Alton may dis the pancake mixes, but you can still make pretty decent pancakes with Bisquick or Krusteaz if you follow Alton's "Don't over mix" advice. There's no denying that pancakes made from scratch can't be beat, but if you're in a hurry, the mixes will do in a pinch...if done right. Also, whether I'm making from scratch or from a mix, I like to add a little vanilla to the wet ingredients before I mix. MMmmm MMM!
i made over 400 brilliant pancakes on a griddle from 6-9 pm.they tasted just like cracker barrels. it was for the lions club which all proceeds help buy kids who can't afford glasses..
maple trees are so cool. no wonder we eat so many pancakes and waffles here in north america. i never really knew how we got maple syrup, I just thought they tapped a tree and put it in a bottle! but even the finest quality maple syrup can't beat butter pecan in my book.
It may seem like too much trouble, but I'm betting that's because you grew up with boxed pancake mix, and you're used to it. Mixing up your own is totally worth it. Trust me. Give it a shot and you'll never go back to Aunt Jemima or Bisquick.
YES! I've got a griddle, just like AB's, to make pancakes with as well. Of course, I'm betting that his also has a non-stick surface. If so, you don't need any lubing as the pancakes can cook perfectly brown and without any grease at all. That's the way you want to have your pancakes.
Really? I have a Black and Decker griddle that NEVER browns pancakes without grease, and yes, it is a nonstick surface. Also, I am starting to get a buildup of this cooked on grease, and I would like to know how to remove this. Any suggestions would be great.
Well, I'm not sure how you cook your pancakes. I mix a couple tablespoons of cooking oil in my batter instead of melted butter, I don't know if that's a difference for you. As for cooked on grease, I usualy wash my griddle after its done with a hot soapy rag so I've never had that problem. I'd have to see for myself what you're doing.
+FWIW, my griddle is a Toastmaster product. Hope all this helps.
In Russia we call those "oladi", think it's from "ladon" (palm), as they fit the size. If we want to make "a pancake" ("blin"), it must be thin as paper, not like those this guy makes :) Well, think i'll try to make such pancakes too.
Yes, these pancakes are the american style. What most europeans call 'pancakes' are akin to crepes. In America, crepes are thin and pancakes are fluffy.
Its a Southern thing. I wasn't trying to degrade anyone from there or the South in general... Sorry If I did! I didn't mean to! Its just the diction and other elements that make ones pronunciation unique.
hey wait these pancakes only have 2 tbs of suger in them 4 6 cups of pancake mix whats that 1 teaspoon per pancake thats like no suger r we making pancakes or pan bread wtf
Oh my gosh!!! I was totally giving up on making pancakes, I hate Bisquick mix for pancakes! Anyway, Aunt Jemima is good but has too many ingredients in it, anyway, I will follow his recipe, plus get an electric griddle plus all the cool tools!!1 I am soo happy that you posted this on youtube, we don't have cable connections anymore and the internet is the only way for me to watch his show!! Thank you for posting it here! :)

My frozen pancakes turn out best in the microwave. They turn hard in the toaster.
I don't usually let them cool completely though, so maybe that's why...

Isn't this too much trouble for pancakes?
alexleecheeseng 3 years ago
I just made some this morning. It's a... pan-cakewalk, lol.
If you don't have a griddle, a skillet or large pan is just fine, but your room WILL be a lot more confined.
Still, this is better than any store-purchased mix I've ever had. Now if only I could find some Grade B Amber Maple Syrup.
