Olive oil in hair before wash, olive or coconut after; hair in LOOSE bun during hijab; and light weight, STRETCHY hijab is essential to comfort and hair care!!! most important thing is stretchy hijab, so hard to find!
I always found it odd when experts recommend using a satin or silk pillowcase to prevent breakage, and hijab experts as well recommending soft scarves..because it makes me wonder...wouldn't all our body be falling out and breaking from our clothes? (I wish lol) :P. Head hair must be different i guess! Anyways I enjoyed your video and lotsa good tips there. Wearing an underscarf kinda sucks though. I've stopped wearing them. They just flatten my hair way too much. I'ma try a workaround...hmm
Moroccan Oil is the best thing that I have come across. It's wonderful! I also don't wash my hair every day. Helps keep the natural oils in my hair and it doesn't stay so fragile. Sulfate free shampoos are wonderful!
I thought this at first, but was just that at the end of the day when I brushed my hair, it was coming out all at once instead of throughout the day. I was also slightly anaemic, I went on iron tablets and the problem is solved.
Alhumdulillah! Thank you so much for doing this video! I have had some difficulty with my hair since I started wearing hijab. InshaAllah this video will be as helpful to other sisters as it was to me. MashaAllah, Amena you are amazing! : D
There is an amazing Chocolate Leave in conditioner out there....it's called Seibella chocolate Leave in....it's brilliant...I can really recommend it....
I am debating converting to Islam from Catholicism. I love the hijab and have wore it several times to see how I felt and what reactions would be. I feel great in them. I like showing my modest and self respect this way, but it makes my hair look horrid! I know describing my hair is not good but without too much detail...short and bangs....what should I be doing? Any advice anyone? I've tried head bands, caps, under scarves and I always have a sweaty stickup section I cannot fix until I bathe.
@acutee2 Have you tried thin scarves instead of thick cotton ones, also try not wrapping them as tight around the head and try wearing them looser. I don't know if this helps but inshalAllah it does xx
you know you're quite beautiful, I have a question, do you ever show your hair? or is it a no no. Oh by the way, Im always anemic as well, been for years and then I started taking this amazing iron vitamin, its not like the regular iron. This has saved me, Im not freezing anymore and finally mosquitoes have started biting me again cause for yrs they would never bite me...lol..not that Im glad they're biting me but at least Im normal again that even mosquitos want me..lol..u know what I mean?
salam alekoum sister...i was lose to many hair before wear hijab.. from the day that i wear hijab this problem was stoped by the day... and now i dont have this problem and my hair are to much better than before.. =)
Salaam Sister! I love you videos, your site and your tips. Maybe you can help me out: I'm a new hijabi and I was wondering how does a girl keep volume in her hair when wearing hijab? When I take off my hijab, even if only wearing it for an hour or so, my hair is so flat! It is frustrating & my mom (non-muslim) complains that I look bald with it so flat, so much that I almost want to keep the hijab on even when it's safe to take it off just so I don't have to deal with 'hijabi hair' around her.
Amena, I am absolutely smitten with your tutorials and your bubbly personality. You make learning about wearing different hijabi styles fun and interesting. Thank you so much. Inshallah your inspiring words will bring you much success.
Amena, I am absolutely smitten with your tutorials and your bubbly personality. You make learning about wearing different hijabi styles fun and interesting. Thank you so much. Inshallah your inspiring words will bring you much success.
Alrighty if you have already then I apologize for being retarded and asking but here I go ^_^
I am in love with this hijab style and I believe I purchased the same one mainly just for this style and I would love it if you could recreate it. See I am hijabicapped and not the best with styles.
And I did search your videos and couldnt find a style similar to this so if i did miss it i am sowwy
@ValleyGurlFrmHell lol hijabicapped... This is a recreation of 'The Alex' tutorial (minus the headband on the forehead), BUT the 'triangle' in the corner of the hijab is really small so it doesn't reach the end (because this scarf is smaller than the one I used in that vid). Give it a go & show me!
