@themkrr I have to thanks DT for this awesome song too, we shared good moments while listening and crying to this song, while appreciating the sea brease chilling our spines and making us hugh. Love ya Themkr!
If you guys have a privilage of listening to this song through a very good headphone, you'll hear A LOT of wonderful sounds by Jordan and Petrucci..even MP's drum sound was put all the way left before the whole band come together..this truly is a masterpiece.
i used to listen to this song after my girlfriend broke up with me and loved her very much and had very hard time accepting the fact that we wont be together anymore. i felt like this song describes exactly what i felt and went through.
And face, this time now on my own Days disappear And my world keeps changing I feel you here And it keeps me sane So I'm moving on I'll never forget As you lay there and watched me Accepting the end I knew you were scared You were strong I was trying I gave you my hand I said it's okay letting go time to leave here And I'll carry on The best that I can without you here beside me Let him come take you home
Why, tell me the reasons why Try, still I don't understand Will I ever feel this again Blue sky, I'll meet you in the end Free them, free the memories of you Free me, and rest 'til I'm with you A day like today My whole world has been changed Nothing you say Will help ease my pain Turn, I'll turn this slowly round Burn, burn to feel alive again She, she'd want me to move on See me, this place I still belong Give chase, to find more than I have found
@lsmartin96 It's nothing that happened to him. It was a thought that came to him when he saw a young couple, and he tried to imagine what it would be like for one of them to lose the other due to a deadly disease, and how they would deal with it. (According to a statement of LaBrie on his site)
I remember hearing this and felt all of that pain. I always feel it everytime I hear it. Lost my mom three years ago, and I felt this song all over. I did appreciate the second part. It's hard to move on, but we're supposed to. As hard as it can be, we're supposed to.
It just breaks my heart every time I hear LaBrie singing "I gave you my hand, I said it's okay letting go - time to leave here.. And I'll carry on the best that I can without you here beside me.. Let him come take you home.."
@Remaanahk I think his intention with this song was this: He saw a couple walking around and he wondered what would happen if one of them became terminally ill. So he decided to write a song about it.
So I'm moving on I'll never forget As you lay there and watched me Accepting the end I knew you were scared You were strong I was trying I gave you my hand I said it's okay letting go time to leave here And I'll carry on The best that I can without you here beside me Let him come take you home
@Niamorg1007 I bet the people who say that only heard like one song by them, being something like Constant Motion or something. Because it is pretty easy to find most of their songs showing emotion
@Niamorg1007 i didnt know there was people who said DT plays with no emtion, cuz from what i know, they are the only ones who play with emotion and have great melody..
@marymeek79 OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG WE FEEL THE SAME WAY :D HI FIVES :D yohh DONT JUST SIT THERE .. DO SOMETHING X) LETS CHEER UP
remindes me on my grandpa..recently died..this song can always make me cry.the part that begins with ''so I'm moving on''... most beautiful words that I have ever heard.only people that have suffred a lost can understand this song.I just can help stoping tears when I hear it...rest in peace grandpa.you deserve it.after all suffering that you been through.<3
Imagine "I'll meet you in the end" wooww how sad is this shit ! make feel so so sad because we might be in this situation ,we don't know the future :s
Im obsessed with this song. Very emotional song. Lyrics describe perfectly a situation ive been to and its just beautiful hearing a song that means so much to you, brings you memories from my favourite band. I want to cry every time i hear this song. This is amazing.
i really think this needs a music video, if done well it could make this song 10 times more emotional. especially for the people who haven't experienced losing someone very close yet
I leant this album to a friend of mine to get him in to dream theater (he subsequently ended up getting us tickets to go and see them) but he's now in hospital after a brain aneurysm and is fairly critical. If the worst happens, I will request this for his funeral
If ever there was evidence Labrie should be allowed to write more. This and 'Vacant' from ToT are possibly the most emotional moments from Dream Theater (obviously the whole of SDOIT is well up there as well due to the subject matter)
Disappear is to Dream Theater as Hyper Chondriac Music is to Muse
=O
well Hyper Chondriac Music is a bit more desolate and lyrically hateful, but in composition... meh w/e lol this is awesome. Everything on this album is awesome in fact except for Blind Faith which is merely OK >.>
I'm vouching for Vacant. Maybe just for the cello solo alone. Space-Dye Vest is haunting and evil sounding, but not really sad. I don't know this song quite as well as the other two but it doesn't affect me quite as much as Vacant or Space-Dye Vest.
@T7Champ Disappear is definitely their saddest song. It's about death, pure and simple. Vacant is really more about the fear of someone's impending death. And Stream of Consciousness doesn't make the song sadder IMO. If anything SOC is like a light at the end of the tunnel for that song. Like a journey through the mind of a comatosed(sp) person before they eventually mange to wake up.
@melman I know what you mean bro,we will all go through this pain but in the end you know it was for a good reason and you just have to accept it even though in your heart, its unacceptable.
Personally, I think this is, indeed, one of the saddest songs ever made. It has a dreamlike surrealism to it that reminds you that, sometimes, life's sad parts can be worse than our darkest dreams.
HOWEVER.
Space-Dye Vest was ten times sadder than this song will ever be. Even though I heard THIS song first, and you'd think that'd make me prefer it... the moment I got halfway through Space-Dye Vest, I just.. I stopped what I was doing, and I felt like giving up.
The combination of these lyrics and those sickening guitar/keyboard sections make this song quite possibly the most disturbingly sad, depressing and hopeless song ever made. I mean the lyrics are sad but the instrumental work just gives you goosebumps and that kind of sickening feeling in your stomach. I dont care what you compare this too, this is 7 minutes of some of the darkest shit ever. Obviously the song is sad but the fact that its so damn dark and yet beautiful just makes it disturbing.
in my eyes DT is the "super band" because most bands have at least 1 member who sucks at their instrument or just does simple shit, in DT all the members are extremely talented at their instrument, but this song is just great
now that i think about it, almost every DT song made me remember some time in my childhood
