I work in a prison in Goodyear and these things blow thru all the time( not as big as this one) but they CAN do a lot of damage. Ripping off branches and slinging garbage cans around..... And one of these things took my cousins batting cage over the house into the street and down the block end over end until it stopped about 500 feet later...

OK for once and for all.....this is NOT a tornado. It is a dust-devil....and a fairly wimpy one at that. Real tornadoes MUST FORM FROM THE CLOUDS DOWNWARD, down from a thunderstorm. Very few t-storms in Az. rotate. But, during the late monsoon, ocassionally a few will. A few of those will spawn funnel clouds (not touching ground) or even a tornado or two (circulation makes contact with ground). Dust devils occur on usually clear, hot summer days. It is simply hot air rising upwards, spinning.

Basically they are tornadoes except they are called Desert Tornadoes or in other words dust storm. That's all there is to it, they don't cause a lot of damage and don't bring any rain lol

Just title it as "Dust Devil that Looks Like a Tornado". It will still catch peoples attention, plus you won't have to get all those fake comments, or the ones who say the title is misleading or have people telling you it's a dust devil. This is actually one of the best dust devils I have ever seen, it resembles the looks of a type 2 tornado.

Yeah, but dust devils in the desert are not to be played with. The hotter it gets, the more intense it gets. They can have 60mph winds in them.
