  • I wanted to notify all fans of Eleanor Parker's that someone else and I are putting together a petition to the Academy to give Eleanor an Honorary Award. We aren't positive that this will work, but we have a strong desire to try. If you're interested, just leave a comment/message on my channel. It is very crucial to have as many people wanting this to occur, so if you know people that may be interested, please tell them. Thank you to all who are fans or interested in this great woman.

  • She is such a beauty.

  • I remember a movie she did where she played a sort of Calamity Jane character. It was most enjoyable. Yes she is a beauty.

  • She should get an Honorary Oscar before its too late!

  • wow what a women. wish iwas around in her day... and around her. lol

  • @bognerful Check out my new ELEANOR PARKER tribute next Wednesday January 12th.

  • One of my favorite actresses and surely one of the best of her time, not sufficiently recognized. All of her interpretations are flawless. She's simoly great!

  • After seeing on ABC tv;the 40thanniversay of "The sound of music"they invite Julie Andrews and all who played Trapp infants. They remember Christopher Plummer and they don't even mentionned Eleonor Parker. This make me so sad.But Thanks basilnelson for the tribute to the queen diva of Hollywood.

  • @satyricon55 I must agree with you. I thought the more mature Eleanor Parker was more attractive than the much younger Julie Andrews.

  • @satyricon55 . Though I like Julie Andrews, But i agree with you..She has a very pretty face.

  • Underrated actress and beauty who never got her due.

  • Dear Eleanor,

Happy Brithday to one of the most talented actresses to have come out of Hollywood. It's sad you were not appreciated in your time but now new generations are appreciating you. I hope you have a wonderful birthday with your family!!!!

    Love,

    Astralagosto

  • She was/is a very underated actress. Beauty,Brains, Sex Appeal, and Very Talented. Very few people have it all , she did. I hope someday she gets the respect she deserves.

  • I've just seen her in Scaramouche. She was absolutely brilliant - and soooooooo beautiful!

  • The exquisitely lovely and extraordinary actress. She should receive an oscar for her career. 'Caged' is the most powerful movie I have ever seen, and her interpretation is unmatched to this day.

  • love that photo with all the furs and that 'winged' hat: very much a 1940's powerdame!!

  • Existe en mi familia la historia de que Eleonor Parker nacio en Puerto Cabello Venezuela y se llamaba Eleonor Guillen, hermana de mi abuela. si alguien sabe mas de esto escribalo por aqui

  • She was an exquisitely beautiful woman. I'll never forget her role in "Scaramouche." I could not believe that Stewart Granger would prefer Jamie Lee Curtis's mother to this magificent, passionate redhead.

  • I must agree with you. I thought she was more desirable in her mature role as the Baroness in the 'Sound of Music' than the younger and talented Julie Andrews.

  • @basilnelson: Absolutely! The Baroness is a thankless role, and Parker brought her off with dignity and grace.

  • @invictus1946 granger was married to Jean Simmons a beautiful woman

  • Eleanor Parker is one of the great beauties in the history of film and a brilliant, versatile actress as well. She not only had talent and beauty but an inner loveliness and sensuality that comes forth in so many of her roles. She's one of the immortals in film history.

  • has anyone got the means to load ' an american dream' ?.....I reckon eleanor is wonderful in that...cant find it anywhere

  • A truly classy very pretty lady with talent ! When I saw "Voice of the Turtle "[with Ronald Reagan ] I became a fan... Very few could shine in a closeup like the lovely Miss Parker! .Thanks for the video

  • She was and is beautiful!

  • Just wondering... why not a single photo of "the Baronness" from the SOUND OF MUSIC? Copyright problems? I was hoping there'd be at least one! :) I first saw her in "Eye Of The Cat."

  • Couldn't find a picture of the Baroness. Will carry on looking as I plan to release another tribute to the lovely Eleanor.

  • i agree! though i absolutely adore Julie Andrews, i always wanted to BE the baroness..

  • Eleanor Paker was an impressively beautiful actress in Hollywood's golden ages. Her acting was remarkable in theatrical sense. I am truely glad to see her photos. Thank you.

  • She's such a classic Hollywood beauty! I love her look in the first photo shown.

  • She's so pretty!

  • A masterpiece of music and hollywood - so look forward to your work!

  • Wonderful...thank you

  • Does anyone know where Eleanor Parker is today?

  • Eleanor is retired at the age of 86 years. Her last screen appearance was in 1991. The music in the video is Ennio Morricone's 'Love Theme Fortunata'. Glad you enjoyed the tribute.

  • Thanks for this - she has been my favorite actress since I saw Intrerrupted Melody. Nice to others appreciatre this terrific actress.

  • Thanks for the info. I have written to the Academy to lobby them for an honorary award. It probably will make no difference but at least its on their radar. Can you all do the same????

  • Yes as Baz stated Eleanor is retired. And a few years back when she was invited to participate in a documentary about Sound of Music she declined the offer. But last year she was interviewed at a Film NOIR festival thing in Palm Springs, California saw a pic of her at the event she looks as if she may have suffered a stroke but still looks quite good.

  • @myrnaloysboy lives in palm springs. I wonder what she looks like.

  • The Academy should and must give her a Honorary Award.

What is the name of the music? Its beautiful.

  • Thanks, Basil!!!! Eleanor was underrated as both a beauty and an actress. That bone structure!!!! That relentless red hair!!!!

  • Thank you for this lovely tribute to Eleanor Parker. Wonderful!

  • Yes, what is the music?? It is gorgeous and fits the piece perfectly!! Loved when you faded into color and then back to black and white. OK so where is a shot of Eleanor in The Sound of Music??? Great job!!!

  • is the music "umbrellas of cherborg"

  • I was so hoping that you would do this. Your tributes are beautiful! Eleanor Parker is one of my favorites; she is a woman whose acting talents are extraordinary.

  • thank you so much basilneson ! i love eleanor parker! what a lovely actress and a lady!