@Amenakin I actually have a small recommendation, i joined a hair site a few months back, and they were really good about teaching about proper hair care, its called hairlistadotcom, and they have tips and tricks everyone can use really, and there are more, idk them all though
A vinegar rinse (wash this one out) made w/ herbal tea is what I do every week. I also make my own shampoo with 4 cups of herbal tea (I like mint) & 1/3 cup of castile soap (made from olive oil). This shampoo is is preservative-free and is gentle enough to use everyday. It is very liquid but I love it:) I hope these tips work for you cuz you'll have amazingly soft, touchable hair - and of corse - your husband will love it! Ha, ha, ha:) Salam!
Asalamalaykom:) I found that every once in a while I get an oily buildup on the top of my head from my underscarves. 1) wash the underscarves regularly (especially if you use gel or hairspray). 2) Make 2 cups of mint tea and @ the end of your shower, rinse the tea thru your hair & leave it in. It takes out the oil, softens the hair & leaves no buildup.
hmmmm if you use satin underscarves, will that not make it worse because the hijab will keep slipping about and so will the underscarf against your hair? ahh IDK I am so confused :(
Sister Amena, whenever i tie my hair into a loose ponytail, it slowly un-does itself during the day so i'm forced to have it fairly tight = hair falling, headaches etc
Can you please explain how you do your ponytail and stop it from slipping down?
sorry for not writing for long time, i've been really busy, thank you for this video, very useful.you said on your video that you are aneamic, i am aneamic too and i've tried every single iron vitamin, still aneamic and that is also the reason why i never feel hungry(poor appetite) so i am quiet underweight for my age.any advice on how to incearse apetite or on how to increase your weight!!!!
Salaam sis, thx again for these great tips! My hair falls out HEAPS, I always have to pick them up around the house *eww hahaha n btw love this new style of showing ur video and u're so cute for using mr.pringles as ur mannequin lol!!
AUSSIE has a great leave in conditioning spray. Also MOISTURE will keep hair from falling out, If you spray some conditioning spray before you put on your hijab, it is probably the best thing you can do EVER.
very very useful tips..thank u so much sister..I myself am suffering from hair-loss problem..but i dont blame the hijab...i think i do not take care of my hair well...as sometimes when im getting late..i just want a quick hair-do..thinking no one would be seeing them...
anyhow..proper oiling and hair massage also helps in making the roots stronger and thus healthy hair! :)
Hello, this is Farzana..thank you so much for the tips...and yes i will definitly take care of my hair for "somebody Halal" hahahah...OMA u are hillarious <3
great tips! I am personally suffering from this issue, my hair loss was actually caused by my under-scarf believe it or not, I understand ur point about how it reduces friction, but also keep in mind how tight its tied..I used to tie it really tight and as a result i lost a lot of hair from my hairline...so yeah! UNDER SCARFS DO HELP BUT BE CAREFUL HOW TIGHT U TIE THEM! oh and another tip is to brush or tie ur hair in different directions so its not always pulled back, i hope that makes sense
@DazzlingGemzz Thank you! Definitely tie the underscarf LOOSE and not at the roots of your hairline, because then they will pull back on the hair there = hair loss from hairline
i also find that loosely tying a bandana around your bun can provide a barrier between your hijab and your hair, and it also provides a nice shape to the hijab.
Salam sister.. I amso lucky, I didn't know this problem even excisted. I, Mash'Allah, don't loose hair. But anyways, I will be carefull in the future, so it never happens.. Insh'Allah! Thank u for this vid sister!
A BIG way 2 keep hair healthy, especially if u have very thin hair, is 2 NOT wash it every day. At first ur hair will feel really greasy but as time goes on ur head stops panicking about it's oils are being stripped every day & u will need to wash it less and less (every 4 or 5 days). U will also save a ton of $ on shampoo & conditioner cause w/the natural oils still in your hair u don't need to condition it nearly as much. & trust me, no 1 will notice when u think ur hair is at it's greasiest.
Im not sure if you saw my comment on another video of yours, but I was just wondering if You sold the hijab hair buns. I think that using this will enable a 'volumised' bump on your scarf without the pain of creating a bun with your real hair, also they are very comfortable. (Many Arabic women wear them) The problem is I only know one website that do this hijab hair bun. If you want I will give you the link. But they do not have an online shop. PLEASE sell it on PearlDaisy =]
