Basta brand cylinder - quality! One of my suppliers used to sell these in boxes of 100... For £100 - £1 each! I have certain locks, such as this, which I hang on to, to show off my picking skills! I'm a locksmith and I'm not worried about people 'having a go' when they lock themselves out - especially now I'm passed the embarrassment of having to charge people for removing broken improvised picks or drill bits...
this cant be done except by extreme luck in this sort of timeframe unless the lock has been dismantled and reassembled with only one locking pin active, 2 seconds is not enough time to press every pin....fact is you arent even raking the lock, you are using a single pin pick and not a rake
a tiny piece of paper got stuck inside, couldnt get it out with a pick or a straw attached to a vacuum cleaner!i then checked out this video!turns it the rest of the way like the guy said!!simple!!but now the key wont unlock it!!!! it must be the damn paper!!! cant see it to get it out,any solutions?or is it new lock time?if only i'd have watched this video first!!any advice would be greatly appreciated!
i got my lock pick kit an hour ago,the left side of my patio has never had a key, tried in vain to pick it for an hour! i tried the right side that i do have a key for,it took about 30 sec's!!real amused with myself!!it got stuck after the half turn, the key ofcourse doesnt go back in!tried forever to get it to turn with the wrench&pick!it looked like a pin was stopping the key going back in,used a piece of paper to keep the pin up,key still wouldnt go in,(cont on next comment)
Doms isnt a locksmith lol! , i have a practise rig with a single 5pin euro in it, its easy to rack and pick as well, the shear line on the more cheaper ones are easy to find as the tolerance in the pin retaining shafts is quite low, hence easy to bind. I've been tinkering with locks for some time now, and find it quite annoying when so said "locksmiths" try and discourage people from learning there surprisingly easy trade, as they are worried to lose the oh so lucrative call outs!
yes classic20 is right ... you might wanna check a DVD called "visual guide to lock picking" there is a full chapter about all types of security pins and how to defeat them ;)

I'm sorry to say that this doesn't work, there's a lot of these videos around at the moment and, whilst us genuine locksmiths appreciate the work that is provided by repairing the locks that these idiots manage to break, we'd rather prevent it happening in the first place, so save your £1 and countless hours spent filing down hacksaw blades, go and buy half a pint at wetherspoons instead.
And ummm, even if these "idiots" do break euro profile locks, which is extreamely rare with picking, unless your kack handed (are you kack handed?) at least they keep you "locksmiths" in buisness. So stop whining about how you would rather no be doing your job!?!?
Oh and I have a perfectly good bench grinder and sandstones that o away with all those hours of filing.
So thanks for your half assed comment anyway, but it was shit.
mammooney is completly rite u think u people know everything about a lock but have you actualy picked 1? i know alot about locks i pick them, take them apart i dont just pick pin tumbler locks so im on mammooneys side here it dus work
@MAMMOONEEY hi my 5 year old daughter raked a basta 5 pin open earlier on today and i spp it i used your technique and it worked well for me, well done and ty
Hi, can you answer this.. it seems like your showing thieves how to pick peoples locks, well they can look at this and just repeat what your doing right?
nice, im allready glad i see a euro cilynder. i dont seem to get the darn thing open... can you please tell me, how can i know the pins are set right?
the keying must have been almost flat because there is no way an average euro cylinder would pick open that easy with a half diamond and one try? No way.
close, but as you can at the start, i have allready got the tension wrench on, i had allready raked it before, only had a few pins to set, this was to speed up the video.
you have a broken lock cus you have 4 more pins to pick my friend. this video is scam no way you can pick it so fast

when you rake a lock, do you apply tension before inserting the other pick?

classic20 2 years ago
Maybe you couldn't pick it because it has security pins! Check the net on how to pick secutiry pins! It's all about giving MINIMUM pressure!

Well Doms,
From the comment you have jst posted I highly doubt that you are infact a locksmith...
It does work, and it is show in the video, it isnt magic, you can pick a euro cylinder.
And you can open the door if that euro cylinder was mounted in a PVCu door, for example.

MAMMOONEEY 3 years ago
It doesn't matter if you did it to speed things up. It's still a relatively aimless video of you merely pushing down the final pin(s).
The idea is to demonstrate the 'entire' process; maybe even talk us through your method with some commentary or annotations.
Speeding up the video shouldn't be your concern, either. Time can saved by the viewer by using the video seeker-bar.

Who says what the idea of making a lock picking video is?
MAMMOONEEY 3 years ago
I tend to agree with Brigand22. You need to include more than just a turning plug in a video like this.
