Adam's songs have a happy tune most of the time. The poetry of this song is actually kinda sad. [And even more meaningful] if you notice he covered it up with a merry tune. "She's the bee's knees and i'm the cat's meow" means that the girl was sharp and he was gentle, and that when they said goodbye, the girl only got half hurt as he did because "she got a tan" and he had a "sunburn." :) See the metaphor?

We had to sing "Fireflies" in music class today and a few kids we're covering their ears before we even started singing, and a few kids even said "This song is gay." I stood up said "Just 'cause it's a song about something other than sex and drinking doesn't mean its a bad song." They kinda looked at me, but I think they got the point. But that really shouldn't be what you base your music tastes off of. I don't especially like Fireflies either, but all of his (Owl City's) other music (well no... I don't like Strawberry Avalance much but that's beside the point) is pretty awesome, I think...
Oh and it's all going to sound a little bit like Fireflies I guess because it's all electronic... sort of.

Is Adam Young an only child, because this song sounds like it's about his sister, if you think about the lyrics. @meggiebera Judging by your grammar and spelling skills, and your dislike for Owl City (which I can't imagine the reason for...), I'm guessing you like something along the lines of Justin Bieber. Just a guess, don't sue me if I'm wrong.
But if I'm correct, and you do, in fact, listen to Justin Bieber, then can I inform hyou on something. His songs sound more the same than Owl City songs do. Girlish voice, pop music, and rapping mixed in. Every song of his I've heard has that.
