@jy2jules No there is no such thing as a tethered iphone 3G. So you should be fine to jailbreak. Only the newer iphone 3gs have to be tethered.

Been follow this video. phone is already 4.2.1. Downloaded the Firmware. I got Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 downloaded. When I go to open the .ipsw My iphone1,2_4.21_8C148_Restore is a folder not a .ipsw. Why is that?

I did everything correctly but when i installed ultrasn0w, it still said no sim when my tmobile sim card was in it. I'm on a 3g with the 06.15.00 baseband. I rebooted it several times and still doesnt work. Please Help.

I tried following your instructions for unlocking my 3G using Redsn0w and ultrasn0w.

The redsn0w app at the link you list didn't have a check box for "Install iPad Baseband" as the video suggests. Now I'm up on 4.2.1 and I can't get Redsn0w to unlock the carrier lock. I think I've done something awful and I'm stuck.

Any ideas?
