  • I try to point this out to people too, but they just don't understand that magnets are capable of doing work. The idea is simple but the implications are huge.

    Great video.

  • One shot device as you say and there are many more out there. The search is on for a repeat device.

  • thank you for taking the time to share your findings with the rest of us.obviously some take for granted that you " have " to do this, and the rest of us know you dont have to. very interesting.

  • Thank you very much for your kind words and observations. I enjoy sharing, and this is especially true for the things I find interesting. One of the things I find interesting, is the vehement human reactions to shared experiments. The remarkable thing is how it usually result in those persons reducing themselves to child like name calling. I think it is based on some level of inate justice and a belief that magnet experimenters are somehow deceiving us. Those persons trust scientists like gods.

  • well, actually thing isnt about the "little" input you use at the start but the force you need to take back the ball once it reach the end of the ramp and get stucked between the two final big magnets.

OH YEAH! you said that at the end of the video, then... if you actually need so much energy to only one shot, what's the point? i mean, if there's actually one.

this is just a stupidity demonstration, you know...

  • I can see you are still learning. My second post in this thread states the purpose of the video. Thanx for watching.

  • DUH! Hey, ya gotta remember to turn the electricity on to the magnets before you start the camer rolling. And also be careful rto not be so obvious about starting ball rolling fast enough that it would have gone as far as it did up that RILLY STEEP HILL!

Break time. I suggest you take a break also. From trying to sell nonsense. Even to the naive. This video was so obvious anyone would have seen through it. Even worse than your other video efforts.

  • nodanno, I'm not sure where all your anger is coming from, nor why you feel abliged to direct it at me, but I assure you your comments are completely unfounded and incapable of being substantiated. However, everything I have stated is true and irrefutable. You may notice as well that I am not selling anything here ;-)

    Cheers

  • Nodanno, if you don't like the video don't watch it.

    I find it fascinating =).

  • Are you familar with reducing or aiming the gauss field?

I think your present fields are donut shaped, if they were directed I think it would be more efficient.

  • You are correct. However in this exercise the purpose of the demonstration was to show that the initial exchange between potential and kinetic energy did not have to stop with the first magnet set. Also, kinetic energy was added by each successive stage, and then finally - a mechanism is provided to extract the energy from all the magnets in the final transfer. Note however that the cost for this is the entrapment of the primary target (first ball).

    Cheers :)

  • this is set up similar to a calloway V

  • if u can move the ball uphill get ri of the gaussian gun and have it go up hill as much as u can and build 4 of the ramps in a square so when the ball reaches the end of the first ramp it falls into the next ramp which leads uphill. basically making a square circle

  • Energy is lost during changes of direction. Since the power for this device is derived from the continuous increase in magnet strength, it becomes necessary to use a shunt device on the final set to allow the 'drop' to occur as you have suggested. These processes are feasible and gravity can be used to assist in the separation of the object from the final field. In order to accomplish this, foward momentum must be added to g to equal 1/x^3 of final flux thus providing escape velocity.

  • u saw how little energy it took to get the ball rolling with the tin foil. your tellin me a freefall of 1 foot doesnt make more than that

  • The proximity of one ramp to another would have to be sufficiently distanced to avoid any interaction between the strong final set and the weaker first set of the next ramp. Notice also that in this demonstration the ball is trapped in the final set.

  • This is just a ball "falling" into a magnetic potential energy well. It's like holding a piece of metal in one hand and a magnet in the other hand. The magnet is attracted to the metal and touches it. You are now at the bottom of the well. Now you have to pull the magnet away from the metal, and you loose all the energy that you gained by "falling" into the well.

  • How many directions does your well exert a force? Is it possible to fall up? Can a rubber magnet be turned inside out? Can your 'well' push? Is it possible to turn the 'well' on and off? Where does the potential energy come from? Can it be throttled or amplified? What is a BH curve? Where does the energy go that is used to make a magnet? Can it be retrieved? What is the cost? What is the inverse cube rule? Why is it different than your 'well'? Can inverse square and inverse cube work together?

  • 2nd posting: So, you have no choice but to "cock" the whole system again by expending energy to pull the first ball out of the well formed by the last pair of magnets. If you don't expend energy to "cock" the whole system again you are dead in the water.

  • It's obvious you have not watched the entire video.

However, even though your point is stipulated to in the video you are incorrect in your assumption that this is the only choice. There are ways of resetting the system which use less energy by comparison to manually 'pulling the ball out of the well'.

  • oh, no, the loop won't work because the magnetic cocker has a different situation after the cocking. hm, no go and this is an experimental path walked upon already by at least more than a hundred thousand - but there was no youtube yet then . . .

  • Please see the comment I replied to oouthere.

    :)

  • Yes, the loop has to do it. Make the road turn around and bring the ball back to square one. Save yourself a lot of headache.

  • You are right, it's like cocking a rifle and take a small amount to pull the trigger....no magic here. You could lose all of the single magnets and use only the last four and have the same effect.

    Rich

  • This is true, however there are 3 things being demonstrated here simulataneously. The first 3 stages demonstrate (like in the first video) the ability to quench the trailing flux and allow the momentum to continue. Secondly, acceleration is provided in the other two stages (to offset elevation) and lastly the mechanism for transferring the final accleration outside of the field.

  • Closed systems have been a puzzle for nearly everyone that has attempted it. Finsrud has already demonstrated it but some believe he used springs and I cannot refute that without inspecting the devices column. I do however have a project I will reveal in due time that may overcome the dipole problem that plagues so many.

  • Why do you even bother... make a loop, dude. That's the only one that will convince anyone... also it will make you rich and famous.
