A friend of mine has the same problem, her father (muslim, but not muslim-muslim hehehe) doesn't want her to wear the hijab, but she does so anyway. and then there are non-muslims who say "ohh, poor thing that your father makes you wear this!". i guess sometimes you just can't win. May Allah strengthen us and give us patience, Amin.

My sister is one of those angry Muslim converts. She's the only Muslim in my family yet she feels that my whole family should just accept it without question. When we do question her she gets angry with us. I keep wondering when she will realise that being a Muslim is about respect and not arrogance

I am in this situation myself. I was a skinhead for 12 years before becoming a muslim and I am the first muslim in my entire family history. I practiced Islam for 3 months in secret before letting them know. On top of living in an area where there are no muslims or masajids for 30 miles.
