Number 1: Anything that was declared a hoax by officials is probabley a hoax.

Number 2: The footage was supposedly found several monthes after thier dissapearance, yet they were able to put in all the music, edit each frame nicely, and even do all the credits that would require the assistance of a computor.

oh shit i almost forgot to mention Monkshood is a plant, and i think that the cycle of which it blooms is tied to the Lunar Cycle, aka the Full Moon, but i think the Lunar thing is just the creation of the human mind, but is definitely a plant.
