  • youtube = vidoes

  • I like those old 3.1s. Glad to see you saved this one instead of swapping in a 3400.

  • @Thecarguy1254 I agree with you 100% !!!

  • the gasket fits, music no !

  • waste of time rip the 3.1 out drop in a 3400

  • your in that far rip out that old wore out v6 and drop in something with some balls

  • Went to sleep w this video

  • I like the music. :)

  • Like a rock. It never moves.

  • @alexkills Oh, a rock WILL move....If you throw it hard enough at the bastard, lol.

  • like a rock, I like those 90's TV commericals

  • i know what you do next

you call the scrap man its fooked

  • What happened to it dude - did you manage to get her back together?? I sure hope so.

  • is this still like this?if its smoke everywhere...need cooling system coming through...it maybe thermostat and yes head gasket..if that is the case u need qualified mechanic for that..otherwise u may or may not ruin the engine..

  • at 3:27 i can imagine him taking parts off and then be like ok.......... mhm ...............awwwwww shiiitttt

  • @boobooloofoo Thats funny,Aww shit wtf !

  • it was probably the intake gaskets, these are bad for that.

  • like a rock...? LOL chevy = epic fail

  • LOL

Did you not even drain the coolant before starting?

It looks like you dumped coolant out of the head all down inside the engine.

  • The 3.1 is a disposable engine, it will never run right after pulling it down.

The heads are guaranteed to warp when re-installed if they were not warped before.

  • @hurricanefloyd1 Chevy just couldn't figure out how to make a V6 smaller than the 4.3. They should have put the 4.3 in everything.

  • @bisquik3006 If it wasnt for theChevy 4.3 litre the scrap yards would be empty.

  • @CHEVYPWNS Don't forget the monster 2.8 of rape.

  • @bisquik3006 The song makes me laugh, I guess it doesnt apply to engineering but only fanboy egos.

Like a blown, cracked, warped, and leaky Rock.

  • @CHEVYPWNS This kind of reminds me of a project me and my uncle were working on. thought about putting a 2.8 with 5 two barrel carbs in a Z26 Berretta. it would have raped faces all the way to wisconsin, but we decided to go with the 307 powered chevette.

  • @bottzxI32 Your uncle is a cruel man.

If you guys could have pulled off 5 two barrel carbs it would have been as big as the Moon Landing.

  • @CHEVYPWNS How about this one? A 250 straight 6 with 1 four barrel, and a two barrel in front, and behind it. i'm thinking that would rape the hood off.

  • @bottzxI32 Nothing says power like over carburation, rape the hood off FTW.

  • @CHEVYPWNS Had being around a lot of them, I LOL'd so hard.

  • clean what you can, remove the head gasket cover, once its off remove the blown head gasket, scrape anything left over by the head gasket off, then put ur glues on, and put the gasket on, put the cover on and ur done, then put everything back lol.

  • bob seger ftw

  • Love doing headgasket jobs on the 3.1 and 3.4 Liter GM engines. I usually get stuck doing them on the harder mini-vans though. A little more difficult. Looks like you got the right idea with the big table to put all the parts,LOL!

  • (continued) the wall of the cylinder. I recommend holding a shopvac over the cylinder your cleaning for good measure. Don't forget to google or look up in your book the proper procedures for installing the push rods and rocker arms, you'll need to pay extra special care when tightening stuff up.

  • The heads will need to be taken to a machine shop and surfaced. When it comes to the haynes or chilton's book the Haynes manual is best. When you clean the gunk of the block surface try to use a scotch bright pad by hand at first, if it's too caked they make drill attachments that they sell at the auto parts store that look kind of like a scouring pad. Those work pretty good, or lastly a fine wire wheel.

Take extra care not to let any dirt or particles fall between the edge of the piston and

  • you got the hardest work to replace the head gaskets, v engine, front wheel drive, japanese design, no room to fit hands. mate check the heads one way to another to make sure no cracks. sometimes head gaskets fine but heads crack, clean all the surfaces gently, you can use thin sand paper or sand stone, take all the water out from pistons, use some red stuff for new gaskets so they sit properly. it has been already 1 year, i am guessing you have already finished it. good luck.

  • drain your fluids!! what a mess!!!!!!

  • Great Song!

  • pause at 4:34 .....is that a hole in the bottom left piston???

  • @bentboybbz It sure does look like it to me. I seen this before on different engines because of it being lean. This guy should have just replaced the motor.

  • @bentboybbz i think its just a burn mark i zoomed in really close

  • brings me back to when i did my old Z's head gasket , mine was gone on 1 and 2 leaking between both cylinders lol two days later she was going again . it had 540000 kms on it when i sold it to a buddy of mine hes still driving it lol

  • You're a brave guy doing a job like this for the first time. Im on here looking for tips myself cos i think ill be doing the same thing soon. Mine is a six pot also but straight 6 so only one head to remove.

I have a 525i e34 and i think my gasket might have gone between cylinders as my coolant is clean as is my oil. But ive noticed my oil dissapearing over short time and i have oil in the combustion chamber and on my plugs.

If anyone thinks im wrong saying its head gasket please let me know.

  • like a rock ooooohhhh make sure you clean that gunt and build up out and use proper sealer for the edges so the the gasket can stay in place

  • you'll need new head bolts what ever you do do not reuse the old cyl. head bolts they're stretched and will not retain proper torque

  • 3:29 ... ouch

  • Also, be sure you get a hanes manual or something that gives you the proper torquing sequence for the head bolts. You'll need a torque wrench. You took it apart so you should have an idea how it goes back together... good luck!

  • bought it like this the guy said he was driving it and all of a sudden whte smoke everywhere

  • if anybody has advice on what to do next it would be appreciated, thanks adam

  • well you need to get the heads checked and planed by a machine shop. Then put new gaskets on and reassemble the engine. You'll need all new gaskets, you'll need to replace all the intake manifold gaskets as well.