aa, this was a nice videos, JazakAllah. Like you said postpartum, vitamin deficiency but also stress, or illness can just trigger your body to do funny things. Just remember the hair is always replacing itself so it may seem like your losing alot but its also replacing itself so have a good healthy varied diet, and inshallah that should help. Oh and too much hairstyling looks good but is baaaad for your hair, i.e bleaching, perming etc Its a sunnah to use oil in your hair - so do it its good.
Lovely to watch and funny. Your great Amena. Thanks for the tips. I use AVEDA shampoo and conditioner. They are composed with essential oils. Also any conditioners with Argan oil (from Morocco) or Shea butter are great for the hair. Take care hijabis. Salam
i noticed tht since i startd wearing a bonnet under my scarf...my forehead got bigger lol...the hair movd bak or just lost my baby hair :S dont knw...lol
btw i luv tht hijab...its luks different when sum1 actually wears ...n which hijab style is tht...waterfall?
Just watching this video I realized that I have hair on my forehead (only on the sides) but you dont so I always have to pull my hair back tighter so it doesnt peek through. And also my hair is so long and thick I dont know what to do it always finds a way to slip no matter I wear an underscarf and headband and tie it tightly. I tried bobby pins but they slip out too. If anyone has any helpful tips that would make it a little less painful to make my hair stay back I would realy appreciate it.
There are a hundred reasons that someone would lose their hair. But mostly it is from stresssssssss and hormones. It will grow back in most instances.
try not to use elastics or ponytail holders in your hair. just twist your hair in a spiral bun and either use large bobby pins or use a large hair clip, clipped at the bottom of your bun.
where my bangs are located, is my "balding spot". i wear my hijab to school and i have it on for 7 or more hours in the day. the way i style my hijab puts to much pressure on my forhead and i like my underscarf on nice and tight but my hair is paying the price. sadly i find that i am hesitant to different styles and colored hijabs, besides black. i will try to loosen my ponytail but what else should i do to keep a neat, "sturdy" comfortable hijab that wont ruin my hair. thanks for the help! :)
well first of all I loved the wackiness in this video it really reminded me of the videos Baba Ali does lol I have to quote 'someone halal' and 'I swear they're vampires' you should put them on your FB quotes section haha ;-) and I've been suffering from hair loss recently but I really don't think its from the hijab. The Kerastase range specifcally have a shampoo that helps hair growth, have you heard of the product? are their any shampoos you could recommend for hair growth?
Argan oil has done wonnnnnnders for my hair!!! I have slightly greasy hair but I've found that if I just apply it at night and wash my hair in the morning, it works just fine. I got my Argan oil at the Eden Allure website. Also, tying my hair with those claw-like clips has helped a lot and doesn't hurt after being tied up all day long (ponytails hurt my head :-( )
Pringleleena was adorableeeeeeee lol… and great tips. I don’t alhumdulillah suffer from major hair loss and I typically relate this too never keeping the same hijab style each and every day; I switch it up a bit and that sort of gives my hair a break and all times in which I can remove my hijab I do.. I also switch my shampoo and conditioner every 6 months or so. I use Biolage Matrix Ultra Hydrating Balm which is a leave in conditioner, only takes 1- 3 minutes and it’s amazing.
I always use Aussie leave in spray! or a little olive oil after showers. Also, I found this out from a hair stylist, the more you brush your hair, the more blood circulation you will get and have more hair growth. I used to be scared to brush my hair when I thought I was loosing a lot of hair. Your should brush your hair at least twice a day.
i'm really really grateful you made this vid. i had very made hair loss that stopped a few months ago and whenever i run my hands through my hair and my fingers out a few strands i freak out. some of those facts i've heard but from a fellow hijabi's mouth makes me feel better.
If you have been wearing the hijab for the day and you come home. How do you make your hair look pretty again without washing it right away? Mine always looks flat on top and messy everywhere else.
