne Shorter, smiled at their youthful enthusiasm........till, Wayne decided to "blow" them away.
wooooo yeah!

Brian Blade is the most expressive and colorful drummer I've ever heard. I'm lucky as hell to have seen this quartet live recently.

I bet he made it...
Jazzman303 3 years ago
Do you mean, you think he crafted it with his own two hands? Got the metal. heated it. hammered it. and signed it with Zildjian?
Saxyman14 3 years ago
Ha.. No... But he probably drilled the holes into it himself. But if it's like an old Turkish Zildjian than he probably would drill holes or put rivets in it.
