@MrsAChery It's been so long since I did that embroidery I can't say for sure just what I did. If I had to guess I would say I might have hooped a light cutaway along with the bag. But I've never put anything behind the embroidery to protect the stitches. Those are Zundt designs which are always very, very dense, so that's why my guess is that because it was denim, which is already pretty stable, I likely only used a lightweight cutaway as stabilizer.
Dear Susan, I love your designs they are very nice out of curiousity who did you use for threads?and did your threads break because of the needle or because of the thread being bad?
It's been awhile since I did that bag but I'm guessing I probably used Sulky thread since that's what thread I have most of. And I can't remember for sure whether I had many thread breaks but I've had good luck with Sulky thread so I would say probably not. Glad you like how the bag turned out! I'm working on an in-the-hoop purse right now and hope to post the video when I get finished so keep coming back to my channel to see!
G'Day Susan, Thank you for the "You Beaut Bonza" advice on the towels. I've got some of the water soluable stabilizer, now here's a dumb question for you. What do I do with the stabilizer after I've embroidered over it? Where do you get your designs from? I've just bought some from Ebay, but I don't have the Reader/Writer & Adaptor yet.
The "B" is backwards and I can't understand the name of the design that sounds like "Vundt" when you spell it. Which thread breaks, so I know what NOT to buy?
Hi Susan, I had to have a giggle about the accent, coz as far as I'm concerned anyone that doesn't sound like me (a True Blue Ozzy) obviously has an accent.LOL I hope I didn't offend you. As for where you are from, I assume you live in America somewhere, therefore you have an accent. My Ozzy language is full of the typical sayings/words like"Crikey,Blimey Mate, Stone the Flamin Crows,For Cryin out Loud. And when I'm looking for anything/anyone, I usually just say "Come here ya Flamin Mongrel".
Now, back to the Embroidery questions, can you tell me if Towels are easy to do? I went to Crazy Clarks yesterday and bought some Hand Towels as they were only 2 bucks, so I bought several. When I got my machine I was given 5 different types of backing. Even though the towels were cheap, I hate the thought of stuffing them up. I shall now sit down with my Cuppa and look through your video's.
Hi Lea, I had to laugh about the sayings you have, especially the one when you're looking for something! I think i will adopt that one. lol Yes, hand towels are about the easiest things to do! I NEVER use stabilizer when I'm doing hand towels. I just pull them as tight as possible in the hoop and crank that screw tight, tight, tight and then go! Give it a try and see how it does for you. But it really has to be "drum tight" in that hoop.
Oh, but I should have mentioned that a lot of people put water soluable stabilizer on top when they do towels so the embroidery doesn't sink into the nap. But, I haven't done big towels - just the small fingertip towels. So, if there is a high nap on the towel you might want to do it.
Hi Susan, I will check out all your video's (I've watched 2 so far) as they are very educational. You make it seem so easy, after watching the video's I felt very inspired to create something nice. I've only done 1 sample on my machine so far and I'm even more excited now that I've found your Vids. I love your accent too, maybe it's because I'm an Ozzy. Hope to hear from you again. Lea
Accent? You think I have an accent? Oh, do tell me where you think I'm from! I am so curious! I do hope to upload more videos about machine embroidery, so stay tuned! I'm glad you're anxious to have fun with it. You are taking the right approach by going slow and just having fun with samples. I made the mistake of trying to do too much too soon and got very frustrated. So take it slow and it will be loads of fun!
Thank you for the nice comment, Lea. I'm sure you'll have fun with your machine. It takes some time to learn all the ins and outs, but once you get over that hump it's fun! Did you see my series of videos on how to make a machine embroidery bookmark? Check it out. It's a pretty cool project.
Did you use anything to stabilize the embroidering? Or a material to protect the back of the stitches?

Meaning, if you tap on the towel after it's hooped it should make kind of a drum sound. Btw, I also say "for crying out loud". lol