Great video! Could you give suggestions how to tie up your hair for under a hijab too? I'm suspecting the way I tie my hair is causing it to fall. I have really long hair so its usually in a bun of some sort.
i just use johnsons baby shampoo followed by johnsons baby conditioner when having a shower and it works wonders.....i have realy sensitive hair and falls at any given chance lol but this shampoo and conditioner saved my hair :) thats my opinion
i just love you.... the hijab you do and wear just making me like wow
i thought(before i came across you) that hijab is just one style different colours. i did saw other sisters with different style but i had no idea how they manage to do it. now thanks to you i do
Yeeeey thankyou Amena darling! :o) You're so right when you say that there's hair loss when you put your hair up too tight! 'cause I always used to do that, and I still sometimes do silly me!, it gives me such a bad headache too! Hey babe, do you ever wear the flowers that go on underneath your Hijab? they keep the hair held tightly together without you having to fasten it too tightly, but I opt for the small flowers if i ever wear them 'cause we shouldn't have huge bumps on our heads!! xxxx
@rizlavsskitzo I lloooooove argan oil. I used to have great great great skin care products wiht lovely smell by Yves Rocher. They finsihed the line though :(( any suggestions?
Thanks so much for this video, it was very helpful. My hair is very dry. I would like to try those oils you've mentioned. I've also heard that olive oil is good for your hair. Other than that, I think my hair got thicker after I started wearing the hijab because I stopped straightening it and using all these sprays and products!
Anyways thank you and I'm looking foward to your other videos!
i have some hair loss on both sides near the forehead because i have long hair and the ponny tail is heavy, so i need to tie it hard under my hijab and yep it's heavy, and it pulls all my hair back
i think the best try for girls with long and rich hair is to buy a
''scrunchy'' ''gulf style and just pin the hair rather than tie it with elastic
I thought my hair started falling every since i started to wear my hijab, but then when it got really bad, my mum noticed other 'signs' and made me go get a blood test and I found out I was aneamic. Love the tips given, especially the one about the roots from the front because of heavy hair! I need to take ur advice, I loooooove ur videos!! :D
ASW.....thanks a lot for the tips....it has helped a lot to all your daisies..I would recomend The BODY SHOP leave in conditioner...i have personally used it and still using its made out of AMLA...i dunno if u have heard abt it its very common in India...try it out
As- salaam Wa' alaikum , just wanted to enquire whether the shop where you used to purchase alot of your scarves from Accesorise is also a online store of where i could purchase some hijabs from?? JZK
i HAVE tons n tonnnnsss of requests!... but im jus gonna spare u...lol.. i wil go ahead with jus one !
this is like mah most desperate need ryt nw!
PHULEEEEEEEES TEACH A HIJAB STYLE TO WEAR WITH A COLLAR SHIRT!...
(with formal coats too tht hv collar..but i dnt want to cover up my buttoned shirt...i mean i need somethin tht goes for office wear..somethin not too showy but elegant n simple! )
Salam, thank you sister Amena for taking time to make this video. Although i do not really have a problem with my hair falling out, this was still a nice video to watch :o) i think you have given really good advice for all us sisters! i found the pringles bit really funny lool ....im not sure if this is true but i'v been told its not good to wash your hair everyday as this can lead to hair loss too :S not sure, please correct me if im wrong. tc sister x
herbal esscents "long term relationship" leave in conditioner... i always do a garlic and extra virgin olive oil pre shampoo treatment overnight thats stops the sheding a ton
Assalamualaikum! I guess a large part of hair loss is due to hormonal changes. Even the length of hair encourages hair loss too. Tying hair back with a cloth band or scrunchie causes less pulling of the hair. Do dry the hair before you wear a hijab as tying up wet hair causes breakages.
To be honest, ive noticed my hair falling less off now that i use hijab.. its longer and stronger to. And Nisim Fast must be the best shampoo and conditioner ever :)
Sister, can we get a tutorial of this particular style or if you have already done a video on this style, would you please let me know the title of the video?

