okay so my go kart has a live solid axle and when turning, it has trouble getting enough torque on my centrifugal clutch and for some reason tends to smoke, I am told that is because my wheels are to large (18 inches) for the clutch to pull when turning. Because when I turn. The rear axle locks up and needs that torque to push forward. So would you suggest a torque conveter (Comet torq-a-verter) as my next step to fix that problem and is it really worth an extra $200?
@Tmansgokarts thanks for the quick response!!! What brand of chain should I be looking for, cause I'm just going to my local farm store to get my chain?
Ok got I believe is the torque converter with jackshaft set up, wich my jackshaft goes on the back side of the motor to the other side of engine. What my problem is I keep breaking chains with in 30 min is there a special chain to run with these? It's a #41.
@Stevet19791 yep, but if the chain is braking then it can be two differant things, eather its to loose and flops around , or the sprokets aren't inline with each other.
Is there anyway you can contact me I'd really like to talk to you and pick your brain.. You seem quite knowledgeable and I have never built a gocart. Look up personal tracked vehicle and that's what I'm going for ..
@daemonwangs well I would suggest that you sell the two enginse and use the money to get a horizontal shaft engine from Harbor Freight. It will make things way better.
@FreakShow161 sure, it would take some redesigning and modification, but sure. I have taken the rear apart on the a-kart and I'm putting a larger engine on it. But it wont be able to fild up afterwards. This will be done over on my other channel ( tmansgokarts )
would a belt dive system with a belt tightening pulley work. like a lawn mower type system where when u press the pedal it loosens the belt and u can freewheel.
@pugskreationz yes, you want some type of clutch mechanizm because if you dont have something like that then when you go to start the kart then it will take off on you or die.
hey i have the 30 series torque converter set up and was wondering when i am putting on my centrifigal clutch all there is holding that on is the washer and bolt correct?
@MrZZniperZz1 yes you sure could ....but expect to spend a good amount of $. Once you have one , your kart should rip everyplace you drive it. I dont know where to get one for that , if you find one let me know.
@callstermatron30 oh , man I'm sorry for not seeing your post. But dont use anything that would take 5/8ths axle for anything ... go with something thicker.
You dont even know how much you just helped me. Great vid good info. One question-How do you know what series torque converter you have on your go-kart?
@RCrookie1 , no problem, thats why I do these videos. Most of the time It says what type of TC it is .. Like the one on your little girls go kart , I can tell that its a 30 series.
@mvcataal , well I haven't ever messed with something like that before. I do know that there are a lot of guys on diygokarts d o t com that have. you might want to check out that forum.
wat if i have a generator motor... can i put a cluth on the motor....the throtle is the turtle to the rabit...it is not one of the motor that have an idle system...i mean by idle system is when u twist the throtle and it turns the pulley...my generator don't have that...it has a system that the motor turns on and turns the pulley right away...i want my motor to have a cable that when i press the gas it turns the wheel and when i don't the wheels doesn't turn...need help...thanks....
@niyota12 , yes you could as long as the shaft is not splined . the clutch acts as an idle. On these engins the shaft will always turn. With the clutch installed when the RPMs start to increase, the weights in it expand and grab the outer casing and then stars to rotate the chain. I hope that helps.
@DeanLyman , hey thanks Dean. I just watched your last uploaded vid. you could remove the gas tank and make a braket off of thetop of the seat to hold it.
@Tmanskarts Yea i have plans. Like you said the tank idea is what i plan to do. but now i just need a clutch. and i have no clue what size shaft the honda has

Thanks so which parts of it do I lube?
gamrboy100 4 months ago
@gamrboy100 NONE of it with any oil or greese. TC work dry there is a special spray that is used to lube them.
Tmansgokarts 4 months ago
ON the torque converter setup, where will I find the clutch
gamrboy100 4 months ago
@gamrboy100 sure, at .56 of this video, the driver ( part on the engin ) is also considered as the clutch portion of the TC.

bmxking411 11 months ago
@bmxking411 no, useing a jackshaft would give you one or the other. You would have to find a happy medium useing one of those.
Tmanskarts 11 months ago
@bmxking411 yep, some times it helps to have two washers.