I think I know why many people believe hijabis don't have hair :)
Orthodox Jewish women SHAVE their heads and then put on whigs.. (ya i don't quite get the logic either..)
but for them modesty taken to extremes is getting RID of their hair. I think that is what many people then confound with Muslim women.

Salam

Sister Amena,
How do you get the top of your scarf (the part on your forehead) to stay flat and tight while having the part under your neck stay loose??
Every time I try to do that with my hijab, the forehead part ends up sliding off.
Thanks

VivaLaVlog 1 year ago
I always use Aussie leave in spray! or a little olive oil after showers. Also, I found this out from a hair stylist, the more you brush your hair, the more blood circulation you will get and have more hair growth. I used to be scared to brush my hair when I thought I was loosing a lot of hair. Your should brush your hair at least twice a day.

2 tips regarding healthy hair:
1) When you come out of the shower, use a wide toothed comb to brush your wet hair instead of a paddle brush
2) Almond oil/cocunut oil has done wonders for my hair! I put it on at night and wash it in the morning. I do it once a week.
A good leave in conditioner: John Freida Daily Nourishment Leave-In Conditioning Spray. AMAZING smell!!! =)
and LMAO Amena! "No not anybody...someone halaal...." hahahaha

If you have been wearing the hijab for the day and you come home. How do you make your hair look pretty again without washing it right away? Mine always looks flat on top and messy everywhere else.
HeatherNelida 1 year ago
Great video! Could you give suggestions how to tie up your hair for under a hijab too? I'm suspecting the way I tie my hair is causing it to fall. I have really long hair so its usually in a bun of some sort.

i just use johnsons baby shampoo followed by johnsons baby conditioner when having a shower and it works wonders.....i have realy sensitive hair and falls at any given chance lol but this shampoo and conditioner saved my hair :) thats my opinion

Yeeeey thankyou Amena darling! :o) You're so right when you say that there's hair loss when you put your hair up too tight! 'cause I always used to do that, and I still sometimes do silly me!, it gives me such a bad headache too! Hey babe, do you ever wear the flowers that go on underneath your Hijab? they keep the hair held tightly together without you having to fasten it too tightly, but I opt for the small flowers if i ever wear them 'cause we shouldn't have huge bumps on our heads!! xxxx

Anyways thank you and I'm looking foward to your other videos!

i have some hair loss on both sides near the forehead because i have long hair and the ponny tail is heavy, so i need to tie it hard under my hijab and yep it's heavy, and it pulls all my hair back
i think the best try for girls with long and rich hair is to buy a
''scrunchy'' ''gulf style and just pin the hair rather than tie it with elastic
i tried that and it feels so much better

Assalamualaikum! I guess a large part of hair loss is due to hormonal changes. Even the length of hair encourages hair loss too. Tying hair back with a cloth band or scrunchie causes less pulling of the hair. Do dry the hair before you wear a hijab as tying up wet hair causes breakages.

Accent of three both in Hindi and Bangla is same though. . :-/

if i m nt wrong u said three in Bangla Tin!! Hahahaha!! LIKED IT :D
Using Mehedi once in a month also very much helpful for hair.........
sultanapasha2008 1 year ago
Of course we have hair.... it's just ears we dn't have... ppfft! :p
also ladies try n keep your hair open as much as u can at home to give your hair a chance to breath!!
it might also be the amount of heat you are using that is causing hair loss so reduce the heat!
and lastly don't tie back your hair when it's wet!!! this would pull the roots in your hair!!!!!

my aunt (after may years of wearing it iike that) told me it was bad

I don't think hijab causes hair loss ! I have been wearing it for more than 3 years now, and I have thin hair, but it usually sheds in autumn
